You can actually see blood splatter onto the ice right after the impact. O.o I'm glad she recovered and the blade didn't hit her eye, but still, that's some cringe worthy stuff.
Cloud Atlas, cringe means when that one thing, that makes your face scrunch up. Like a fork scratching a plate, not just Jacob Sartourious’ tik toks 🤦🏽♀️
I was surfing once and accidentally went over a girl who was swimming (I didn't see her), she got bumped by my board, but was ok.. Still, even though accidents happen, you feel like shit.. Poor girl, glad to know she recovered, man, yeah that's enough to just hang those skates..
I was at a shithole called the Bat Cave in Indianapolis around '95 or so in the fast-pitch softball cage (70-80 mph) taking some swings while my parents were grocery shopping. Smacked a line-drive into an ill-placed telephone pole and nailed a little boy in the face in the slow-pitch cage next to me. I was maybe 15 and haven't been in a cage since. So much blood that his dad was bawling carrying him out. Hell I was crying just looking at that bloody home plate. To this day I still get these vivid images like it was yesterday. Kid ended up okay after surgery, and I wonder if he even remembers it one-tenth as well as I do. EDIT: Just checked and it's still operating with great reviews. Apparently new ownership has cleaned it up.
Having been cut by my surfboard fins yet but I've been hit hard by my board coming down on my head during a wipeout. I swear it sounded like thunder when the board cracked on my head. The fiberglass was broken through the foam and there was hair and skin stuck to it. Another time, went over the falls on an overhead punchy day and my board landed first upside down fins up, and I got thrown right on top of it, with the force of the wave slamming me down with my back to one of the fins. Then during that same wipeout after hitting my board with enough forcee to break my finbox, the wave still carried enough energy to throw me 6 feet underwater and hit my head against the bottom. I injured my back and never fully recovered. I was training hard to be a lifeguard during that time, swimming kilometers at the pool everyday then going to the beach and surfing 3hrs. Best shape of my life. And in one moment, one wave, one wipeout, it's all over.
I feel so bad for her I was ã complete accident and I loved it how he straight away tried to help her they both stood high and pulled through it wonderful
I never ever in my entire life watched ice skating. but the choreography of the pair was actually quite outstanding and perfect. I hope that wasn't a career ending injury
Figure skating is fun and exciting! All diciplines are fantastic as long as there are no injuries... Pairs and ice dance are heart stoping sports! You should try watching them!
They just won a world's bronze medal! Having been through such a tramatic accident a year ago to getting a world medal shows such courage, will, and determination they have. They are my heros. It shows us that you shouldn't let adversity affect you in life. You always dream big and give it your all to achieve your goals. Bryce and Jessica, continue and reach for the stars!!! Canada is proud of you both!
Beautiful sport, but very dangerous. I remember them doing an interview on CBC shortly after this. Bryce was crying saying that he was supposed to protect his partner, not hurt her. I felt badly for both of them. To Jessica's credit though, she is one double tough little lady. 3 days later she was back in the arena to chear on team Canada.
And heartbreakingly enough, it happened again. They were doing a lift a while later and her boot accidentally hit Bryce in the head and he dropped her. They were both bruised up but okay and their partnership ended a while after that.
Actually if you look at their skating legs when they start the spin and then when they collide they BOTH travel - seems like Davison is at fault but Dube's spin is not centered and she wavers towards him...still, they probably landed too close together to begin with
No, its was actually good. It means she was fully concious and aware what was going on. It would have been a lot worse if she didn't react to it at all as that could have meant a brain injury.
Yeah it looks like she traveled about 10 inches towards him a half-second before he traveled about 6-8 inches towards her, I bet he got blamed for it by many watching though, based on the commentary.
yes they no longer skate together and recently Jessica and her new partner also called it quits so both these skaters are no longer skating or competing
It looked like it hit around the bridge if her nose and the bone area under her eye. You can see, during the slowmo when she flinches back, the gash under her eye.
I feel so bad for the guy. As Jessica is strolling out, he looks like his father died or something. He cares a lot about her because he looks like he's been depressed for about 10 days.
Yes, you do get dizzy sometimes when spinning. When I used to skate to coach made us spin more if we got dizzy. I guess it was to condition us to the feeling of it? Idk. But yes, you can get dizzy. Not as much as you would think though.
She traveled right, he traveled left, both about the same distance. Still, she gets the blade to the face so gains the sympathy vote and Bryce has to go home and re-audition for Idol again next year. Oh-oo-oh-oo (cue music) Oh wait, I meant skating.
3:05 Most needless comment by a sportscaster, seconds after the incident: "This is going to be such a huge, huge setback for this team!". Ya think, Captain obvious?! 🤣 Sometimes it's best just to shut up! The blade came within an inch of her eye. She took 80 stitches, and had to have the bridge of her nose reconstructed! The good news is.... She's still lovely!
in the beginning they were talking about how it was their come back from her knee surgery. poor Jessica
that must be the worst feeling, hurting your partner :(
"You want those spins to be close, but not that close."
REALLY???
ikr?! I'm like "no shit, Sherlock!"
the way they trusted each other and flowed together in the beginning was beautiful
I'm bawling my eyes out at hearing her cry echoing...oh my gosh...

