honestly idc if “she wanted to continue” they should have automatically stopped and checked her out, finishing a damn competition is not worth getting paralyzed or losing your life smh
I think that isn't the way skaters see it. They live their lives for that moment, and after that they live of memories. That's why they don't care watchers think they should stop.
Don’t blame the man! He clearly tried to talk to her and was ready to stop! The woman herself wanted to continue. But I agree that the coaches should’ve stop them.
priscilla crow Not really. Her landings weren’t all that horrible, she nailed some of them. It’s just the ones right before she fell and after the fall that she was off
priscilla crow i agree that her landings weren't perfect, but they were definitely not "horrible". In singles those would be weird, i agree, but in pairs, such landings are totally normal, except for the one were she fell, but the jump was right there, she just had a weird and silly fall.
priscilla crow Yeah, I remember someone commenting that a skater was wobbling on a spin when actually they were going to an inside edge. Watching skating only gets you so far. Sloppy is a loaded word, implying that the skater has bad technique. She does not have bad technique. Go look at the protocols and see how much the judges dinged her landings, and it doesn’t add up to much. Not horrible, and sloppy is the wrong word to describe the landings you object to. Wonky is the informal term :-). Shaky works, though only one or at most 2 is that. No deep outside edge would be another complaint for a couple. But horrible? Pejorative and vague isn’t a good look.
priscilla crow I agree, she was off her game. I think what I objected to was a tone I saw in your comment which was not what you meant, and is probably the internet communication problem. I admit I don’t like the term sloppy, as there are terms that are more specific to what happened and sound less judgmental. To me, sloppy refers to technique, whereas “she is off her game; she was already having a hard time maintaining her landing, holding her edge, etc., I would have understood your respectful position. Terminology, type, the internet. 😀
@@davidlencar8690 ok, so soccer is pretty big where I'm from and I know for a fact that people fake getting hurt all.the.time. How many times do they actually get hurt, compared to all the times when they dissimulate? That was what I was talking about. 🙄 🤦
I hate how everyone is blaming Timothy. He clearly tried to talk to her in 3:58 and she pushed him away. It also seems that right after the accident he wanted to accompany her off field ( 3:52 ) but she pushed him away and wanted to keep going on. NEVER blame someone if you haven't been in the situation.
As an adult who just decided to learn skating, I have so much respect for skaters. My first 20 minutes went me trembling like an 8 month old who never learn to walk. I am glad she was ok!
@@LA-lq1zf go for it! I could only skate forward at age 47 but started learning with my 5 year old daughter. Now I do all sorts of stuff at age 53. She's far better than me but I'm still proud of myself. You'll love it! I wear a skateboard helmet, though, because 4 years ago I was knocked unconscious for a couple of seconds after a fall.
As a judge I wouldnt allow her to continue if a doctor doesnt check her before. Health is way more important than performance. Head injuries can be fatal and there are times you dont see the damage right immediately. You can allow contestants to restart their rutine and discount all their previous faults.
I agree, if someone hits their head during a performance, they shouldn't be allowed to continue. The risk of a another fall is not worth further injury. Imagine if she had sustained even a small skull fracture or brain bleed continues to perform and ends up losing her balance hitting her head yet again causing severe trauma 😬 Time is of the essence when it comes to head trauma. That being said their performance was beautiful
@@addiegraves3 Agreed, I wish this was where the judges would've stepped in (don't know if they can do that) but she was clearly dazed and should've been checked by medical staff immediately.
I think so too. The way her legs just flopped in my opinion, I'm guessing she was knocked out for a second or two 😢 poor girl. I agree with something someone else said, they should have stopped and checked her out.
Okay hands down she was so professional. I'm speechless. Wow and i think there was something with her since the beginning not just at the time she fell
Her decision to get up and continue, in my opinion, was not professional it was stupid. She could have become paralyzed or died from worsening her injury. No competition is worth someone's life
@@wanbywalby8240 That's the life of a professional athlete though. Their trade is their life. Just like that girl in gymnastics a decade ago? She did that vault on a sprained/broken ankle and won the American team the gold that year, I think. They live that "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" life.
People say "Oh, figure skating isn't that dangerous" You are literally jumping and spinning on ice with METAL BLADES on your feet. Doesn't get more dangerous than that.
I was ice skating one time, and I’m horrible at it... I slipped and fell and the metal blade slit my lower leg, above the angle below the knee. It’s been a few months and it’s never gonna fade. It looks exactly the same as the day after the cut. It hurt so painfully. And I was just skating for fun and only go a few times a year. I wonder how athletes and ice skaters handle so many cuts like these for years practicing.
The choreography was brilliant but the ability to perfectly synchronize with each other was astoundingly breathtaking!!! Regardless of the falls, they were awesome.!❤ I hope she is ok.
@Crescent Lunaxy I wasn't part of their exchange, but to me it seems like she pushes herself to keep the performance going, less so than him encouraging it. imagine being in the Olympics, the ultimate dream for these athletes, and getting hurt. would you stop? I've known CLUB soccer players who continue playing with a shatted tibia or fibula
Ashley is a Texan. They grow their women strong out younder. No tears in baseball or TEXAS. Keep on moving or die. She is an American girl. Goooooo goooooo Gadget Ashley from Texas the lone star state!!!! Only one Texas and only one Ashley Ice Queen from Texas.
Seeing videos like this walks me back thru my figure skating accident years ago. Almost took my life- and took skating from me forever. I’m glad she’s okay.
This whole "she's so strong for continuing" rhetoric I'm seeing in the comments completely disregards that being knocked out like that can be quite dangerous and someone should've stepped in for her own safety instead of letting her continue. Head injuries are no joke, and what happens after getting knocked out (preventing the head from moving and going to the hospital for observation and treatment vs. shaking it off and getting right back up) can have an impact on the severity of the damage from the concussion. So yeah it was brave and whatnot, but it was also very dangerous, even more dangerous than, say, continuing with a broken bone.
I totally agree. I have a son who was knocked out several times through his youth playing sports. At one point he was told no more contact sports but we couldn't get him to listen. Fortunately there were no more instances.
To me, it looks like he knelt beside her and was ready to stop, and get help for her..but she got up and kept going..and he followed suit..so he's not to be blamed she kept going ..and he looked like he was trying to help her in the kiss and cry.
Rebekah Needham yes! A lot of people are blaming him but he was probably panicking. At that moment a lot of thoughts go through your head and I’m sure if it was up to him he wouldn’t have continued but she was “professional” about it and told him it was ok to keep going. So please don’t put the blame on him, you can tell that he was worried about her and obviously would’ve rather her not finish the performance and get some medical attention as soon as possible
He actually got her up. She was out cold and he moved her head n she woke. Then he helped her up. She was still clearly dazed when she began skating again. And to have a neck brace in the end shows she really did jam her neck in the fall. He should have let her lay there and call for help. That fall again near the end didn't help her neck any either......
Toni S yes‼️I can’t believe he picked her head up! So scary. I don’t think anybody is “blaming” him. Just saying when there’s a possible and even more probable neck/back injury you don’t move the person!
the fact that she was literally out for a second when she hit the floor . you can tell by her legs & nobody decided to say anything smh .. it wasn’t his fault but i don’t understand why he even tried to pick her up by her neck when she landed on it & wasn’t moving props to him because he is obviously more shaken than she is
To me it looked like he was trying to keep her neck stable as he knew she most likely had a head injury. He wasn’t picking her up by the neck but supporting her neck while helping her up (at least that’s what it looks like to me... i danced growing up and have seen quite a few falls)
msguineapigsrus um.. she landed on her neck & head .. some of his weight went down on her as well . she also went limp , so when someone lands on their neck & head like that .. you do not move them
@Amira Brown If we want to get straight down to it, he didn't see how she fell, he just saw that she went down. I doubt he is simultaneously trained in emergency services so it's just one of those sad things that happen.
Skitdora2010 um okay ..nothing to get straight down too .. you don’t have to see how the individual lands in order to see their body goes limp or no movement .. she didn’t fall and immediately try to get back up , but okay carry on
@@amirabrown9643 Yeah not until a trained responder is there to help you, unless you are trained. You do not move them yourself unless the situation is so dangerous that you cannot wait for help to come and for their safety and yours, you must move. Me: Tries to jump over doggie gate and catches it with my pinkie toe. Goes sprawling and lands in such a way I’m thinking as I’m lying there I’ve broken my neck along with my pinkie toe.
I reacted to that too. She does not have the same energy as her partner and she had to do the same jump twice in order to gain the speed of her partner
@@emiliaholmberg3320 the partner also did two jumps, that was the routine. She was just very delayed because she stumbled on her first jump and had to quickly jump ish to catch up to him and the music nevertheless it was off from the start. Look at landings. Only one was stable before the first fall. Maybe she was injured or ill or something and decided to push through. This was the consequence

