- The Truth Baptist Church of Panama City Florida had its military boarding school closed down in June, 2010 for child abuse. The school is now reopened with the new name of Truth Baptist Academy. Included is a discussion of the First Baptist Church in Hammond, as Jack Hyles is shown as an inspiration for the Truth Baptist church.

That man should never be allowed to adopt children. I was a member of that boys home for two years from early 1998 to late 2000 and my stay there was by far the worst time in my entire life. That man and his wife made my life a living hell both psychologically and physically.
I was the first boy in the history of that home to successfully run away. I played it smart and ran away when we were on a road trip and were in my home state of New York. Luckily in the state of New York the police told him that my mother was allowed to keep me and he had no say in the matter. Some of the worst beatings I received while in his care were for things I did not do but was falsely accused of. To be honest I have countless horror stories of being in that home where I and other boys and even his own children received ruthless beatings for the pettiest of things. And the sad thing is, the man actually believe what he was doing was right because he was following what he believed was biblical instructions for how to raise children. And he also had on at least one occasion that I observed beat on a three-year-old child very severely whose parents he didn't even know, and it was all because the child was crying in the middle of Vacation Bible School. But yeah, that man should never be allowed to have little children living with him ever again.
Oh and I won't say any names, but I was very close to the boy who caught Christina Maynard in an inappropriate situation with that boy, this happened not too long after I ran away from that boys home and that boy was actually supposed to run away with me that night but he did not go through with it obviously, but he was very quick to tell me all about it when he finally went home. I was honestly and disbelief because I didn't think Christina Maynard would be unfaithful since her and her husband buddy Maynard seems very dedicated to their religious beliefs. And to tell you the truth, Christina Maynard was the one I held most resentment towards because it was her who was constantly telling her husband to beat me very often for for the dumbest of things that she had no problem with most of the other boys doing like simple horseplay, and even trying to explain myself when confronted about something what's considered as back talk and I always got beat for it thanks to her.
And also I have to add that the first time I was ever exposed to racism was while I was in that home. They had always said that they would never adopt Colored Boys, and also believed that black folks came from the cursed seed of ham from the mythical story of Noah's and flood, and I heard Christina Maynard use the n-word on a few occasions. They did honestly finally adopt a couple Hispanic boy's not too long before I ran away from that home, which was very surprising after hearing director against non-caucasian folks, but being a child who grew up in very diverse settings where I was friends with other children of many ethnic backgrounds oh, it was very strange to me to hear anyone discriminate against other people over something as simple as so-called race or skin color like they did.

Is what happened to me I had a friend in there who was black and I heard buddy be racist and say the n word too and they beat the black kids the most it was huge psychological warfare and intense beatings bro worst part of my life ever we use to resort to horseplay too with the other kids just to pass the time of the horrors of this place and risk a cc aka corporal correction aka whippings. We would sneak and steal cc slips out of the files so we wouldn’t get beat as much. They turned me into a person of pure survival and toughness to this day I don’t trust anyone and I always have my head on a swivel. Buddy and his wife and kids and that whole place is so full of demons . I really think there was more going on and there was stories that they killed kids and put them under the floor boards. The kids wanted to run but often the other kids would snitch you out and you would get put on watch for wanting to run . They made us do hell week with no clothes on no blankets and only beans and rice . They had a watchmen with a light on outside if you ran and constantly couldn’t trust people . Even your own boys in there. I made it up to private rank and I was able to actually use salt and other things to make the food taste better and get more food . The master Sargents use to steal my care packages I got from my parents and eat our food for Christmas most of it . I’ve desperately wanted to talk to other boys from the boys home cuz no one else knows what it was really like and it’s scaring to this day bro

I attached this academy for almost a year and a half. There was no abuse. They did take action on us when we fought . I dont regret anything about attending this academy. I got in alot of fights there with kids for being bullys and racist. It was a academy for young diligents . They did there best and they accomplished alot of kids to change in the real world as adults.

Yep, they cry persecution when people tell them that other certain folks should be allowed to do the same things that they have taken for granted all their life. Their Bible tells them to hate certain people, so when they hear that those people are finally allowed to do things like get married and other things, they think that's persecution because their bigotry is beginning to no longer work. These cry babies obviously don't even read their Bible well enough to know what persecution is even supposed to mean. They have privilege in Western Society yet they cry persecution? These people need a wake-up call and maybe even a taste of their own medicine and be treated the exact same way that they want other innocent people to be treated.
You can always find fault with Baptist preachers and such, but you will never ever find fault with the Lord Jesus Christ.
This place used Jesus and the Bible for their own twisted religion and abused plenty boys I was one of them

@@Inkednfree333 I would have been willing to forgive and forget but when I learned that he continued his so-called Ministry and reopened the home under a different name only to continue the Mayhem terrorizing teenagers, I have no forgiveness for those who are not willing to change. Buddy Maynard and that f****** Bible and all of the barbaric assholes in it that taught buddy Maynard to treat us like that can go to hell. I don't even believe any of that crap is true anymore so that makes me even more mad that my abuse, or our abuse was justified by a fairytale.

It was horrible for me psychologically and physically when I was there, but as I said it sounds like it got so much worse after I ran away and he quit taking the boys on road trips. Sounds like he was on his way to become the next Jim Jones.

You have no idea what you are talking about here. You forget to mention that all charges were dropped due to lack of evidence and the fact that they found that part of the initial evidence was fabricated. As someone who lived in this home for over 2 years, I never once witnessed any kind of abuse. Also, I have witness personally, people who came there and were supposed to be in high school but were barely reading on a 4th grade level, and could barely do basic math. These same people left with an actual high school education complete with SAT scores so they could go to college.

I too lived that this boys home for a couple years from March of 1998 to October of 2000, and you obviously either had it good there as someone they favored, or you have a bias for their ideology and you don't look at the misery and abuse of the other kids as abuse and are ignorantly sticking up for them.
You have absolutely no idea how hard it was for some of us who have lived in that home. I lived at many boys homes and children's centers growing up and absolutely none of them came close to causing the misery that living at Heritage Home For Boys under Buddy Maynard care caused me.. You should have been there when he was using the paddle with holes drilled through it and dowel rod on us. And it wasn't the fact that he used Corporal correction on us, it was the fact that some of us boys were raised in Church by our parents before joining that home, that caused them to have a huge bias against they explain this to me one night during devotions before I got beat for something Petty) and we were heavily mistreated and rarely ever had any privileges and were quick to be punished for the pettiest of things that other boys we're allowed to get away with. You are the one who has no clue what you are talking about. You didn't have to observe any abuse for it to have happened because many of us experienced it. How dare you downplay the suffering that some of us went through. You ought to be ashamed of yourself.
