Isn't *Bimbo* just one of the most joyful songs ever? It instantly puts a smile on your face. Jim's life was woefully short, but we're all richer for it.
I did the same thing when I was two years old -- and rocked my goddaughter, Julie, to it when she was around the same age. These days, it reminds me of this precious 69 year old gentleman in my hometown of Anderson, Indiana who is known as Larry The CanMan. He's a big kid at heart, and his face lights up when he's happy like Bimbo's face lights up when he gets candy bars!
I have never seen more people clapping out of time than in this video. I mean, I didn't even know that many people could be missing the beat, and all in different time signatures! The girl over Reeves's left shoulder for the first half of the video is the poster child for "Ain't Got Rhythm"....
Our first dog was named Bimbo after this song, a black spaniel with a long tail who used to roam. A dog with ten lives and he lived to the age of 19. He was always going down the road to see his girl-e-o, hanging around waiting for the chance to see her to come out of her house. It was love.
Yes, it is definitely Marty. I think he and Jim were about the same age. Marty seemed to live a Forrest Gump life. He was everywhere doing hundreds of different things. There needs to be a movie about Marty's amazing life.
What IS it with country music fans? They start clapping their boogerpullers and make a racket and I can never hear the beginning of a song. They do this at the Ryman too. I've been there. I love country music! I also like to hear it.
I've sung this fun song for more than 50yrs ...one of my favourite childhood songs...easy to pick up and sing too...kudos Jim Reeves 👍

Jim Reeves was not just a great singer, but he knew how to deliver a song
My grandparents used to sing this to me. What a wonderful gift this is.

My dad always played this song on the 8-track player in his 70' Challenger when I was a kid
Jim refers to BIMBO being big the previous year, that would put this film in 1955.
Super... Gefällt mir sehr Gut. Liebe Grüße : -) Ana
OMG was that Marty Robbins who got up and walked off at the end of the song?