Usually as a performer, the first time you bobble can mess you up for the rest of the routine. You want everything to be perfect, so once the first movement is messed up, it’s hard to focus on anything else

He looked ready to. I think the guy wanted to to make sure she was okay. But I understand her as a sports person in a routine you want to accomplish something and she was determined riding it out was brave of her.
In figure skating you cannot stop in the middle of a program or else you'll lose a good amount of points, if they had stopped to check for any bad injuries they would have had to probably forfeit. As an ex skater myself the biggest thing to do after having a fall or anything is to finish the program and that's what we are taught to do as skater from our coach. It may not sound right but that's the reality of figure skating.
Gabriel Clemente I think they meant that the skater should have stopped completely, doesn’t matter if you have to forfeit, safety in ANY sport is priority and she looked pretty dazed by the fall and she may even have lost consciousness for a second or two. Sure they may only get a handful of opportunities to skate at big comps but getting to the top or being the best is NEVER worth risking your safety after have a fall, especially when it is a serious head injury.
@@amyc5437but what I'm trying to say is that I know it was a bad fall we could all see, but as figure skaters we were always taught to finish the program. Yes it was a bad fall and yes she should seek medical attention but no one knows how much effort skaters put into the sport. Skaters have probably experienced worse in everyday training. It may not seem worth from an outside perspective but as a skater that's what we have to go through. Coaches have always taught us to finish the program. I remember my coach telling me that he doesn't care if I sprain my ankle or get a concussion in the middle of competition, just do your best and finish the skate which I agree for many reasons. It may not seem right but that's how much athletes want it. Plus they were already almost done the program with a really good skate besides that fall and a couple others.
@@gabrielj.clemente6240 are you sure that's not just your coach? From the way you talk about them, they sound a bit harsh. My coach always values my health and constantly checks if I'm okay even if I only tripped over my toe pick. But at the same time I can see the other point of yes generally we are trained to keep going and finish the program. We also don't know what was going on in her head but clearly she decided to keep going, the reason behind that we may never know.
Her 2nd fall was severe & you could tell she was disorientated by that fall, it took her a while to get up on her feet. I was shocked to see her finish the routine. They had some beautiful spins together!
Very synchronized performance. I loved it. I just felt so much pity for her when she landed head first. I was surprised she was even able to stand up. I thought she broke her spinal column.
i can't believe they let them continue. all i keep thinking about is Natasha Richardson. you don't play around with head injury. i really hope she'll be alright
anye76 I know. Honestly though, not as bad as Yuzu’s concussion-quad-splatfest... To go out and attempt quad after quad when you’ve just had your head sliced open and you’ve not had imaging and you could have cerebral spinal fluid leaking out... Could’ve given himself encephalitis, and, ya know, there goes more than just the GPF...

