Henri Matisse: A collection of 812 works (HD)
Description: "Henri Matisse is widely regarded as the greatest colorist of the twentieth century and as a rival to Pablo Picasso in the importance of his innovations. He emerged as a Post-Impressionist, and first achieved prominence as the leader of the French movement Fauvism. Although interested in Cubism, he rejected it, and instead sought to use color as the foundation for expressive, decorative, and often monumental paintings. As he once controversially wrote, he sought to create an art that would be "a soothing, calming influence on the mind, rather like a good armchair." Still life remained favorite subject
throughout his career; North Africa was also an important inspiration, and, towards the end of his life, he made an important contribution to collage with a series of works using cut-out shapes of color. He is also highly regarded as a sculptor."

I can see how pictures that look like photographs are just miming reality but art that seems to show life through a spiritual lens sees the magic overlooked in everyday life.
This is a very profound take on abstract art.

I read some of the comments. Always a risky proposition on RUclips. But nevermind. I've been an artist my entire life, since age 5 probably earlier. No amount of negative comments, even the entire world could ever convince me that Henri Matisse is not one of the most wonderful painters I've ever seen since I first became aware of his art in 1972 art school :-) And even now, I watch this RUclips video and find my appreciation for forms and color growing as I appreciate his work. He will always be one of my greatest art heroes.
J'adore l'oeuvre d'Henri Matisse!
Definitely one of my favorites, so so important to image making and still ahead of most of us.
Such a wild one. He's a fauvorite of mine and not for nothing. Superb and mesmerizing, thank you, thank you.
What a genius, how he read his sitters. Perfect background music for this wonderful exhibition, many thanks.
Admiro mucho su obra por el uso de los colores . Esa armonía que logra al usar a veces los amarillos en los rostros .
Oh my goddess! He was a genius! Amazing paintings and truely dazzling, vibrant colours.
Many thanks for this great video. I absolutely, enjoyed every second Watching it.
I agree that seeing the paintings in chronological order would be more valuable to seeing how Matisse evolved as an artist. The dates and locations of where he created the works would also be very useful.
His paper cut-outs and stained glass windows, created at the end of his life are filled with so much joy, in spite of his physical limitations.
He was always expanding his visions, and some paintings are just better than others.
I love his use of colors in his paintings and paper cut-outs.
Thank you for this video.
good idea, did you make that video?
Thank you for this. I understand Matisse much more, now.
I love him and thank you for these great his paintings.
This is the best collection.🤗

We are so lucky to have these great masters from the past, to enjoy and learn from them. Thank you for this video.
wow, such abundance of variations.
Another great Artist. Beautiful work. They always inspire me. Though my stuff is more closely described as doodling. This is magnificent. I get ideas by these Geniuses. My stuff is rudimentary. I love this Art. It’s fabulous.
I like paintings too much. Matisse is a great artist. Thank you very much. Sincerely.
A very pure artist briliant
He drew tits a lot
Thank you very much for this video, it is superb !
Not one of my favorites, but definitely a pioneer
Thank you so so so much ❤❤😊😊 !!
Yea he is a great Artist. I love this style.
I love the music. Fits best in every spot!
In a sense Picasso captured images whereas Matisse set images free. Thank you. Fantastic!!
Matisse es uno de mis pintores favoritos, especialmente esas pinturas que pasaron a manos de los coleccionistas y museos rusos. Los pude admirar en el Museo PIcasso de Barcelona. Gracias por el video!
He was the greatest of modern French painters.
Oh my God! Oh my God! Matisse I love you!
Amazing thank you for your works
This is great. He is a Master.
Me ha encantado. No conocía mucho sus obras. Un maestro, sin dudas
... ¡FAN-TÁS-TI-CO!...
... ¡812 imágenes valen más que 812.000 palabras!...
Henri MATISSE... ¡INMORTAL!.
Thank you for this! The paintings are absolutely beautiful.
Los ojos del alma se reclinan sobre cuerpos y paisajes en la maravillosa ensoñación del artista
I have never been moved by art until I discovered this
Never?

