- How to shorten your new Citizen watch band (non pin style). I am shortening the band on my new Citizen Men's BF0580-57L Silver-Tone Stainless Steel Watch.
Here is the watch on amazon: www.amazon.com/...
Citizen has instructions here: www.citizenwatc... - Хобби
I am not a strong dude. At first I sat at my desk in front of my computer to remove the links on my husband's new watch but couldn't do it--and I am not a person who gives up. So I placed everything in a tray, used a large metal paper clip and I stood up over it. Standing gave me leverage and more strength. My tip is to dig that nail or paper clip behind the tiny screw/bolt and wiggle it a bit then shove it under and PUSH! If it doesn't work the first and second time, keep at it. Wiggle and push and in time even the tightest pins come out. It took me much longer than it took Jeremy but the watch now fits my husband's wrist perfectly. THANK YOU JEREMY!
Does the watch have a sapphire crystal? My goodness, the tile to watch contact triggers my OCD.
It doesn't. It's mineral. I love Citizens and have many that have been around a while and none have a scratch on the face! I wouldnt even think about buying a mineral crystal watch.
Take a link out of each side so the watch sits on your wrist evenly. As you can see @ 3:58 it sits unevenly with two links from the same side.
OH! You are SO going to save me! I've changed the band before, my Seiko. But it was much easier. This style band, the pins are subtly hidden. You are making it look doable now. I haven't tried yet, but I'm excited by how nicely you presented this, and right away I saw how you got to the pin to expose it! Excellent job.
OK, now I've tried it. Got the pin out to open the band, but can not budge the link pins. Tried this small nail and a push pin. No luck yet.
Thank you from 2022. I was given a watch for my birthday but it was too big. I hadn't adjusted a band like this before and didn't even know where to start. The first pin was a bit tough and I needed the pliers to get it out but after that no dramas. Much appreciated!
I adjust my own watches, but I've never had to adjust a watch with these links. I just recently purchased my dad a Citizen watch (with these links). After watching this video, I took me less than 3 minutes to remove the links, thanks!
Got given my late Dads H500, and I have a smaller wrist. This video has saved me sending it to the shops to replace. His was a little gunned up from wear and tear, so this will be a little harder on older watches with the same set up. But thank you so much!
Good video. Adjusted my new Citizen with a paperclip, hammer, & hard surface under 20 minutes. Snug perfection.👍
Thanks again used your video seven years ago. Just bought a new watch had to do the same adjustments.
That's great! I just received mine in the mail from amazon. Now I can shorten the band myself.
Good video. You got me started on a successful adjustment without breaking the band. Thank you!
Thanks! This was really easy once I saw how the pin was removed.
Thanks for the video. Never having removed pins from bracelet links, I would have never tried this without seeing your video first. Couple things: 1) this is a real PITA; not easy 2) seems there *MUST* be a better tool for this (although I did use the hammer & nail tactic) - - DOES ANYONE HAVE A TOOL RECOMMENDATION? 3) after a couple gentle taps on the nail with a hammer, I used an ice pick to gentley push/pry the pin out and then used pliers to gentle disengage the pin. Band now fits great. Really would like to know if a tool exists for this, or is the hammer+nail/icepick the way to go.
I think l would want to find a better surface to put a watch down on ????
i know, it irritates me to see him ruin such a beautiful watch and scratch the surface.
@@goldenphoenix4475 Glad Im not the only person who wants to choke him for doing this.
@@billtibbs me too
Exactly
Lol. I was cringing at that too.
Thanks for posting. This type with no pins is much harder to remove without a special tool. I used a combination of a stout paper clip to release the link and a small screwdriver to push it out. Watch your fingers !
My daughter gave me a Citizen watch for Christmas and the band was a little big for my wrist. Your video is very helpful. Thank you✌️

Good
This is a great video. I successfully adjusted the wrist band. The first pin gave me trouble, but after I concentrated on using the hole in the pin instead of pushing down on the button, it went quickly. I also used lineman's pliers to remove the pin after I got 1/4 inch out.
IT'S NOT THAT EASY!!!! Ok, with the help of this video I got the job done, and I would not have been able to do it without this video, so thanks for the good instructional video. HOWEVER...It's not as easy as this guy makes it look. Possibly because by the time this guy works on this watch several times the links are looser and easier to work. Mine was tight and I had to use way more pressure than expected, and than shown here, to pop out that pin. It's easy enough to get back in.
Hello stranger from a year ago, my god is your comment appropriate, I have 1 pen out and I am cursing this stupid watch band to get the second one out. I have the first nub out but cant get it to budge any more.
Many thanks from down under. My model has a simplified set up again, in the fact only a one sided L shaped pin with dimple. So after a lot of wrangling, found that had to manoeuvre link off a bottom fixed tab to facilitate removal of same. Then in my case two links either side .
great video man. i couldnt figure out how to do it and no other video showed this particular type of watch. thanks
Great video! I just took out two links on my new citizen, it had the same pin mechanism. I used a thumb tack, and nothing else! Thanks for the video
Awesome, this helped a ton! I was thinking I'd have to take mine in to a jeweler. The only bad thing so far is this bracelet style really seems to pull arm hair!
