  • This is my first chance welding with the ARCCAPTAIN TIG 200P...once again impressed by ARCCAPTAIN'S ability to pack big machine performance into such a small unit at a great price.

    I use a totally poor-azz Hitbox flux core all day every day welding. Wouldn't know what to do with a tig if you hit me with it. If the Hitbox flux core ever dies,I'm buying another or we'd starve. It earns us ALL our money.

    I have to say many times hanging off the car lift upside down buy my safety harness welding up a chrome molly 25.5 prostock style roll cage there are so many positions you can't use the peddle tbt it is the only time I actually use the button mine is a qd with a pig tail harness with that being said I wish I could use peddle while upside-down or inside out much better control

    Nice job on the videos! Even without doing real work, you did a great job on these small plates! Hope it will be useful for your future TIG work.

    Nice review! Your work is very similar to mine in that I almost never need to TIG. As a result, I’ve owned a TIG machine since 2015 and still don’t know how to use it. I do okay on carbon and stainless steel but aluminum baffles me. I often MIG weld aluminum though. Seems I never have time to sit down and get aluminum TIG figured out which is frustrating when the rare job comes around where TIG would be the best process.

    I see nothing but good things about these machines. I'm anxious to see a review after a year or so of regular use to see how they're holding up. They have great features, I'm just curious about longevity.

    Haha yea I’ve got the tig 200 base model, it’s not ac/ dc machine just dc I’m assuming, and just like you, me messing with tig welding wouldn’t last long and I wud jump over to stick welding too lol. That was the first machine I got my buddy gave me. Then I ordered the mig 200, which I love. And just today I finally gots me a plasma cutter and of course I went ahead and got the cut 50 ARCCAPTAIN and thus far I’m a big fan

    I think they must of changed the cord situation, when I got my mig200 the cord was 220 and had a lil whip to use 120 , so they do listen to ppls reviews

    I grind the back of that TIG cap off and then I can slide new tungsten in through the back and length doesn’t matter as long as you don’t bump the back side when it’s long.

      I just posted a response to you on another thread showing you my latest project I did last night, check that one out it’s me using the flux core 120volt machine which I haven’t really even used in a long time but it was at the shop and I know that things strong if she’s turned up good and biting into the metal right so I gave her a whirl and seemed to do ok. I put like 3 beads on top of each other grinding them out some in between each pass, and then a double stringer bead like just around the edges and it came out ok I guess. Compared to the booger nationals I was at last year when I got it and first tried welding I’m doing a ton better I think. But let me know your thoughts

      @arccaptain-weld can you adjust the AC frequency on the 200p?

    • @NBSWELDING
      @NBSWELDING  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yes

    • @arccaptain-weld
      @arccaptain-weld 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@ajallison90 Certainly, to adjust the AC frequency on the 200p, you can access the AC Frequency mode by repeatedly pressing the knob on the right side. AC frequency which means how many times per second the polarity will change. I f you are welding thin material you should have higher AC frequency somewhere between 150 and 250 HZ this gives you more accurate welding Arc and you can have faster travel speed if you are welding thicker materials you should use lower AC frequency somewhere from 80 to 120 HZ

    CB, Your ArcCaptain Mig 200 review was more "hands on".....but this was a good intro to the Tig 200. I purchased a Mig 200 because of your review.
    A few random comments:
    I realize that this is a "test" of the equipment you were sent; but it'll improve your welding to use a stubby gas lense (moreso on steel/stainless, but also on AL).
    I wouldn't want that switch on the torch all the time (& I assume that it's (On/Off, rather than amperage controlling.....but one of my most common Tig uses for AL, is welding on flat bottom river boats; in some *very* awkward positions occasionally, in which a foot pedal isn't handy. An amperage controlling button would be ideal.

    • @NBSWELDING
      @NBSWELDING  10 месяцев назад

      I have a Tigbutton on my Primeweld that is amperage controlling and it would work well for the work your doing in odd positions...unfortunately I don't think that a Tigbutton is currently being offered to work with the ARCCAPTAIN

    I’d love to see you try to butt weld some thin .040 or .050 3003 H14 sheet aluminum. I can get my ArcCaptain 200p to weld everything except butt welding very thin sheet aluminum.
    I just have not been able to get the settings right to keep from blowing through the 050 I’m trying to weld.
    The closest setting I used on 050 aluminum butt welds that seems to be best is 50a, pulsing from 20a, 1.00hv, pulse time 30%, 150 AChz, 35% balance, triangular wave, 1/16 tungsten.

    • @samuelsnyder5169
      @samuelsnyder5169 10 месяцев назад +1

      Try a 1.5% lanthanated tungsten, sharpen it around 60 degrees. Set the machine in a 75% 90hz 160amp wide open and a 20amp start up and use the pedal. A back purge greatly improves your success rate

    • @ChadDrake4185
      @ChadDrake4185 10 месяцев назад

      @@samuelsnyder5169thank you for the info. I’ll give those settings a try. 160amp is definitely something I haven’t tried yet with that thin aluminum.
      So you recommend foot pedal with no pulse, correct?
      The 75% you mentioned… you’re referring to the AC balance, right?

    First off, good health, prosperity and long life to you and yours. Whatever works for maintaining your health and fitness; go for it. As for the tig and stick welding demo, thanks for being straight up as to your skill set at present. The welding trade is as diverse as the colors of light emulating from a prisim. Each shop and weldor is proficient in the methods used most often. Enjoyed this video for it's content. I appreciate you taking your valuable time and resources to put together this very informative video. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍
