    The number of long term videos you seem to be preparing in parallel is really impressive!

    Brilliant Jelle. I am just about to do a wedge cut on one of my thicker pines and it was good to just get a refresher on some technical aspects of the Scots pine. Thanks

      Instead of a wedge cut, consider hollowing out the area you want to bend.

    Thanks so much for this video, Jelle ....& all the other videos too! I have a similar tree [30 years + old] to work on this spring so this has been so useful.

    It may not be a "typical" bonsai, but it has a very interesting shape. And some great techniques to take notes on! Thank you for another valuable lesson.

    You don’t need the top of the tree 😎Dennis

      Maybe not. I could have gone for a very small tree too. But in this case, I liked the top :)

    I have the same problem with my Pine, did it worked completely after on time removing? Thanks :)

    Makes me worried that my mugo pine has a fungal infection. It's more on the tips of the needles though, they're turning brown on old needles. Does that sound like a fungal infection? Beautiful end result btw, looking forward to seeing it next year. Big healthy candles, should recover just fine

    • @GrowingBonsai
      @GrowingBonsai  Год назад +1

      Tips f needles going brown/yellow more likely have something linked to the roots. Wet, over fertilized? Hard to tell from a distance!

      @@GrowingBonsai My other guess was overwatering as well, it's very root bound so it's likely the roots aren't getting as much air as they should. Thanks Jelle.

    Hi Jelle, I have mugo pines with Dothistroma fungus, all needles from this year affected in the last 2 weeks. Half of the needles (at the stem) are still green, new buds for next year forming. I can't remove the affected needles as this would be certain death, until new needle open next spring. Is it ok to use some systemic fungicide until then? Are pines and micoriza ok if I use systemics on them? Any advice you might have? :)

    • @GrowingBonsai
      @GrowingBonsai  10 месяцев назад

      Bit of a challenge to answer, as we do not get proper fungicides here. However.. It depends a lot on whether the fungicidi is targeted or not. The mycchoriza are a very different group than the ones in the needles.
