fun fact: an ostrich egg is the smallest egg compared to the bird that lays it
@Magnus Svane someone’s asking for a source
@@maxitaxi6484
Ostrich eggs are the largest of all eggs, though they are actually the smallest eggs relative to the size of the adult bird - on average they are 15 cm (5.9 in) long, 13 cm (5.1 in) wide, and weigh 1.4 kilograms (3.1 lb), over 20 times the weight of a chicken's egg and only 1 to 4% the size of the female.

I only say this because I consider Ann to be a great knowledgeable resource for true information - snakes do lay unfertilized eggs and it's not an uncommon occurrence. Is it as often as chickens? No, but I would attribute that to how often chickens lay eggs. Chickens can lay eggs everyday. Snakes (very, very generally) will have 1-2 clutches a year of anywhere from just a few to a couple dozen.
Female snakes who ovulate and who will bear eggs (some snakes give live birth and there's a third option, too) will lay those eggs whether or not they encounter a male to fertilize them - they are not induced ovulators (like cats - female cats will only ovulate once a male has caused the sexual response to trigger).
Snake eggs that are not fertilized are called "slugs" ...I don't know why. They are generally more beige in color, slightly oblong shaped and have a different texture. Sometimes a snake will have an entire clutch of slugs (called "slugging out"), and other times they may have a couple slugs or obviously they could have no slugs at all.
And, while not directly related to this, I can't help but mention - there are snakes who will lay eggs that were not fertilized by a male, and yet they will still produce a snake! It's called parthenogenisis (very simply, the snake creates clones of themselves 🤓).
In the words of Clint Laidlaw - now you know :)
Literally any bird: lays eggs
Humans: *food*

I used to have to go and collect the Ostrich eggs when I worked at the local zoo. They so much heavier than they look. Solid effort getting halfway through it. It took 6 adult zoo keepers to get through a scrambled ostrich egg.
Also, if you're ever for some reason in an enclosure with Ostriches, don't have anything in your pockets and triple knot your shoe laces, they'll straight up rob you and laces are their favourite things to play with (not fun when you're 6 foot up a ladder feeding giraffes and half a dozen Ostriches are pecking at your feet 🤣)

"Crack the ostrich egg..."
Nooooo.... make a small opening at the top. Save the egg shell.
Glad I wasn't the only one who experienced the "save it" instinct!
and what about the yolk? a small opening would not fit the yolk
@@starfr1ght If you want to save an ostrich or emu eggshell (highly recommend), here's what you do:
Make 2 small holes near each end of the egg. (Not sure if there's a better way.) Make one hole slightly larger. Then put your mouth to the smaller hole and blow.
When the egg comes out, the yolk will break and it will be ready to make scrambled eggs. Meanwhile, you can carefully pose your eggshell so it doesn't look like it has any holes in it.
Ann wanted to be able to compare the yolk sizes, so it makes sense she didn't do this, but that's how I've seen it done.

A house cat is less likely to kill you, yes. It will definitely will eat you though - if you die at home and no one finds your dead body for a while.
@Sean Bennington You're scaling it wrong. Weight scales with the cube, so with 1/12th the size, you'd have (1/12)^3=1/1728th the mass. With a normal weight of 250 pounds, a scaled-down tiger would weigh about 2.3 ounces or 65 grams. This would make it one-half the size of the world's smallest cat species, but weighing significantly less due to less robust bodily proportions.
@@Elora445 well, I wouldn't want Princess to starve.
House Hippo is the obvious answer. No, I don't mean a 1/12th size hippo, I mean a 1/12th size house hippo. Super tiny house hippo!

This is enchanting.
Our queen Ann works so hard for that content! 👑 we love to see it! 👏
Can we appreciate the fact that the brother still gave money to his brother even though it was 5 bucks. I mean my siblings would never do that, if I don't finish that egg😢😂
I know right?
My siblings 2ouldnt even give me money if i finished the egg...
I don't understand Australian betting. If he doesnt finish the egg, doesnt that mean he owes his brother 10 bucks instead?
@@Shaunks86 He finished half of it so he gets $5. Normally he would owe his brother $10 but since it was such an impossible feat, he got $5.
What you don't see is the interest accruing on that $5 debt from the $10 dollar bill. It's all a scheme to bankrupt his brother because he couldn't finish the egg
I THOUGHT THE BOYS WERE LIKE 6 YEARS OLDDDDDDD I NEVER EXPECTED TO SEE SOME HANDSOME TEENAGE BOYS BRUHHH

Hey Ann,
I'm a recent fan and I just wanted to let you know you've become my happy place. You probably won't see this message, because I'm not sure how that could be even possible on an old video under more than 10k comments, but your videos are my happy place. I've had a really, really bad day and all I've done for the past couple of hours is watch your videos because it is just so calming. Also, my baking has improved from all your tips, and while I was never bad and have always had compliments, your videos have instilled a sense of confidence in me that I never used to have.
I hope you and your family are well. Thank you for making amazing, trustworthy, intelligent, entertaining content.
