Really well shot and edited David 👏. And the great choice of music enhanced the feeling of remoteness in this wild area. A good mountaineering decision to cut it short. Look forward to the next one. ATB
Hi Ian, Thanks for your kind comments. We try always not to ever let the filming take over either our enjoyment or the keeping safe aspect. Thanks again. 😁🤙
Thanks Dave.. I’ve loads of your films to catch up on. Last time I looked your channel was doing really well. Good effort buddy! It’s actually nice to miss someone, reminds you of what’s important so long as it’s only to miss them temporarily! Hope you’re okay mate! Dave 😊🙏
Hi Mike.. it doesn’t matter what the weather does.. it’s just a lovely area. Getting back wasn’t much of an issue in the end as I know the route well. I thought it best to concentrate anyway. Thanks for watching and taking the time to say hello. 😊🙏
I used to like going away alone… I think this was the very first time I missed having my adventure buddy. On the flip side though I probably needed to be alone at that moment in my life to realise it! I think it’s a good thing to go alone from time to time! Ooooft that’s confusing! 😂🫡🙏🤗
@On the Adventure Trails - Scotland Not at all. It's lovely to share moments with a loved one. I think it was more the landscape that felt melancholic. It, too, has its moods. I'm a solitary walker/camper. I'm quite used to it now. I never feel really alone, although I must admit it would be nice to have a friend or family member tag along. None of them keen sadly. They prefer hotels! 😆
I used to walk the Highlands with my partner but since our separation, I walk on my own , never quite the same when you can't share the amazing views Scotland has to offer . That's why i like your videos so much , you go to a lot of places I've been and i feel i relive them with yourselves as company 😊
You caught that perfectly….no matter what is going on in the world that area does not give one jot and will be wilderness business as usual….glad you hoofed out safely.
Dave, I went that way a few weeks ago. Never ceases to amaze me how few other people go on past Bynack More in this direction. A couple of years ago we went past the shelter and across the Fords of Avon which were running fast and deep. We needed to get to one of the Munros over the other side so we got very wet going and coming back! Nice drone shots as always. Must get myself one of those.😀
Hi Kevin, Yeah the crossing looks sporty in spate. I seen a couple of polish guys hiking through but that was it. Total solitude! Thanks as always for watching and say hi! 😊🙏
Thanks very much for your message Kevin. Yeah it can take a wee bit of extra work at times but not complaining as it’s nice to look back in some our trips. The grandson also likes watching them. 😊🤙
That's not a bothy, or if it is, it's one of the most luxurious and well equipped bothies I've ever seen. Certainly not the kind I've ever stayed in. 😂😂😂 Looks fantastic though. Thanks for sharing.. It's been too long since your last video.
Brilliant David, Like you said, typical Cairngorms weather 😁 I just finished reading Cairngorm John so this video was ideally timed to show me some of the placed mentioned in the book. Beautifully filmed as always. Cheers! Kris.
One of my favourite areas. Walked the 2 Lairigs in July 2019 & stayed in the refuge on a beautiful clear night. Love the walking up there on the hills & in the forests. Loved the video - makes me itch to get back there soon.
Big walk in to the Fords of Avon! It is a fantastic location and very remote. It’s a pity that the weather deteriorated and you were unable to capture the loneliness of Loch Avon and the Shelter Stone. Excellent video!
Hi Graham, Thanks for watching. Yeah it’s a long route in which was nice. Been to Loch Avon many times and also stayed in a wee shelter near the shelter stone, think there’s a video from a couple of years back. Loved that one too. Thanks for watching mate.😊🙏
Great video mate it's the first video of yours I've watched. You come up as suggested on Instagram then I found your you tube. I've always wanted to visit the Cairngorms shame about the weather the next day it gets like that on Dartmoor a lot😁👍
I was near here a couple of weeks ago over Bynack More and A'Choinneach. The Saddle is definitely the wiser option to get back or to even go back around Bynack More. The one good thing is that you can see the weather coming in from where you were. Not that it helps much with the speed that it changes. Wish I'd stayed at the refuge.
Hi Leigh, thanks for watching. Yeah I ended up going the saddle. I knew the weather was going to come in that second day but the whole trip was worth it irrespective of the weather. 😊🤙
First of all thanks for sharing this fantastic hike.🙏🏼 You made a really great video. We are coming to the cairngorms in a few weeks and would very much like to see this area. Can we get a gpx file of this hike somehow? Is it on Komoot or WikiLoc? Thea would be awesome! Or maybe some extended directions? Any help is more then welcome! Thanks in advance and do know that your video helped us a lot on deciding to visit the cairngorms ♥️
Thank you so much for your message. I don’t have a gpx file but have a look at these links. 😁👍 www.walkhighlands.co.uk/cairngorms/creag-mhor.shtml (from the 12 mile mark on the map go up to Cairngorm instead of the Glen) cairngormwanderer.wordpress.com/refuges-and-howffs/fords-of-avon-refuge/
Wonderful wee film, thanks for doing it. Never fancied staying in that wee bothy. Had a look in once after staying at Faindouran. Watching your films is almost like being there but without the sair legs the next day. Cheers.
Hi Steve, Thank you so much. On another note. You’ll probably not believe this but.. where I am working has a ban on Twitter! I’ve got your email notification but can’t replay until I get home. 😊🤙
Cheers for watching buddy! 🍻 Don’t want to sound like a dick but it’s an easy one to find on the OS map. The bothy police will be after me as it is! 😂🙏

What a beautiful capture! The overhead views truly put the grandness of it all into perspective. Thank you!
Hey Kyrie, Thanks very much for your message. It’s quite some place eh! Take care.

Another beautifully shot video Dave. 👌Captured the Gorms in all it's glory. Nice wee shelter that. I must return one day for a night in it.
