If you check out the prime time footages of Magic, Bird, Kareem, and Hakeem, John Stockton...you’ll find they are actually very skillful and have very high basketball IQ. If you go see Wilkins, Drexler, David Robinson, Karl Malone, Rodman, Barkley (yes. Sir Charles can explode like a dynamite!) you’ll find them very athletic and strong. Not to mention MJ, a perfect combination of skills and athleticism. 90’s is indeed a more intense and competitive era than today. That’s not a question at all.

Teams today are giving up just as many buckets adjusted for pace as mid to late 90s teams, and 80s and early 90s played at a very similar pace and gave up the same amount of buckets. Today's rules unquestionably favor the offensive player more than other eras so scoring should be at an all time high but it isn't. It's not easier just stylisitically different

Sure you can sink or swim with it but it's a more efficient shot for most player than taking 2s and provides spacing so players can actually get to the hoop and get the easy 2s and FTs.
