  • Was it a mistake to be shooting Total Archery Challenge without a peep? Many may say so, but find out and learn from my experiences doing this for the first time in a challenging environment. The lesson here is to make sure your gear is in perfect condition and all is good so that if you miss a shot you know that the error was yours and not the gear.

    I shoot very well to 80 yards with just a kisser button. But it took alot of practice .but we all should practice as much as possible. Keep up the great videos.

    I love combing 3d printing with archery. Just designed and printed a red dot sight mount so I can get rid of my peep too!

    Getting ready to try " PEEP LESS" with the aid of one of your KILLER nose buttons!! Looking forward to seeing if this will improve my accuracy. Alwats a pain with glasses to focus on the pins through that tiny whole!!! THX for posting this and ALL your GREAT videos!! 👍🏹

    Just out of curiosity what is the total weight of the arrows you shoot on average for hunting..

  • @loserjw91
    @loserjw91 2 года назад +2

    Have never had a peep on any bow. Didn't learn with one and couldn't imagine having to look through a tiny hole to shoot accurate plus the headache of twist etc.

    • @ApexPredatorOutdoors
      @ApexPredatorOutdoors  2 года назад

      100 percent man. I started that way and I feel like it just complicated things.

  • @shanestout3543
    @shanestout3543 Год назад +2

    I also have one other question I was curious do you anchor under the tip of your nose with your nose button or to the side of the tip of your nose.. I only ask because I've never had professional lessons and I shoot I think pretty decent but I put mine underneath the direct center of my nose but I've noticed I have to turn my head a lot so I'm wondering if I am kind of overdoing it

    • @ApexPredatorOutdoors
      @ApexPredatorOutdoors  Год назад

      That's kind of a personal preference. The idea is that you should naturally come to draw the way you always do and the nose button is just there to tell your brain that you are in the right spot. When placing a nose button you should always draw and anchor without it, mark the string and then place the thickest part of the nose button right there. Then come to full draw again with your eyes closed and check if it's in the right place by touch your nose to the button and when you open your eyes you should be looking naturally through the sight to the pin without having to move your head.

    I have been thinking about giving some (free) basic compound lessons for beginners as part of our archery club. I have two bows that are very adjustable (Martin Rage and PSE Miniburner). I was thinking about setting them up with no peep and just have the students focus on a comfortable anchor point. (I shot that way on the 90s, but was no where near as good as I am now with a peep.) I was wondering if you would recommend that or do you think I should take the time to readjust peeps? I envision having them shoot out to just 20 yards to get started and see if they like archery enough to invest in their own equipment. Thanks and I just want to say again, I enjoy your videos! (Though it seems like I'm not always notified when your new ones come out for some reason). Keep up the good work!

    • @ApexPredatorOutdoors
      @ApexPredatorOutdoors  3 года назад +1

      Thanks Ben! Personally, I would say that for real beginners it would be a good idea to do it without a peep. It's less complicated for a beginner and really runs home that consistency idea, and then in the future when they graduate to newer or better bows they can add one in if they want. I remember when I started out if I got a 8 inch group at 20 yards I thought I was doing amazing! I just wanted to make sure I was doing it right. Peepless is great If they decide that they want to go the recurve route, it will also make that transition much easier I would think as well. Maybe even do one with and one without? I just think it is great that you are doing that community outreach!

      I just received the miniburner (40 lbs) and put a dloop on it, no peep. It was a bit of a challenge to shoot at 26.5" because I am 31", but oh boy, did it shoot. Hahaha. The first group at 10 yards was amazingly good, but the first two arrows of the second group were touching, so I backed up to 20 yards and held the same spot just to see how much drop there was going to be. I took a nock off one of the first arrows! I shot the bow out to 60 yards and found myself wanting the peep, but I think for beginners at 10 and 20, no peep is probably the way to go.

      @@benjamintice7335 That's Awesome! It took me a while to trust the process out past 40. I thought there is no way I can make the shot. Then I remembered how I struggled WITH a peep past 40! I decided that I was ready to part with my arrows if I lost them, and just sent it. I was surprised to see it hit the target at all at 70 yards. Then I just went further and further to 150 yards. I did lose two arrows in the process, but that was when I was lobbing 581 grain bombs! I backed out down to 480 grains and I think I'll have a bit more confidence in that distance..

    • @benjamintice7335
      @benjamintice7335 3 года назад +1

      Wow. 150! I haven't tried more than 100, but I know it can be done. My current sight on my target bow only goes to 82. Those longer distances are sure challenging, but really test your form. These bows these days are incredible, or maybe as I get older I just pay attention to technique better. Regardless it sure is fun!

    With a 31” ATA bow, my string doesn’t touch my nose, so I am reluctant to go with just my jaw anchor point and kisser button.

    • @ApexPredatorOutdoors
      @ApexPredatorOutdoors  3 года назад +1

      It is possible your draw length may be too short or too long, I have a 33 inch ATA bow and for two months I had a 28 inch ATA bow and my string touched my nose on both... If you share some images with me on instagram I can try to 3D print a larger nose button for you to make up the difference... If it's only a few mm away that is...

      Lol, not this time. I was testing like my third variation of the button and when I tied it back on I didn't serve it good enough. One string came off and it started sliding all over, eventually just came off all together!

    How fast was your bow shooting at TAC with those Heavy arrows? I am asking because I am shooting a bow with even average weight arrows is only 260ish.

    • @ApexPredatorOutdoors
      @ApexPredatorOutdoors  2 года назад

      Not very fast, maybe 235 fps. The hang time on those 100 yard shots was amazing to see though!

    • @ApexPredatorOutdoors

      I didn't clock it with these heavy 580 gr. arrows but with a 475 grain arrow it shoots 268 fps...

    Nice video and feedback. . .i believe the TAC is coming to PA next month, a few of the guys are going. We run an archery club in PA, we have been starting to set our course up for normal and 100 yard shots. Hit us back up maybe we can come up with a challenge that will promote us to 1k mark.