@@KatarinaS. ah. thanks for explaining better than me! It was a tragic accident! People do hit their heads and are ok so I wonder if it was the part of her head which caused her to pass away 😥
AshleighEM I was shocked! Anyone with basic first aid training would know not to move her at all and the first thing he did (because he was concerned about her) is lift her head off the ice.
AshleighEM you read my mind it looked like she passed out for a second, but at the same time she was able to get up and continue. Even if she did get up she could still have a broken neck and not know it. My step-brother hurt his neck during a spill from his surf board he went home and mentioned his neck was sore from the spill. The next morning he woke up with his neck swollen and really sore so they went to the Er after X-ray he went into surgery to put his broken neck in a halo. He could of paralyzed himself that night simply by turning his neck in his sleep or in the morning when he thought it was just stiff.
I feel like she was unsteady from the start. Their synchronization was great, but her landings were so precarious. Glad she wasn’t seriously injured though
Yeah she must have been experiencing an injury or an underlying illness... certainly was off the entire skate. Poor thing !! Good on then for finishing
Just a guess but I'm thinking there was something perhaps going on with her blood sugar. There are multiple moments before that fall where you can tell she is shaky and wobbly, especially in some landings. The women in pairs skating try to keep their weight under a certain number so that they can be lifted and tossed etc. It would not surprise me if that were a key factor and this incident, and that she didn't have sufficient fuel before going out onto the ice. My heart really went out to them watching this. You can see how concerned her partner is, and you can also see how determined she is to get through the routine. We ask a lot of athletes that represent us. Much respect to them!!
Yeah, I was analyzing her the whole time while hoping that it wouldn't be too severe. She is certainly off her game at several points. Low blood sugar must certainly be a top culprit. Add in the nature of ice and that first fall.
Боже какая красота, грация, синхронность. И это ужасное падение. Она сильная спортсменка, сумела подняться после такого падения и продолжить катание. Умничка, молодец. Очень красивая и смелая пара. Удачи вам ребята и много, много побед! ❤🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺
She was off and it was clear from the start, you can see bad landings and trip ups a lot. Also ik that this is getting a lot of hate becuse thye didn’t stop, but that’s simply what they are trained to do. I don’t agree with it in this case, but that’s how this sport is.
Veronica Sendor I agree with you, in many performance sports we are taught that no matter if the stunt falls (in my case since I’m a competitive cheerleader) or if you get injured during the performance you have to keep going until the very end. You can see a moment of hesitation from the guy when he picked her up, a lot of people are saying he shouldn’t have grabbed her like that but I’m sure he was just as worried as anyone else and simply didn’t know what to do so just decided to play it off as “gracefully” as possible as if it was part of the performance all along. And I’m sure she told him to keep going because after all a lot of performers rather finish the performance and hold in the pain than get points deducted. Which I seriously do not recommend because it could be extremely dangerous (as seen in the video) but it’s the most “professional” thing to do 🤷🏻♀️
Yes I noticed something was wrong with her from the start as well, a couple wobbles when landing and a fall before that. I think either she was tired, sick, or having problems with her skates.
Veronica Sendor exactly!!! I’m a majorette ( I do competitive baton ) and while competing I threw my baton too close and when I came up from my illusion I hit my face and sliced my nose from my glasses. There was quite a bit of blood but I still kept going or else in would’ve gotten disqualified and as a athlete or a performer you are always taught to finish no matter what. As much as it sucks, it happens all the time
Everyone here sounds like nurses or smth trying to tell them what to do, y’all don’t understand the situation completely so don’t assume things. In the interview the women clearly said she wanted to continue while the man wanted to stop. Stop blaming when what happened already happened.
skater and officials should know what to do. The skater who suffers a head injury that knocks them out is likely to make a stupid decision. So while it is nice to defend your friends, she was only able to do that because she got lucky and the apparent neglect did not result in something like paralyses, etc.
I’m only qualified in first aid I’m not a doctor but just with my training and what I could see I wouldn’t have even let her move until we made sure there wasn’t a head or spinal injury and I do know people like to brush things off thou when they’re injured too. I’ve had a head trauma that effects me to this day and I was so stubborn and wanted to move my neck etc... but honestly what do I know I’m just trained to deal with accidents before professionals arrive
As a never-done-proper-figure-skating, I've seen this type of fall happen in a few other videos too... Usually that's the end of the routine. In Ashley's case, apparently she went to the hospital afterwards and turns out she did have a concussion...
@@Abacus_Zephyr she could have fainted, maybe dehydrated, stressed, not enough fuel/food in her body, POTS, I have it & I blackout a lot. I wouldn’t go on ice even if… I could tolerate that awful noise & know makes, or have enough stability in my too bendy body and I’d need a duvet cut and sewn so I could wear it 😂 Loads of reasons why she could be fainting, blacking out and having syncope attacks. It should be investigated because our bodies don’t just faint, there’s always a cause
