One suggestion I highly recommend would be to replace the rubber hot and cold washer supply hoses with stainless steel braided hoses. I'm a master plumber and have been in the plumbing industry for over 50 years which I have seen many of the rubber hot and cold washer hoses burst causing major water damage.
At our first home in Texas, we had the washer and dryer in the garage. We had that rubber hose burst while doing laundry. A neighbor knocked on our door telling us we had water pouring out of our garage! After that mess, we've always replaced with the metal braided hose. Luckily we really didn't have damage in the garage.
Good choice. I think I would have gone with side by side washer dryer and put cabinets or shelves above the appliances - depending upon cost. I’m vertically challenged myself so I’d need a step stool of sorts.
I really like the way you made use of your washer and dryer / storage closet. Love the wheels so you can move the shelving if needed! Thank you for including where you bought everything and the price. Great job, on your closet!
We are leaving tomorrow for TV. I'm leaving a 3000 Sq ft house with a 800 Sq ft pool house. I sold everything and have all my worldy possessions in the back of my infinity qx50. It's scary, but exciting. Love your content.
Awesomeness! Congratulations! Thanks so much! Glad you are enjoying our channel. We remember that same feeling of getting rid of most of the stuff, packing up the car and the nervous excitement of beginning a new chapter of life and a new adventure. Good luck! Safe travels! @@Susie-Joy We stopped halfway. We are traveling with an elderly dog. By this time tomorrow, we will be unloading all of our worldly possessions from the back of 2 midsized SUVs. It's exciting and a little scary at the same time
@@sgp1489 I hope that your trip to TV went well. We're in the process of decluttering so that we'll be prepared to make the move into a smaller home, too. I'm impressed that you were able to pare down enough to fit it all into the back of your SUVs. I think we'll need a Uhaul truck or a pod.
Oh Michael & Tiffany….if there was a way for me to not “like” this video but instead LOVE this video, I would!! So here…I’ll put the hearts here! ❤❤❤ I absolutely love how you worked this space!!! I can be quite OCD with cleanliness and organization and this set-up is completely up my alley!!! I am so glad these videos are here and something I can reference in the future when I’m ready to organize MY laundry space!! Another job well done! Awesome! ❤
Great storage ideas. I would try to put lighter bulk stuff (like Costco T.P. or paper towels) on top of the stackable as long as there isn't a vent or exhaust up there. Also, a wall of those rolling racks along a wall in the garage would give you a metric ton of space! I'm sure someone sells heavy clear vinyl covers with a zipper like they use for rolling clothing racks to help keep the dust off. That space between the stackable and the rolling cart is a perfect place for a folding two or three step ladder (also from Costco) to reach things in the kitchen cabinets.
Awesomeness! Glad it was helpful! Congratulations on your new home purchase here at TV! Welcome to The Villages! Good luck with the move. Keep us posted. Thanks!
I like the way you think! My husband & I turned our coat closet into a pantry (I have more food than coats - haha!) Just booked our Lifestyle Visit, and we’re so excited! Your videos have been so helpful with our decision-making process. Thank you!
I’ve been waiting for this video since you mentioned it, and it did not disappoint! I can’t wait to get down and start my retirement down in the villages!
Thank you for another good video. Love the heavy duty cart with wheels next to the washer and dryer. What a smart idea. I think it would work well in the garage as well for extra storage. Thanks once again for sharing your great ideas. Enjoy your new washer and dryer. Great on space.
Hi Michael and Tiffany ! Love your videos on space saving ! I have a mobile home in Mass and i love the villages too ! Question I have why get a stackable when you have the room for a side by side. A lot more benefits having a side by side over a stackable. Good move buying from Costco I did the same thing they are awesome. Also bought a replacement fridge from Costco to replace the builder supplied GE and use the one I took out in the garage
Costco is Awesome! Luckily we (and a couple of other neighbors) got upgraded GE French Door fridges at the time of build (because they were out of stock on the standard side by side fridge). We did buy a garage freezer from Costco. Will share in a future video. We went with the spacesaver washer and dryer combo so we could gain the extra floor space and storage for our laundry closet. Thanks!
Good idea for extra storage. Yeah. The lack of storage would be concerning/ a problem. I have A LOT of stuff. LOL. I guess I will see for myself in a few days. I am also planning on checking out Middleton, I like the idea of more space.
