Good to see railways being refurbished ! The music at the front was really nice and suited this subject well - shame about the long silence which follows though ! I wonder why the gauging was so suspect re the overbridge ? I would have thought this would have been measured prior to any train movement - not 'complaining' , just curious. The railway is certainly very generous in it's application of 'kitty litter' - looks a better formation than some 'BR' lines ! Congratulation to all who work there and to you for this video. Much appreciated. Cymrru am Byth ! ( What a beautiful location is that at the end of the video ! )
***** The music was that supplied by RUclips & the 1st time I`ve used music from that source, I was under the impression that it would last the length of the video. measurements are taken during the relaying of the line but it is still normal practice to carry out a gauging run.
Did they ever plan on putting a passing loop and shunt so that the engines could run around the train or, is it going to be run strictly by DMU traffic?
The original station is now a showroom for Ifor Williams Trailers, the railway wouldn't have been allowed there if it was available as the bridge crossing Green Lane would have been too low and impossible to raise the embankment to make it higher.
What's the plan for the permanent station? Just a simple run-round loop? I note from another upload that you can't get the original station back, so how ambitious are the construction plans for Corwen Mk 2?
The existing temporary station at Corwen will be closed on Sunday 4th. November and dismantled. The line will then reopen in the new season to the new Corwen Central station about 300 yards further on. This is the only extension to the line that is planned.
when UK opens a railroad to passengers BOOM! rides go up 300% or so Besides the Beechman Cuts were a failure XD Why? well its expensive there in UK to fuel up a car & insure it Train rides is cheap
It`s possible to do it but at the moment highly unlikely that it will ever get done unless the whole route was reopened as part of the national network.
Dewi Davies and that is extremely unlikely, as some of the route now crosses private land. It’s way down on the likely re-opening list!- good to see it goes this far though. It’s a shame that a lot of these lines were torn up without much thought, even profitable lines were victims ( such as the Waverley) line and those few that have been reinstated have been at vast expense!
Awesome achievement, well done all concerned. Makes 'yer proud to be British! Maybe, just maybe the new Tory government WILL reopen closed railways as they've promised and an extension to Bala might one day happen! But don't hold your breath.
A fat chance of ANY significant reopenings except in Scotland (to keep them sweet, as ever): the existing rail "network" is only there to make a profit for the Leeches, not to provide convenient and affordable services for the traveller.
PTS Cards and Orange PPE only applies to Network Rail. This is a private railway. PTS cards are seldom accepted on private railways who operate a different training requirements. In the end they are mainly charities with very limited budgets operated by volunteers.
The music was put on to replace the private conversation that was taking place, I couldn`t get any copyright free Welsh music so what I got is what you hear. If you don`t like it turn your speakers off.
Nice one you did it, what a fabulous effort by all thoughs involved.
Bringing back what was lightly taken away by folly.
Well done everyone.😃👊👍
Beautiful, with the wild flowers. It's like a meditation watching this.
Great video along the new extension. Great progress made recently and hopefully it's not far off opening now.
Thanks for this Dewi. Good to see the old place again.
Can't wait to visit to experience the new extension. Great video Dewi, greetings!

Thanks for the route learning vid Dewi ;)
Will be organising route familiarisation runs soon!
LOL - happy to trust the track gauge is consistent and correct, but nervous about the bridge clearances.
Extension looking good....that bridge seemed pretty low !! Great video....Steve.
I think there was about 9" clearance so it was tighter than normal, hopefully when the track settles a bit there`ll be a bit more space.
Did they ever plan on putting a passing loop and shunt so that the engines could run around the train or, is it going to be run strictly by DMU traffic?
There's more chance of there being a loop and sidings than Network Rail I'm afraid. In short to a loop I'd say : Yes, Funds permitting.
What happened to the original Corwen station, as the buffet was open even after closing a good meal always when travelling.

These are the plans they currently have for the new station: www.llangollen-railway.org.uk/corwen_new_drg_rev2%20ex%20Martin%20210311%20800P.jpg
Many thanks...any further extension plans beyond Corwen?
Geoff Barry They don't have any further plans as their main priority is to finish Corwen station at the moment.
Such a shame Rhiwabon is an impossibility now but at least the dream has been fulfilled at last, wonderful job.
Not impossible.
Great Music. Hasn’t this line got the GWR steam railmotor?
No, it`s at the GWR Soc. in Didcot, the engine for it was assembled at Llangollen and it ran there for a short time.
Dewi Davies cheers Dewi respect and stay safe.
is there plans to extend even further and if so how long will the railway be
The permanent station at Corwen will be about 300 yds further on making the line about 10 1/4 miles.
Music from Luar na Lubre ?
Any plans to go further (I REALLY HOPE SO) a LOT further!!

Track seemed to be off centre of the bridge
John Goodwin Yes it is, that`s how it always was . The bridge was built to span a double track but the line stayed single.
Nice Celtic Music but would not be surprised if the origin is A Galiza: Luar na Lubre
Are the line side crosses where workmen died while building the line ? 😳
No, they are alignment markers from when the track was put back.
Could they rebuild it all the way to Bala?
Possible, but it`s not envisaged that they will do. It`s debateable as to whether it`s economically viable.
It`s possible to do it but at the moment highly unlikely that it will ever get done unless the whole route was reopened as part of the national network.

Would make sense one day.
That beaching cost me my job at croesnewidd sheds Wrexham
Nice to see the safety minded checking bridge clearance. But please do not walk across a line with a moving train on it basic pts training.

Marvellous
Dewch adref i rheilffordd go iawn:-)
13:16 These workmen should be wearing orange PPE when working on the railway. They should also have a pink PTS ticket for working near to track.
PTS Cards and Orange PPE only applies to Network Rail. This is a private railway. PTS cards are seldom accepted on private railways who operate a different training requirements. In the end they are mainly charities with very limited budgets operated by volunteers.
I bet they didn’t were any of that orange or pink gear back in the day ,they would of worn donkey jackets & bib & brace overalls & hob nail boots .
Great video, bloody awful music. This is Wales not Peru or Bolivia so kill the pan pipes let’s have natural background sounds and enjoy the journey.