And this is why Pair Skaters have my ultimate respect. I’m surprised they kept going with their routine! And as a former lifeguard, I was taught not to touch the head when it comes to head injuries; the first thing you should do is stabilization.
Me that's why they don't have it. Your partner life should be put before any competition. He should have let her lay down and make sure she was really okay even if she was, then he would have still check but he only put her head up and unintentionally could have injured her even worst... This whole situation is just so wrong, I just think about the fact that human life is so fragile she was very lucky
Neï Tha she was the one that made him go on. He didn’t make her keep going. He shouldn’t have lifted her head but that was more of an impulse reaction to check if she was okay, rather than a “come on we gotta finish.”
I watched this live and was screaming for the referee to do something. That is literally their job, there is no way Ashley should have been allowed to continue after this.
Perhaps they should have stopped but this means a lot to the skaters, if she didn't get up or was showing signs that she physically couldn't skate safely, they would have called it but you can see the partner asking if she was OK and she wanting to carry on, if he sensed that she couldn't do the lifts and jumps because she was too wobbly or not with it, he would have stopped but this is a long long time training and putting time and sweat into this that falling twice is bad enough, not finishing is like adding salt, so it's easy to see why they didn't automatically step in, I personally think they should have stepped in, but I also understand why they didn't.
I notice she is having bad landing the moment they start..Maybe there is something with the lady..So sad for her,but she is really professional, she never stop.
I agree with everyone else. As soon as she fell, her coach should have been on the ice, and the music should have stopped. And her partner shoudn't have touched her. She landed on her neck, and was knocked unconscious. You would think there would be protocols about falls like this given the number of falls skaters have from lifts.
L A rule you should always follow on sports; you NEVER touch a person that is unconscious, never try to lift their head or move their body because that can only bring more problems. Unless you are a person that knows how to deal with those situations, the best thing is to do nothing. It may sound silly to you, but a wrong move can kill a person or leave them with a problem for their whole life. Don’t forget that inside our head is our brain, in our neck there are very important veins... it’s very dangerous. NEVER move an unconscious person if they can be checked by an expert.
@@Prettyautumnrain didn't she stand up on her own? *well I watched it 3x now and I see what you mean. At first I thought he just tried to wake her up... I still dont think that he is the only one to blame. Even if he did touch her head/neck, she didnt stop the routine and no trainer or referee stopped it either. I do unterstand why the athletes didnt stop. A couple years ago I went skiing and broke my thumb. It didnt bother me until the next morning when I couldnt zip up my jeans. But what is a broken thumb compared to a spinal injury.
Достойны уважения за то, что завершили прокат, это сильно, настоящие профессионалы✊🏻 Надеюсь, что всё обошлось у девочки.. Насколько красиво, настолько же и опасно это всё
Can I just say.. I found this to be extremely moving regardless of the fall and fumbles and while it may not be perfection I felt like it was even more empowering to watch her get back up from two falls and skate again with her entire heart. It was beautiful because of the imperfections
Completely agree! This was spectacular to watch! Even with the imperfection, the grace presented was masterful. I love for this when watching any contestant. It was flawless regardless. So happy she’s okay. She appeared to having some balance issues midway. Was she dizzy or did she lose her spotting? Vertigo?
I don't care about the falls. This was beautiful, powerful and mesmerizing. You can see the immense talent, athleticism and strength and their charisma and relationship on ice is really exceptional. I LOVE their artistry, grace and the ease with which they make things seem which is such a testament to their strength. BRAVO ! What a pleasure to watch
He definitely was very concerned for her, that’s for sure. In an interview she said she wanted to continue, he wanted to stop right then and he continued asking her if she was sure she wanted to continue throughout the rest of the routine. Based on his reaction immediately after the fall and when they finished, I believe what she said completely.
Yes! I think her partner noticed it too. Once she jumped and got back down he seemed unconsciously reached his hands out a bit to her as if wanted to catch her because her fall was unstable and she managed to kept skating so he suddenly continue to dance and put his arms away
Oh they are beautiful to watch and my heart went out both times- but what troopers- they carried in ! Well done you two, your routine was amazing anyway! Xx
What she did with that recovery is something 99.99999999% could never do. She should be proud of this moment, in spite of the disappointment. Hope she’s okay
Yes, and that's something you definitely should not do after such a fall. She could barely stand and apparently she went unconscious for a second, that's very dangerous.
How they remembered all of that is astonishing! Still an incredible! Those falls reminded me that they are in fact mortal because that was a divine performance.
