He had his highly paid attorney. But he was dumb. At one point , must have thought it was smart to say, "I don't care where the boys stay, I want custody". His lawyer knew exactly where the case was going and looked as he wanted to boot him across the room, the lady leading this discussion rolled her eyes and I knew that I had gotten as much as I could without a lawyer. Custody was split down the middle and that was the end of that.
My ex sister in law is just like this woman. I nursed my brother in law until his death and the first thing his ex wife did was drag me into court for alimony!!! We weren’t married! And I jokingly said "Well, I'm accustomed to several nights of sex so in place of that, I believe it only fair to drop things down to a half dozen knobbers every two weeks." She was so mad at me up to that point, she just closed her eyes and eventually burst out laughing. She knew how much I disliked that accustomed to BS.
One must remember the difference between wants and needs. It's not wrong for a woman to want hair and nail done however in raising children, it can be done on a budget.

While I knew this is a show, I assumed, like Judge Judy, the cases were real and the persons real. I recently discovered not only are the cases made up, but the defendants/plaintiffs are actors. It's sad. I always respected the judge for her fairness and directness.