In the Villages, since we have an older courtyard villa, our laundry is in the garage. I don't mind it, because I have plenty of room to spread out. But in our home in Virginia, we have a full sized dedicated laundry room on the bedroom level. Its got a big full sized window. We installed four 44" tall kitchen cabinets over the washer, dryer and sink. We also have elfa shelving with a clothes hanging bar. We have fun to store a wheeled cart as well as the carpet cleaner and the iron and ironing board. My inlaw's home in Texas had such a big laundry room that it had a bathroom IN it! 😮
Way to maximize that space! Two Questions: 1. Can we get an update on what the two garages look like in your emerald with the Tesla in one and the golf car in the other? 2. Are you still thinking of getting a courtyard villa or something at the one year mark? All your videos are fantastic, thanks for the great content!
Thanks! Sure. Will make and post a video of both of our garages and how we charge everything in the next couple of weeks. We love our Patio Villa and location but we are starting to think about what we might want to do on or around our 1 year anniversary. Stay tuned! Thanks again!
What a great idea for the movable wire shelves. Easy to clean behind it and provides lots of storage. Do you feel your house is big enough or will you eventually move? I ask because we’re used to our ranch with basement.
Thanks! It definitely makes that space more versatile and usable. A smaller house with less storage (and no basement) definitely takes some getting used to.
Hi Michael, love your videos. How wide is the new rolling shelf. Is it small enough to turn sideways and roll against wall with your Viva towels? Then maybe there’s room for a second rolling shelf sideways for even more storage.
I enjoy watching you both organizing your new home and exploring TV. You did a great job with the laundry room and there was no heavy remodeling required.
Thanks Debbie! We appreciate you watching and leaving comments since the beginning. The Price is Right with Bob Barker and Let’s Make a deal with Monty Hall were two of my favorite game shows growing up.
I've never in my life had a laundry room. Even growing up in a 4 bedroom home, there was no laundry room, just a hallway laundry closet. I didn't know CostCo had free delivery. That's awesome. Can Tiffany get everything out of the dryer without a stool? That dryer looks like it's a good height for shorter people like Tiffany and me. I've used stacked W/D sets where I could read everything and some where I couldn't see or reach everything without a small stool. Great setup with the rolling shelf unit!
Thanks so much! Costco has the best customer service, delivery and return policy. Good question about the washer and dryer. Yes, Tiffany can reach everything in the washer and dryer pretty easily. 👍
We uses to renovate & flip houses - my husband got a cable camera that fits his phones, that way he could make a nickel sized hole in sheetrock and see if there is anything important behind it - just an idea for that bumpout. Or you could cut a larger hole in the top of that sheetrock and cover it up with wood, if indeed you need to close it back up due to plumbing or electrical. The Amazon cable camera that attaches to your phone was cheap, fyi.
Awesome! We now know who to call with help on any home renovations when y’all move to TV! Great tips and suggestions. Will check that out on Amazon. Thanks!
Absolutely! We've renovated homes down to the studs and also built from the ground up! Lake Denham and Citrus Grove are where we're looking, so we could indeed be future neighbors! :)
Commenting for algorithm boost and to send y'all some positive vibes, because you two are AWESOME! The storage is the one reason we are hesitant to go with the 'Charlotte' floorplan, this is helpful. Question, do you notice you immediate neighbors/hood to be permeant residents or rentals? Is there a community vibe? Thanks ♥
You Rock!! Thanks so much! Appreciate the positive vibes! I would say the majority of our neighborhood is permanent residents. We have a lot of folks in our neighborhood that are not retired yet and this is their second home. They travel back and forth between locations for work. Some come down every weekend (or every other weekend) and some come down and stay a week or two every month. Have an awesome weekend!
I love your videos, you are real people giving great tips. I have written down so many things so I remember when we finally move! But I do disagree with you washer choice. No way am I getting my king quilt in that. Why didn’t you go with a full size stackable front loader? I’m just curious.
Thank you so much! We thought about getting a stackable at first but the one we liked was out of stock. Plus we were worried about the size and the doors on the front loader washer (would it fit in the closet space and would the doors have enough room to open). So we decided to try out this GE Spacesaver knowing that Costco has an awesome 90 return policy on major appliances (they will deliver and pick up returns for free if you order online). Our thought at the time was let’s try it out and if we don’t like it we will send it back and then get the full size stackable. We love it! Works very well for our needs and our small space. Thanks!
The Ottowa is an awesome floor plan with the full laundry room/pantry off of the kitchen and it has 3 full baths. Definitely one we would consider if we move to another home here in TV! Thanks!