Thanks for the video, worked perfect using a push-pin/thumb tack.
I searched for a long time before finding your video, it really helped me. Thank you so much!
thanks! this helped me lengthen mine after going to have it shorted (5 euros) and realizing I preferred it longer. :)
Thanks bro i was super confused by this bracelet. I've never seen these links before lol
Use the foam from the bottom of the box to lay the bezel on. Scratching the glass is the WORST!. Great video
It is also better to take a link out of each side,it cannot be the first time
you have removed links !
this did not work for me. i applied alot of pressure but the link won't come out
same here
Same here. I actually broke my screwdriver head in the process lol
I tried the nail. tried a jeweler's screwdriver, etc. but nothing seemed to work.
If force doesn't work, you're not using enough of it. I just did one tonight and had to use way more force than shown here.
@@TheLarryBrown i didn't wanna break it. there was a marking where i put pressure too so i was like "im gonna stop now" before it gets even more bad lol since it was a gold watch the gold was coming off
Saw everything I needed to see. Many thanks, my watch fits perfectly now!
Get the tool that turns the pin as it pushes it out. When it’s pushed out enough rotate the pin manually or w pliers etc and it will come completely out.
Wow. I saw a Citizen watch I was thinking of buying, but didn’t see any link pins on the band. This looks like it might be easier.
Thanks for this extremely helpful video. I can now wear my Christmas present from my wife.
Thanks man i put my watch on my dog and it couldnt get out
True story
I have no idea what that means.
I have the same watch I believe. I also got another one slightly more expensive but the links come out the standard way but it also had another piece on the links and I didn't know until I removed them and found that the links don't fit securely in now....
Thanks Jeremy for the tips; you made it super easy :).
Thank you man for your video! I've been looking around n around my new watch without a damn pin hole. Now i know how to do it:) i am real happy that i find this video
FYI. Make sure you have a soft working surface. Dragging your watch with the crystal side facing on a hard surface such as what's shown would scratch the crystal. It's one thing when dealing with a cheap beater watch and it's another when working on an expensive watch like an Omega.
Good job ! Just fixed my watch
Is there anyway you can do a closeup! I got the pin out but I can't get my license no off??? It's not just dropping off? Do I need to take two pins out?? I can't see exactly what you are doing because no close ups.. I have watch the video about 15 times.. aahhhhhh( that was a yell! Lol) I think I have the same watch. What am I missing???
Bad camera angle. You’re not really “showing” me anything. Good effort tho
You are aware you can zoom in on any RUclips videos by pinching the screen right?
@@Jimwin2holy shit u can wow thanks
Many thanks. Clear and concise
Lol dude that's savage I cringed when I saw the nail than again when your laying the watch on bare tile ,😱
Awesome dude, saved me a trip
Don't you have to remove a link from each side so the clasp is centered ?
Potentially. It depends how many links you need to remove. If you are removing more than a couple you may want to remove one from each side. Check the current centering of your clasp before you remove. Process is the same for both sides.
OK thanks.
Yes, but that's more work.
Wont not taking links out of both sides make the watch lop sides as the clasp is going to be closer to one side?
Thanks your video was perfect, just picked up one from Amazon very nice watch. Good job ✌
Thanks Bro, I have exact watch and you made this a breeze.
I have a Citizen E650 and I’m trying to find out how to remove the spring pins to remove the band from the watch. No one has a video about that.
Great video and helped saved me some money. Thanks
Thank you couldnt figure this one out until your veedeo
Thanks. Helped me resize my partners watch. Many thanks.
Great job!
Thank you so much for helping ☺️☺️
Worked great, thanks man.
This worked perfectly! Thank you!
You're awesome man. Thanks for the effero post this!
MANY THANKS!!!!
Thanks dude for this useful info. Even the Citizen manual do not have this info. By the way, show a little love to your watch by putting a cloth padding on that tile surface. :-) Thanks again.
Why would you remove 2 links from just 1 side instead of 1 from each side to make the face of the watch sit evenly in your wrist?
Very helpful! Thank you!!
100%! Worked perfectly! Thanks!!
Thanks so much. 6yrs later
Thanks, video helped a lot
Thanks man appreciate it
Christ that was easy. Took 2-3 minutes compared to the 45 minutes on my other watch trying to hammer a paper clip through with a full sized nail hammer
Thank you kind sir. Very helpful.
Ur video really helped me out bro thanks
Very helpful. Thank you
You are awesome dude! Thanks!
Thank you so much...its really helpful to me..👌😁
0:46 , well my pin went flying into the carpet, did not know that you had to hold the other side to keep it from ejecting.
Some of my links are so hard to still get out. They literally bent all of my pin tools
Good vedio, thank you for sharing~
Great job thanks
Thanks man, great video !!
I've got a citizen eco drive!!
Do this on a microfiber cloth to avoid scratching your new watch
Thank you so much ur amazing
thank you so much great video
very thanks!
Good video 👍
The pin on the band came out when I pushed what should I do?
Anyone know where I can get those replacement pins? I can't find that style anywhere!
Make the rounds of budget jewelers in you area, call Citizen for help or else buy a similar Citizen watch for $50.
Thank you!
Thanks man!

Thank you.
