    It's funny how he says they will pass into history, there's still quite a few wondering around with their amazing type 1 engines!

    We used to have Four of these in multi to bring coal up the very steep Bootle Branch from Liverpool docks,for Fiddlers Ferry power station. The sound track they used to produce was incredible.

    Bittersweet, seeing how varied and interesting rail traffic was, back in the day. Very grateful for those who have recorded those days for us.

    I've literally just posted a video I made about the Class 20s, I can't believe I never saw this! Awesome, wonderful to see footage of them in the old BR green and blue liveries.

    Brings back so many happy memories of train spotting at Melton Mowbray back in the 1970s when these workhorses were a regular sight every day
    Miss those days so much

      I spotted from 1965 to 1975 further down the line in P'boro, and these 20's were as common as rocking horse crap..... Maybe, a pair would turn up on a mixed freight working on the odd Sunday (replacing the booked pair of 25's) and that would be the lot. Very, very rare loco's in P'boro...

      Excuse my ignorance me being a mere layman, what was the layout of the 20s cab did the seats rotate or did one face forwards and the other face backwards?

    The first time I saw a class 20 it was paired up with a class 37 they were both in DRS livery they had one of those flat bed wagons with a nuke flask on it I saw them in 2006. The class 20s look better in British Rail Blue in my opinion dirty or clean I still like them and the chopper sounds as well.

    Does anyone know what happened to all the 'Rail News' videos what used to be on youtube up until a few months back? They were fantastic, informative videos and were narrated by the same gentleman as in this video. If anyone has any information about where I can find/buy them in whatever format, I'd be extremely grateful!

    Aren't American diesel locomotives still designed and built in a similar way IE with a single cab at the front? Check out Delay In Block Productions videos and you'll see what I mean.

      @neildahlgaard-sigsworth3819 5 лет назад

      I believe that the Class 20 and the other Type 1s with a single cab, other than the Class 14 and Class 17, were influence by American designs starting off with Ivatt's LMS design that had the number 10800. The Class 14 and Class 17 were influenced by German designs.