There’s a good chance she doesn’t remember the rest of the routine after the fall. She was clearly very dizzy till the end. She was quite possibly in autopilot and finished the routine based on muscle memory alone.
If his arms weren’t there semi supporting her while she was falling, she could have been paralyzed from the impact if she fell any harder on her head at that angle upside down.
Are you a medical provider? If you watch the way she started to fall she would've landed on her back, not her neck. And do you understand the dynamics and forces it takes to brake the spine or neck? She might have had a worse concussion is all. The way she fell, the back of her head connected with the ice and he slowed her fall. You can only analyze what happened, you can't say that this or that would've happened because I've seen people take some serious falls or into situations that seemed like they were going to be really serious but the person walked away pretty much unharmed. And I've seen people get seriously injured by something that wouldn't seem that bad and might cause scrapes and bruises. She was dazed.
Deathbomb9 Its kinda common sence ;-; If you fall on your neck or back or even anything you can break it. Also yes the weight counts but you have to remember the weight from her and her partner. Having maybe 200 to 250 pounds around your neck or back is a possible crack or break of a bone! You don’t need doctor knowledge, you just have to have a brain :p
@@Deathbomb9 she would have landed on her neck and then back since it was head first. Either way, falling on your back can also paralyse you and there's no need to break your spine/ neck to get paralysed. Movement is controlled by a specific amount of parts of your spine among other things, and the littlest bump that harms them can paralyse you, whether it is just for a short time or for life. But what would I know, I have only been studying medicine for more than half of my life, dear me.
Really beautiful performance in spite of the wobbles and falls. I feel that there is so much pressure on these athletes to always do more spins and higher jumps. It gets to the point that becomes life-threatening. I hope she is okay.
I agree. This is such a dangerous sport. I started following figure skating in the 60s when the famous Soviet (Union) skaters Belousova and Protopopov were the best in the world. The difference in the level of danger between then and now is enormous. They were greatly adored around the world - and didn’t really take their lives in their hands every practice session or every performance. Perhaps we should consider initiating some safety guidelines. They’re trying to reduce traumatic brain injury in other sports.
@KittyKittwoof yeah no. Coldness is much better than movement. He could’ve damaged her cervical spine leaving her paralyzed or dead. You NEVER touch a person whose had a neck/head injury. Even if their on ice. Its actually common protocol to induce hypothermia for people who’ve had serious head trauma.
I definitely agree that she was having trouble. Even before the first slip up her carriage and the movement of her arms seemed weak, almost exhausted at times. You can see her kind of wilt and then push through, over and over again through the whole performance. It was beautiful, nonetheless. But she clearly was experiencing something that needed to be addressed. Maybe her fall was the saving grace that prevented her from a much larger disaster later. I hope she feels better and recovers quickly.
I saw so many people fall on ice, they always stand up and end their round. I don’t know, maybe bcs they feels like loosing their face? (Expect those who are so badly injured they can’t stand up or are in huge pain) or they are extremely strong willed? Want to show how good they are although they made a mistake? She wanted to continue you don’t need to blame him.
Since all the comments are about the fall. Let’s not forget about how amazing their performance was! If you mess up once, you lose momentum and confidence but when she got up she didn’t show that she got up strong. Her fall was hard to watch but get got back up and finished strong. I’m so proud of her. And Leduc definitely was so supportive and helped her get up.
The fact that I can barely walk without tripping myself and then watching the two people skaters' beautiful routine made me tearful when she fell, even knowing it would happen at some point didn't take away from the magic of the performance.
It was so beautiful to watch how in tune they were together. I think her 1st fall is where she lost confidence. The second *sigh* So happy to see she appears to be not to badly hurt🤞🏼. What grit for them to get up and finish with some beautiful lifts & more. Hope they are both ok!! My thoughts are with them both.
She could've been paralysed or worse. Allowing her to continue was the height of irresponsibility. This is nothing to admire. They should have been disqualified.
I understand why she would want to continue, a high level athlete always wants to push through, that's why someone in charge should have stopped her from competing. That sort of fall is *very* dangerous and could have easily lead to traumatic life threatening injuries. Many many people have died from a brain bleed after a fall of that sort.
The amount of trust something like this requires is something most of us would probably never experience. My heart was breaking for both of them. I can only imagine how awful he must have felt in that moment not knowinf if she was ok.
Wow! This is a reflection of life. The falls and faults reflect the falls and faults in our own lives. It was perfectly imperfect. Brought me to tears.
Absolutely exquisite but at the same time extremely dangerous. This woman is a true professional, the way she recovered and continued under impossible circumstance is truly admirable. What determination.

