I'm Catholic, but this is a really fantastic video. So many nun "costumes" don't put the detail into it to make it look authentic. So even though this is a "costume" I can tell that a lot of research went into this, and despite being modified here and there for practicality in a play, it's actually an informative video if I ever want to make my own nun's costume.
Go to the nearest Muslim mosque in your village and ask them for a women’s hijab They will be happy and will give you any thinks hijab a barrier Arabic dress gloves... Beautiful and colorful things for free@@cumorahwatson1967
I thought it was great to watch. There are different types of nun outfits to use. I dressed a nun up when I was a cna in a nursing home that was there that would wear her black outfit. Then had a another nun who wear regular clothes. I had 2 great aunt's that were nun's. I loved them so much.
I wonder how long it takes a nun to get dressed with all those pins. Some sisters get up in the middle of the night to pray. They get fully dressed. I can't imagine how they do it. I admire them very much. It is a real testimony to their love of God.
Generally, they learned to do it in 5 minutes for this type of habit, including underwear, shoes and stockings. Sisters did not dawdle or waste time. Our nuns in the 50s used black glass-headed straight pins to secure everything. No safety pins. Back then, the collars and coifs (cylinders worn on the crown of the head) were made from a material that fused celluloid to linen. I think it was called Linette. It had a wonderfully crisp and neat appearance and could be easily wiped clean, but unfortunately was also extremely flammable. After several horrible experiences with fires, the sisters went back to fabric.
Five minutes maximum. Carthusian nuns still dress the ancient way. Normally they only gather in the church three times a day (Martins&Lauds, Mass, Vesper). While they suppose to change every time when they pray, even prayers done in the cell. Novices are told to stop working 10 minutes before all prayer times to "get ready": clean and put back all toys in their proper places, clean yourself and put on "prayer garments". i.e. clean habits and veils keep solely for office prayers (yes they have "work habits". Monks are a blue cotton tunic, nuns are things like XXXL shirt and maxi jean skirts donated from some good people's grandmas' wardrobe ...you don't throw nothing in the Charterhouse). Remember you cannot run in the cloister even a fire breaks out (happened once). So If you manage well, you will have about 4-5 minutes to change your clothes, taking off and putting on. Their headdress has three pins for underlayers, two for the veil. But honestly I think most experienced professed nuns could do it in two minutes with eyes closed.
These are women's oxfords which were popular as work shoes in WWII. The lift of the Cuban heel kept their feet from getting tired during long days in the classroom. Our sisters gave us a lot of information about the construction of their habits. It was their recruiting poster of sorts. Orders with more attractive habits had more applicants. After all, if this is the dress you're going to wear for the rest of your life, how good should it look?
I would just look for pictures on line of St. Faustina. It appears sje jas ablack tunic and a black shoulder cape. The top of the blackveil could be shaped with white cardboard. Sorry I don't know more about her habit.

I remember reading ‚A Nun‘s Story‘ by Katherine Hulme (the movie version starring Audrey Hepburn) - very impressing how the sister is getting dressed
Remember the last scene in that little room where she changed into civilian clothes and walks out into the night with a little suitcase

@Şahin That is not a headscarf. It is a wimple worn by nuns for hundreds of years. You need to learn about the difference.
@Cruella These are costumes for a show. Look up Catholic Nuns and you will see what they wear. We all must respect each other's traditions.
