@3:40 Just be aware that if he's got level 3, he's probably buffering it and obviously that beats the DI. Some Ryu's will bait this on purpose. Highly situational but good to keep in mind. You can definitely hit him out of HP > H.Hasho with a normal as well.

Great tips, but I may have a more reliable alternative to the HP xx H Hasho answer at 3:30. Trades ease for consistency. If you're talking specifically HP xx Hashogeki, you should always be able to challenge. I cant test right now bc Im not at my computer, but looking at the video and frame data, theres a 9 frame gap between stHP and the Heavy hashogeki. Naturally this means you could press any 9 frame or faster button to interrupt. Whats important here though, is that, if a special was 10 frames faster, it would actually jail you in block since the attack would hit before your blockstun ended. And thankfully, every special besides heavy Hasho and Heavy Donkey kick are at least 11 frames faster. This means any special Ryu cancels into at that range will jail you in block except the H Hasho and H Donkey Kick. And since Donkey kick would have an 8 frame gap, you can react to a cancelfron stHP and challenge with an 8 frame or faster move risk free. At least in theory. I'll test after work in like 6-7 hours. Also, Denjin Hasho would frame trap, since its only 9 frames faster, but since Ryu cant use any other strength when Denjin is charged, theres no guess to deal with.
And I want to make it clear, I love this series. I think it's so important to include bite sized answers to common problems to give players a starting point, and I give you a lot of credit for working to fill that niche

If ryu has lvl3 then the DI to beat HP hasho doesn't work. If he doesn't you can DI HP hasho and donkey kick. But more practically, if you predict hashogeki you can just mash, heavy hasho always leaves a gap you can jab or even press a bigger button through, while other strengths are true blockstrings because ryu's pressure is trash. Even after 5mp he doesn't get anything of note, light donkey kick frame traps but if you block it then you basically get your biggest punish. 2mp-> mp hasho is a frame trap but it's hardly worth it since 2mp isn't really encouraging the other player to mash by virtue of being 0 on block instead of minus. Yeah I'm a little mad. But if the whispers of lk hasho being safe are true, then 2024 will truly be the year of the dragon
Also worth mentioning that hp hasho is unsafe vs DI, the medium version is not. I usually try to predict when they're gonna DI and bait it by doing the medium hasho, which allows me to counter di

they just shouldnt have characters that are all plus frames and have no gaps in there attacks and they can just throw attacks forever making u unable to attack. there is alot of characters like this you can keep pressure and have reach and can constantly attack. I look at the teir list and there is characters that are better then others. like chun is s plus and guile is s plus. balance the fucking game. so stupid. Im playing my alt cammy and she has no answer or reach to do anything about it so im stuck blocking the whole match. thats not right.
Cammy is also S rank more or less in this version. I think you need to spend some time re-watching your replays and going over some strategies in training mode because she absolutely has the tools to win
I hate Ryu, this PoS, the most in every FG. "He's honest" is such a meme and a myth. He's cheap and people need to stop circlejerking about this alleged honesty.

Yes please counter our HP Hasho with guaranteed DI when we have lvl3 qued up. Definitely a risk free counter there.

Tbh that’s not a Ryu issue but a general sf6/spacing issue. Try to watch your replays and check your spacing when you get hit

Yeah I think I should update this one to reflect some of his s2 changes. Not a HUGE difference but def some things changed

Is that Hashogeki DI still valid after the buffs?
Yes but just be careful if Ryu has lvl 3 super bc he can react to your DI can cancel into lvl 3 from hashogeki
