While I agree that the Vulture Bounty mission is overpriced for its content (for 7 dollars it should be multiple missions, unique player home ship, stuff, etc..), and having achievements disabled for non BGS mods sucks (just get the Baka achievement enabler mod), those are still flimsy reasons for review bombing the game. This stuff is optional, not the base game, so I'm thinking its just the Starfield/BGS haters and trolls acting up. If one enjoys the game, great. If not ,play another game.

I wouldn't mind micro transactions if they were indeed micro. $7 for 1 quest is steep and will ensure that probably more than 50% of players don't purchase it.

I get why people are angry especially for this Bounty Hunter one. I also don’t like paying for mods but I also don’t mind paying for mods from creators I like soooo yea. I hate the system but will use it for the creator… I think I’m just the target demographic in this case.
Also let’s be real here and say our favorite mod creator didn’t use CC and instead decided to upload it on to Patreon, it would likely be a 5 dollar mod there too but we won’t bat a eye at that.
Now the one complaint I do have is these damn virtual dollars I’ll have to pay 10 bucks to get one 5 dollar mod. Now that is the scummy part we should be angy about.

I have no problem with modders selling their mods. I have a BIG problem with BGS, themselves, asking us for MORE money for THEIR content when they haven't even released the DLC we all paid $100 for yet and many in the playerbase think the base game is still unfinished. They should have laundered their reputation and the games reputation before selling anyone macrotransactions. They've burnt any goodwill they were starting to build for the game.

They provide an expanded faction, HQ hangout/building, scanner upgrade, new currency for effectively free Legendary gear, a full mission/space station, higher value mission board, unique spacesuit, 2 unique cutter/weapons, all for free, right?
Then people are offended they put a second part, a nice gun and some clothing behind a cheap paywall?
It's a bargain. People will throw away $7 on a couple energy drinks (they'll just piss away later).

@@alexpena4091 I might not have gone that high (value in $), but I can absolutely see the value at 2x the DLC price without breaking a marketing sweat.
Putting it all behind a paywall would have also silenced those that pretend 'part 1' has no value.
If that's the answer Bethesda chooses going forward, it will be because of complaints.
Imagine that, "We gave everyone something for free, but OK if you don't like that we'll just wall it off next time and every one pays." :)

I don't agree with review bombing. Its easily misused for counter productive purposes. - I simply don't bother with content mods that aren't tagged "achievement friendly" for the time being.
The creations system is important to this games continued success, and the success of creations content - if people aren't using it, that says more than "attacking the game". Which can be provoked for ulterior motives other than whatever is stated. - However using it, but having a problem with it, and review bombing - To me that seems counter-intuitively trying to have your cake and eat it.
The realists perspective on anything is, "where too many conflicting interests exist, there are no solutions, only compromises", but the thing about 'compromises', is theres plenty of room for improvement, for all concerns, as long as they remain invested.
Given the reasons generally offered for review bombing, often makes me wonder whether those people are being genuine.

Absolutely agree that locking the second quest of a brand new faction behind a paywall sucks - especially when you consider how long we have waited for fixes in the main game. Would have left a better taste, maybe, if they had made the Trackers Alliance questing part of the DLC, or just left it as part of mission board quests. As it stands, it just stinks of baiting a hook to capture the equivalent of micro transactions. Will just make it easier for me to move on to the Elden Ring DLC dropping next week.

  • @1001pierre

its not only the 7$ mission. Its the lack of moderation of the other creation. We have a 2$ gun that breaks sound. We have a 1$ Stat Change on a single gun, that just adds 20 health. This either broken or lazy mod design should be reported....but we dont have a report function.
Then the issue is with the pricing. 10$ for a single new Hab for the ship, or 5$ for several habs with the Crimson Fleet theme.
5$ for a noodle stand or a new vendor or 5$ for a complete new space mining faction plus station management or a new companion with over 1200 voice lines.
    This is a shitshow.

Also as someone here said if you dont want to pay than dont
Like Sista Citizen said Bethesda doesnt care if you cheat or use mods they just want you to have fun your way
Want to spawn in a billion creds go ahead they dont care plus unlike Nexus Mods when starfield is in need of an update the game will automatically update the mods as well no need to go through the process of deleting a mod entirely to go through thebsame 45 minute headache

Likely in a few years BGS will have provided just enough content and fixes that mod creators start to take it more seriously and we will have a lively community that actually fix Starfield, just like Skyrim, and keep the game alive, which BGS can cash in on.

Imagine if the dark brotherhood assassination quests from Elder Scrolls where individually locked behind a pay wall, I understand what you mean with these mods will become free but they are not yet and they know people will buy into it enough to justify doing this over and over again. This content should be free, it is crazy that quests as simple a as a bounty are now all the sudden considered worth paying money for. We should pay attention to history, I fully agree so let's look at Bethesda's track record over the last decades, they keep pushing micro transactions, from horse armor to the creation club, every new title they released they grew more greedy, they kept pushing the boundaries of what they could get away with and I promise you it is unlikely that they will stop doing this. Now I ask you is not insanely depressing that Bethesda has become like this? The community keeps pushing back and yet they keep coming back with it, so yes you can choose not to buy it but the problem is that it is there to begin with.

Money is what keeps them working on updates and new games and employing thousands of people and the lights on. Name one other AAA company that listens to their customer base more than Bethesda. Just because you want something one way doesn’t mean 20 others in front of you don’t want something different so how do you please everyone? Ever? I never said the purchase was mandatory I explained the sentiment of the outrage, is review bombing the correct response, why would it not be, it has drawn attention of the devs and it is the most effective way to get them to listen in other cases that's why it happens. Also I never argued that mod author's paywalling their mods is a problem, i argued from the perspective that the trackers alliance is made by Bethesda directly which I still think it since I cannot find anything that says otherwise.