I dont inderstand how you people see these miserable scratches great !
Espectaculares estos videos.
Its like looking through Gods eyes at the World below.
When I took art history, he was best known for his dancing paintings and showing movement but I guess he did way more than just that.
5:39 I had this poster in college. Still one of my favorite of his work
Those blue and white collages are pretty .admirable yes but he goes way deeper!
no conocía mucha obra d el pero ahora q vi este vídeo es un súper genio .
Man invented photography and God asked the painters, Now what are you going to do ? I can't answer for MATISSE, but i'd say ,"there's seeing and then there's imagining" .
812 times I thank you-. Better than a walk through a European cathedral
If I paint like this in my art class, I will be screamed at by my art teacher.
I highly doubt it, I would hope they would encourage it.. What do they encourage if not individualism?
Magnífico Matisse
Großen Dank !!!!!!
Thank You.
Amazing thank you
Спасибо за показ 👏💐
very cool! I like it!
Henri Matisse is one of my favorite artist .Regeards JJ.Pokrak compmaturism
A very great artist
Gracias
Fabulous video. I love the order -- To put them chronologically would have made this more academic... instead of just looking at the piece. Very nicely done! Thank you!
S Marie Galski yes,but it is going to fast,I want to memorise his pantings and most of details
Best RUclipsr!! ^^
Lovely.
...impressed!
Grazie
It would be more interesting to see paintings in chronological order. That way you would see the progression of artist in his/her career. Of course it would require more time when making the video. Even order of early, middle, late periods of artists would be enought. And one more thing: Do not add zoom to the images!
In the case of Mattise, he doesn't really progress with the time.
@@Kasparoscar Dont know how you define progress but if you look paintings from certain period they look quite same. I think you do notice the change in style and matter if shown in chronological order.
@@xxxyyy1880 He degenerates over time. From his fauvism practices to the childish paintings.
@@Kasparoscar Yeah but "progress" in art is not same as in some other fields. Progress is more of change in style and matter even if it degenerates. But if you put works in chronological order you could easily see that what artist was thinking or what progress/degenerates has he obtained.
Negative comments don't understand Matisse as genius color mixer...his most famous disciple imo Richard Diebenkorn exemplifies Matisse's contribution to art as a formalist that established most of the precepts of modern abstract works.
Of course his technique can be criticized as malformed, ugly crooked noses and other disjointed anatomical affects...what you see is what you get, and most professional painters agree on his importance in the sweep of art history.
Then there are those who think that Bob Ross is great, with his Hallmark card renderings.
comparing bob ross to matisse....is a poor point..it is not about subjectivity...but rather does the quality of ones work..place him/her into the arena of great artists...a debate that would never include ross...
Pity you.
Спасибо.
he is very encouraging to us tyro's. if he can; i can..
brilliance

Pablo Burchard,a famous chilean painter was a fan of Matisse all his life¡¡¡Fauvisme¡¡¡
Yes I am still discovering what I can do with Art. Who knows if 100 years from now, someone thinks My doodling is Art. My stick figures could be famous.
I had a Matisse before in my kitchen ( that of a breakfast table set at an opened window). It perished in a fire which started in the kitchen.
Devastating 😫.
I could paint a similar painting for you.
Thank you for your hard work. It's amazing to have so many paintings in one video. If I may ask, how long did it take you and what software did you use?
🖤
Awesome Work. Trolls stay away.
Amazing. Good job. But, as a viewer, I can see in some of the portraits only half of the heads. Wouldn't it be better not using the zoom for some of this pictures?

many of his life paintings are along the lines of Gaugin
Never been crazy about Matisse. I think that might be something lacking in me though.
Thank you ,Iove Matisse and this is a wonderful collection; the music fits his
Style.
Don't worry, it's something lacking in them.
My feeling watching Matisse art is incompleteness
As he did not finish his work, although colors overloaded .
@@margaritaresta6390, it is an art movement called Fauvism. Not overloaded, it is just bright colored and.vivid in places your brain is not used too.

Not that it’s a competition but I still prefer Pablo over Henri.
very nice! But i would prefer 50 to Focus on, than more than 800 ! That is simply to much!
I like to watch this is small parts and pause often.
Imagine making that many!
Is there bad art or only popular art?

Me he preguntado muchas veces si el sr.
Saludos.
Gracias por la compilacion.
He's not very good at painting humans ,but that is best job for a camera,if I was given a paint brush this is the way I would paint.but i not like his human poses they look stiff ,trees in different colours is Brill.
"That's best job for a camera" justifying the lack of talent.
@@Kasparoscar talent to depict reality? Matisse would've laughed at your rudimentary opinion on what art is and should become. Modern sensibilities and appreciation changed at the turn of the 20th century, along with it a sense of beauty and representation
@@apes4days254 Sorry, I don’t speak mediocrity.
@@Kasparoscar ironic since your ideal world representation is just a simple sense perception representation. Very limiting and ignorant to metaphysics and forms within themselves. You seem very ignorant to how we think about empiricism and perceive reality. You can't seem to reason past the fact that sense representation isn't the only form of expression and knowledge. Deeper and innate expression has a right to exist too. Also, your judgement of what is beautiful and what isn't is all based on dogmatic ideals from forms of ideology like faith, morality and so on that have been cast aside by modern artists because of their foundation in arbitrary logic. You don't have a clue why you even deteste modern art because to you talent is the only reason to make art, that reasoning alone is contradictory to art itself.
@@apes4days254 What did you not understand, kid. I do not speak mediocrity. Go bluff about contemporary art with your also criteria lacking pals.