honestly idc if “she wanted to continue” they should have automatically stopped and checked her out, finishing a damn competition is not worth getting paralyzed or losing your life smh
Monica agreed. If that were me, I’d want my skating partner to stop me and not let me continue to skate
HAPPYROSES ツ yeah but she fell on her head and neck which could be life threatening
Absolutely agreed
Exactly
I think that isn't the way skaters see it. They live their lives for that moment, and after that they live of memories. That's why they don't care watchers think they should stop.
It’s so much different watching these when you know the fall is coming. Every motion, you’re nervous
I swear!!!
Something was wrong before the fall it seems and that just made it worse!
Madison Falco haha yeah

Don’t blame the man! He clearly tried to talk to her and was ready to stop! The woman herself wanted to continue. But I agree that the coaches should’ve stop them.
priscilla crow Not really. Her landings weren’t all that horrible, she nailed some of them. It’s just the ones right before she fell and after the fall that she was off
priscilla crow do you even know anything about figure skating or are you just a random "fan"
priscilla crow i agree that her landings weren't perfect, but they were definitely not "horrible".
Okay but the way she recovered and continued is amazing and they work so well. I’m glad he actually checked her to make sure she was okay.

As a judge I wouldnt allow her to continue if a doctor doesnt check her before. Health is way more important than performance. Head injuries can be fatal and there are times you dont see the damage right immediately.
You can allow contestants to restart their rutine and discount all their previous faults.
i am sure they all do that in practice though i am also sure they get checked out afterwards!
I agree, if someone hits their head during a performance, they shouldn't be allowed to continue. The risk of a another fall is not worth further injury.

