Hearing and watching John Denver singing his nature friendly songs is like a breath of fresh air. It reminds me of the days of yesteryear, back in the good old days.

I just saw your comment! My twin boys sang this song in the first grade as well?! I don’t suppose you went to grade school in Anacortes, WA? My boys are almost 21 now. 😊
Woah!! Ok so my son & I are watching an episode of Young Sheldon when Connie’s BF begins singing this song. It sparked something in my brain from 43 years ago, second grade music class. My teacher taught us this song and I hadn’t thought of it since then. ❤ Never knew it was John Denver, added bonus!!
He was such a special person. I don't think his music will ever 'go out of style'. It came from the heart..his heart. I remember singing this song with my grandaughter when she was five. Thanks for the memories.
The U of Md College Park campus there is a bench with a bronze statue of Jim Henson with Kermit sitting on his knees. In his memory. When I was feeling down I would go there and just sit.
@Lord Farquaad: I'm the Gingerbread Man! john Lithgow or John Denver? John Lithgow is the American actor who voiced Lord Farquaad in Shrek. Did he sing this song? 🤔🤔🤔🤔
I miss him. Just so great. Just so beautiful and soulful. My heart is so much bigger and gentler because of Mr Denver. Tears of joy brother John. Thank you.
I saw him in concert in Rhode Island in 1994, during my summer break from Colorado State University, and I wore my CSU hat to the show. After the concert, several fans lined up near his bus hoping for a quick view of him as he was leaving. He quickly made his way along the gauntlet, clearly just trying to get to his bus, but when he got to me, he saw the hat. He pointed to it, smiled very warmly, clasped both his hands around mine, and said, "Good luck in school. Thanks for coming." I took up race-walking a few years ago (5K, 10K, etc.) and I have a pre-race playlist I listen to, during which I stretch out, do some deep-breathing exercises, and pray before heading to the start line. This song is on that playlist and I think of that encounter every time.
This song was one of my grandfathers favorite song. He wanted to play it at his funeral so we let him. It made everyone smile . I guess he wanted to make everyone a bit less sad.
John Denver was the most down to earth guy, his songs will last forever! It´s very sad that he´s gone too soon! His voice goes straight to heart & he really had something to say! RIP!
Two amazing, kind souls - John Denver and Jim Henson. Both of their beautiful messages live on, and always will. Thank you for posting this delightful video.
I raised my kids in the 70s and the muppet show was a big deal in our house - any time john was on was a treat. what a great time to be alive and raising kids. thanks, john and muppets. make sure you listen to "poems, prayers, and promises". amen
Written by David Mallet in 1975. Done by many folk singers like Pete Seeger, David LaMotte, Paul Stookey of Peter Paul and Mary, to name a few. But, my favorite version is done by Arlo Guthrie.
Nobody comes along to replace these great guys, and their work is, like many have said, absent from the radio and tv. John Denver and Jim Henson...what a team. They are missed
John Denver and the Muppets, a perfect combination. What a fun and nice person he was. I never met him but some of my students did when our school choir sang back up for him several years ago. They commented later that it was a real pleasure to work with him. I told them that I was not surprised. What a kind soul. I miss him. Thanks so much for sharing.
Love this song, and loved JD's voice. Grew up listening to his recording of Christmas stuff with the Muppets. To those mentioning JD's struggles, etc and the idea of him going or not going to heaven because of his faith, or lack thereof: This planet is not an easy one to live on, and it's so easy to become angry, even as your soul wants peace wherever you can find it. The songs JD recorded, particularly the environmental ones, were reflective, I think of what he truly felt deep inside, and wanted to express, even as he got caught up in his ego. And as for the notion that JD wasn't Christian...I don't know about that. I didn't know him personally. But I believe he deserved and still deserves forgiveness all the same, just because he was human, and struggled with personal stuff, just as we all do.
I have been searching for this online for a long time. We have all of the Muppet Shows on DVD, and my daughter and I watch weekly. I have always wanted to share this with my friends..now I can! I love the Muppets and John Denver!
Im guessing when you're reading this, you're in 11th grade, and bet you that you miss being a 7th grader. time flies by, and if you don't enjoy life, then you're gonna regret it later on. i miss being a 7th grader as well. im now in 10th grade, and i can tell you i miss the 1st 12 years of my life, and i just cry thinking about that time of my life.
I sang this for my pre k graduation, and I only knew the first few words since. I had no idea what it was from, nor had I ever listened to the actual song. This is so nostalgic.
Happy Earth Day everyone ~ ♡ This is just a sweet delightful thing to see even though I'm a hardcore JD fan ~♡ P.S. Those that did the thumbs down just don't get it . Check out your heart .
My Kindergarten Teacher Mrs. Smith used to sing this to us in class, she was such a sweet a loving teacher! I'm 31 now. I have forgotten a lot of things over the years, but her class and this song were not among those things. Sometimes I miss the simple times.

I wish he was still around, as he and so many others have gone before I was able to meet, or hear in person.
This song brings back so many amazing memories of my childhood. My mom would always play his CD and everytime this song came on i would get so excited and me and my mom would sing it together. best years of my life (so far).
We lost such a national treasure, with John Denver. I wish that he could have found his peace, during his lifetime. That accident would have never happened. 😭

I couldn't have said it better myself.
It's amazing how many people believe in religion, rather than just being good to others, which is all that matters.
And who are we to judge anybody? Only God can do that.
I think religion and treating people good usually go hand in hand though. Guess it depends on the religion and its ideals.
I can’t think of a better song about the joys of gardening and growing things 👍🥰

A lovely song
Inch by inch, row by row
Gonna make this garden grow
All it takes is a rake and a hoe
And a piece of fertile ground
Inch by inch, row by row
Someone bless these seeds I sow
Someone warm them from below
Till the rain comes tumbling down
Pulling weeds and picking stones
Man is made of dreams and bones
Feel the need to grow my own
Cause the time is close at hand
Painful rain, sun and rain
Find my way in nature's chain
Tune my body and my brain
To the music of the land
Plant your rows straight and long
Temper them with prayer and song
Mother Earth will make you strong
If you give her love and care
Old crow watching hungrily
From his perch in yonder tree
In my garden I'm as free
As that feathered thief up there
Beautiful song, Beautiful words bh a great singer, we can never forget. RIP John
