Great EQ. I have one hyperion in my 500 rack for 3 years now. btw: Awesome features, you forgot to mention: Besides stereo and dual mono it has also a mid side mode. When overloading to distortion the big green buttons (left/mid and/or right/side) turn red. And especially useful, when you're not using the plugin controls: There's an A and B button on the hardware to switch between two EQ settings. Oh, and the knobs are touch-sensitive - When touching a knob the LED brightens up. I really love this EQ. Great sounding unit with highly useful features!
Great video Dave! This EQ sounds really similar to the SSL UVEQ but the added plugin control and THD are nice features. There are some other nice things like switchable bell/shelf for the low and high bands. Thanks for the demo
@@MixingMusicAnalog Yeah it's similar not the same! I really like the extra features on this EQ but the UV is really inexpensive. I have it patched to the insert of my master bus.
Dave do you have a Manley Massive Passive in your racks? That one is almost like buying a new console...so if you don't have it, its easy to see why this EQ would look good to just about anybody. Especially with the digital control and recallable settings. Wes Audio's stuff is all absolutely incredible. Always thought about getting some of their gear, now this one is on the list as well as the SPL Big, a solid buss comp, a pair of Capi Heider preamps, and a pair of Pultecs. Hey I dont want much, just 1 of everything and 2 of some things!!!
I dont have the Massive Passive. I tried theirU?A plugins and was not impressed so I am not sure how much the hardware would impress me. There are super expensive, that much I know
@@MixingMusicAnalog I'm trying to decide between getting a Titan with a Hyperion and a couple other pieces from Wes or something else like an SPL PQ, Buzz, or Bettermaker. Audio Animals has a video where I can't tell the difference between the hardware and plugin when they are used on the same part of the track. Another mastering guy I know told me the real magic is in cranking the input, which Paul did not do on the Audio Animals video. He was probably using his B2 Bomber as well, and I know that colors things. So, I read that the PQ can do everything the Massive Passive does and compared the PA PQ plugin vs the Massive hardware through Access Analog as well as the UAD and Acustica emulations. Probably one or two other plugins. The PQ plugin results rivaled, if not surpassed what I could do with the Massive hardware. I dither before my first hardware insert with Maat Linpro and have found that dithering before hardware provides a significantly different sound. The PA PQ was the only plugin that rivaled the Massive hardware in terms of fullness, smoothness, and those other hardware qualities that the majority of plugins fail to replicate. This Hyperion sounds tremendous. The THD really adds a lot and may be even more effective than pushing the input on the PQ. If you guys have not tested any version of the PQ or the hardware Massive, it'd be really interesting to get your take on them all. Keep up the great work!

Thanks for sharing the tips!
This is so interesting. I hope other companies do this, too.
Let's hope so!

Really? I have not heard the Violet EQ yet. Interesting!

That SSL desk really is a work of art
Thanks!

There are problems with the Wes Audio 500 series modules and the Neve 500 series racks.
I was not aware of that. I used to have a Neve 500 rack and it was really great.
@@MixingMusicAnalog yeah the screws get in the way
HAVE YOU MESSED AROUND WITH VCR SATURATION YET?
VCR saturation? What is that?
@@MixingMusicAnalog you ever mixdown into vhs player that has 4 heads with 2 stereo tracks