Yes he was really worried I think and as a sports woman I can understand her wanting to finish it
Rebekah Needham yes!

We also don't know what was going on in her head but clearly she decided to keep going, the reason behind that we may never know.

Yeah she must have been experiencing an injury or an underlying illness... certainly was off the entire skate. Poor thing !! Good on then for finishing
She looked unwell throughout the whole routine like even before falling.
That thought crossed my mind too 🤔 that, and being shaken a bit by the first fall certainly wouldn't aid in concentration...
especially because she seems quite tall compared to her male counterpart so it must have been even more difficult for her.
Good eye
Yeah, I was analyzing her the whole time while hoping that it wouldn't be too severe. She is certainly off her game at several points. Low blood sugar must certainly be a top culprit. Add in the nature of ice and that first fall.
athletes shouldn’t have to starve themselves to perform, it’s life threatening. it’s so much more important to have proper fuel.

As much as it sucks, it happens all the time
Yeah its been like that since the start, I was wondering whether her skates were off or something.
I was about to say it seemed like there was a problem with her shoes. Seemed like shes always slipping or landing out of balance.

She wasn't in a position to make a decision.
Don't tell me. Let me guess. English isn't your primary language.
Still unsafe she already seemed off before that though. Don’t ignore your body it’s so important
As a figure skater who has been skating for 5 years I've never seen anybody fall in that position she's very strong.
As a never-done-proper-figure-skating, I've seen this type of fall happen in a few other videos too... Usually that's the end of the routine. In Ashley's case, apparently she went to the hospital afterwards and turns out she did have a concussion...
Do you think she feinted then maybe?
Omg you are a subscriber to collie
I lllllioooooooooooovvvvvveveveveveveve her soooooooooooooooo much
@@Abacus_Zephyr she could have fainted, maybe dehydrated, stressed, not enough fuel/food in her body, POTS, I have it & I blackout a lot. I wouldn’t go on ice even if…
I could tolerate that awful noise & know makes, or have enough stability in my too bendy body and I’d need a duvet cut and sewn so I could wear it 😂
Loads of reasons why she could be fainting, blacking out and having syncope attacks.
Sarah Lourdes he continued to go on whether she went on herself or not. They both made their choices
Браво!!!Тысячу раз пять с плюсом ставлю!!!Со слезами на глазах смотрела.
I watched this live and was screaming for the referee to do something. That is literally their job, there is no way Ashley should have been allowed to continue after this.
Referee? In figure skating? Bahahahha.
In any other sport if an athlete landed on their head on ice from a height it would have been stopped
I know right? She was knocked all the way out.
I thought it was the first one, the second one caught me completely off guard
Right? I was like: It wasn't that bad,and then...
She was having bad landings the whole time. And they weren’t connected to each other when they were skating.
Exactly. I thought I was prejudiced from all the Scott & Tessa videos I've been watching!
Yeah sure, you guys are the expert 😒
Eve Danss they never said that they were experts 😂
I notice she is having bad landing the moment they start..Maybe there is something with the lady..So sad for her,but she is really professional, she never stop.
I disagree. They were probably sore from previous practices.
Отличный прокат,поддержки супер,браво девчуле,не смотря на такое падение достойно закончили прокат!!!
You can see from the beginning that she isn’t right all the stumbles and trip ups
She didn't trip, he dropped her!
You could tell from the veginning something wasnt right with her though.
Yes...she was struggling with the landings
I don't think he dropped her, her balance was off and it pulled him over onto her.
Dina Hinckley if you watch it back she actually moves out of position causing him to drop her as the weight is shifted
She deserves a medal for continuing on. I would have cried and hell no I’ m outta here.
If it was me, even if I had da courage to continue, the ice would have already cracked cuz my tears would have melted it ;-;
I agree with everyone else. As soon as she fell, her coach should have been on the ice, and the music should have stopped. And her partner shoudn't have touched her. She landed on her neck, and was knocked unconscious. You would think there would be protocols about falls like this given the number of falls skaters have from lifts.
Trudy Isaacs he wanted to help her and obviously want her to stop, but she made him go on. but yeah, he should’ve officially put a stop to it
I don't understand why the partner shouldn't touch her? I'm pretty sure that everyone tries to wake up someone who is unconscious
Her parents are her coaches!