You call THAT cringe???

And I think as he was rubbing her back trying to make her feel better, he was saying, "It's going to be alright." Such a loving apponent.
So my friend recently got into ice skating and wanted me to join her......... yeah no

She continued skating just 10 days after the surgery!! Power girl
A few years after that, they had another accident.

At least now they're even.
She was back skating 10 days later with 80 stitches in her face.2 months later she only has a very thin scar left.
i don’t even know why but it makes me feel so weird that this comment section has comments from 2007

ooh jessica i bet that hurts so badly i had a skating accident one time it bleeded
WOW their presentation were so beautiful. They seem to fly on ice they are gracious Its a pity what happened!

True but I think you missed his point.
What the commentator meant was that it was good she was crying because it meant she was still conscious (and alive)

RedbeardNC It looks like after she jumped she moved closer
The commentator was saying it was the dudes fault. So annoying.
I hate seeing this so much but idk why I’m still watching this.

I was their at the competion in colorado and it was horrible hearing her screaming and crying I could not beleive I just saw that

Thanks SO much for posting this.
Man, how close did the blade come to her eye?
Very close. It would've been a LOT worse if the blade had contact with the eye.
It looked like it hit around the bridge if her nose and the bone area under her eye. You can see, during the slowmo when she flinches back, the gash under her eye.
Blades Of Glory took me to this
3:44 Is that bits of ice or bits of flesh? I hope it's the former.
Oh it's aweful!Poor her, thank god she's ok and she's skating today very well.Congratulations!

You can just hear her cry:(

Ooooooooo. No please no oh shit no that would hurt I feel so bad . Thank god she is ok 👌
Her partner must have felt horrible about that, even though it was just an accident.
The way she was crying I'm sure that hurt like hell, poor girl =/
what was he saying to her after he hit her?
Who else was really hoping that the people running across the rink would slip and fall on the ice...just me...ok
Omg what a tragic accident. So scary.

At least she has a badass scar now. Poor partner tho :(

como ficou o rosto dela hoje.
Damnnnn !!!
Have they split as a pairs team now?
Yes and they no longer skate
I'm not letting my daughter do pair skating
That is the worst thing that could ever happen ...
Showing it in slow motion three times, seriously was that really necessary? That poor girl.
Do someone know the name of the music played during their show?
It's called The Blowers Daughter, by Damien Rice.
VALIÓ TRES HECTÁREAS DE PINCHE SALCHICHA xd
Bro this accident reminds me to Wendy from Red Velvet 😭porr

Do they get dizzy?

good question
This video is the reason why I don't like ice skating much