Надеюсь, что всё обошлось у девочки.. Насколько красиво, настолько же и опасно это всё
So glad she's ok, the choreography was amazing.
Skating was so beautiful😍
Can I just say.. I found this to be extremely moving regardless of the fall and fumbles and while it may not be perfection I felt like it was even more empowering to watch her get back up from two falls and skate again with her entire heart. It was beautiful because of the imperfections
And the way her partner responded with so much concern, it was touching in so many ways ♥️
Completely agree! This was spectacular to watch! Even with the imperfection, the grace presented was masterful. I love for this when watching any contestant. It was flawless regardless. So happy she’s okay. She appeared to having some balance issues midway. Was she dizzy or did she lose her spotting? Vertigo?
I mean when you fall in a competition the only thing you can do is get back up again
I love this comment. I simply love this comment…❤😊

Her strength was incredible, how scared he was is heartbreaking to watch, they should've stopped. One's LIFE just isn't worth it.
He definitely was very concerned for her, that’s for sure. In an interview she said she wanted to continue, he wanted to stop right then and he continued asking her if she was sure she wanted to continue throughout the rest of the routine. Based on his reaction immediately after the fall and when they finished, I believe what she said completely.
who else came to the comments to make see if it’s bad before they watched it😂

too scared that i asked my friend to watch it for me and rate it

She seemed off during all the performance
I noticed that too. So scary 😟
Right. I hope she got checked out, she looked exhausted.
yeah i noticed that too
Agreed. She kept stumbling, even before the fall
Xx
This lady has a heart of a lion
The fact that she was able to finish just shows her skill and commitment. Even with the fall and the shaky landings, it was beautiful!
о полном непрофессионализме это свидетельствует
What she did with that recovery is something 99.99999999% could never do. She should be proud of this moment, in spite of the disappointment. Hope she’s okay
Yes
@@inesouajilani8905 yes
But its still dangerous and all to continue
She went to the hospital afterwards and was diagnosed with a concussion, shes was back on competition 2 months after 👍
Yes, and that's something you definitely should not do after such a fall. She could barely stand and apparently she went unconscious for a second, that's very dangerous.
This was such a beautiful dance piece regardless of the falls she was so strong!!❤️
How they remembered all of that is astonishing! Still an incredible! Those falls reminded me that they are in fact mortal because that was a divine performance.
There’s a good chance she doesn’t remember the rest of the routine after the fall. She was clearly very dizzy till the end. She was quite possibly in autopilot and finished the routine based on muscle memory alone.
yes quite beautiful performance, beautiful choice of music. pitty the accident
Deathbomb9 Are you a medical provider?
@Deathbomb9 I wasn’t aware you were a doctor or a medical provider either.
My thoughts exactly, it must be so difficult keep having to outperform your last performance.
Sports is more about money today rather then joyful
Так жалко ребят, сердце болело за них, ребята не унывайте жизнь состоит из падений и подъёмов, у вас всё впереди, удачи вам.
She was clearly struggling throughout the routine. They needed to stop. He’s lucky he didn’t make her injuries worse.
It’s not his fault she didn’t want to stop. He did not force her to get up and continue. That was her.
That's why they say " the show must go on "
I saw so many people fall on ice, they always stand up and end their round. I don’t know, maybe bcs they feels like loosing their face? (Expect those who are so badly injured they can’t stand up or are in huge pain) or they are extremely strong willed? Want to show how good they are although they made a mistake? She wanted to continue you don’t need to blame him.
I honestly don't think he realized how bad that fall was in the moment...
I’m pretty sure he did.... it was her that doesn’t seem to. He stopped. She got up and wanted to continue.
That and She was having trouble long before she fell the second time.
Background Music * literally makes me cry, and all of the sudden, SHE FALLS!? My gush! My hearts broken 💔💔💔

So graceful. Even if she fell and passed out, she’s such a queen for just getting back up and gracefully finishing her routine.

Бравоооооо 👏👏👏👏 за выдержку , мужество и стойкость. Милая пара. Надеюсь что у девушки всё без последствий. Здоровья вам милые фигуристы ♥️💞👏👏👏
Knowing the title, this was the most suspenseful video I've ever watched.
This was so beautiful! And I’m simply amazed that she was able to finish. Hope she’s doing okay and they doesn’t beat themselves up too much.
I understand why she would want to continue, a high level athlete always wants to push through, that's why someone in charge should have stopped her from competing. That sort of fall is *very* dangerous and could have easily lead to traumatic life threatening injuries. Many many people have died from a brain bleed after a fall of that sort.
I agree. If the coaches don't immediately act, the referee certainly could and should stop the performance.
Me to maybe she’ll be OK.
I’m glad you showed the whole thing and not just her fall. What a beautiful synchronized dance!

Wow. I commend her for continuing. I can’t believe she was able to do the other moves despite being dazed. What a trooper. Resilience.
