Surprising Solution to Waterproof Exterior Walls From the Inside [Complete Guide]

- There's a reason why waterproofing paint can't be applied on the negative side of an exterior wall or firewall. There are many factors when waterproofing exterior walls, and using a waterproofing paint or flat latex goes against all of them.
First, you have to consider that walls experience movements and vibrations. So, using a rigid-type waterproofing membrane is not an option. Second, the pressure coming from the outside is a difficult problem to deal with. Therefore, waterproofing paint is not suitable for such applications because it can easily suffer from blistering when the pressure pushes the paint, causing it to peel off after some time.
So, it begs the question: If you can't use waterproofing paint and rigid-type waterproofing on the negative side of your wall, is there any effective alternative out there?
How to waterproof your wall if you can't waterproof it from the outside?
Maybe you can't waterproof your exterior walls because:
1. There are obstructions outside that can't be cleared out
2. The wall is next to another wall or house
3. The wall is too high, requiring special equipment

hi! can this process also be applied to the ceiling? i had our "kisame" removed already due to water stains and molds. i need a practical and most importantly, budgetf riendly solution before the re-ceiling work. definitely waterproofing from the outside (roof deck/roof) is out due to budget limitations. would appreciate your prompt reply. thank you!

Hi. Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, you have to remove the existing paint prior to the application of skim coat. Skim coat must be applied on bare concrete substrate. It will loose its adhesion strength and will cause powdering if applied to primed or coated wall.
Sir napaka-detalyado po ng vlog nyo. It seems very knowledgeable kayo pagdating sa construction issues. Sir pahingi lang po sana ng advice. May moist po kasi at kunting hairline cracks na may tumutulo ng tubig ang 1st and 2nd flr namin. Both above ground structures kasi wala naman kaming basement. Tinanggal na po namin ang paint.using grinder, then liha, at pinunasan namin ng basang basahan para malinisan. Pero ano po ang best na gamitin namin between crystor o flexor?

However, if there is no access on the exterio wall, you can use Flexor for above ground or higher level wall. You just have to repair the cracks first prior to the application of Flexor.

You can apply paint directly on Flexor. However, it is semi-rough finish.

If the wall is concrete and well cured,It has a better characteristic of repelling the entry of water because of its form,solid,while if its chb, more spacious in its form and very susceptible to hold /absorb water though paint/waterproofing is applied. Any application is useful but perhaps in a limited time only,maximum of 3 to 5 yrs. Our weather affect it most. The hot temperature and the rain can change the waterproofing effectiveness. It has also its wear and tear,I believed! If your structure is saturated due to continuous rain, that will cause the pressure to push the waterproofing/paint applied. Hot season could cause cracks (temperature at the start) and movements can make it bigger ,the reason why suddenly there was a bulging on the applied paints. So, application should be part of the preventive maintenance. My observation only!

For a newly plastered wall, let the concrete cure for at least 28 days before applying both waterproofing materials.Sapal 2 in 1 has greater coverage than Sapal RTU due to the fact that Sapal 2 in 1 must first be diluted in water.
Hello po! Salamat sa videos niyo! Sana nakita ko agad itong channel niyo nung nagrennovate kami ng bahay early this year. Dami kasing tagas ng ulan sa pader at nagppulbos ang skim coat laki ng problema! Itry po namin yung flexor sa sinip ng tubig or crystor siguro kasi malakas tulo walang gutter yung dikit na bahay sa amin dumederecho sa pader namin yung tubig sa bubong nila. Tanong lang po pala anu po pwedeng gamitin pang water proof ng fish pond or cistern tank na nakabaon halfway sa ground. Crystot po ba pwede kasi yun yung ginagamit sa cistern tank?

Once mayroon nang waterproofing sa positive side, no need maglagay ng waterproofing sa negative side as long as okay po ang ginamit nyong product for the exterior, surface prepation, and application. However, pwede rin naman na mag apply pa rin sa interior for double protection.

Since termites may come from the bottom or from the soil, they could have access to your concrete walls through wall cracks, holes, or if there are spaces between the floor slab and the inside surface of the wall. So if the inside is wall is already painted, Flexor cannot be applied without removing the paint first?

Using neutralizer can weaken the concrete. Concrete neutralizer is made of acid that can be absorbed by concrete and can cause corrosion on the reinforcement which could lead to cracking, spalling and degradation of concrete.

Hi, thank you for your inquiry. You have to remove the existing skim coat before applying Crystorcrystallin capillary waterproofing. Crystallization will not take effect on skim coated/painted walls.

Yung effectivity at performance po ng waterproofing is nakadepende sa substrate. Kung hindi maayos yung substrate possible mag leak lang po ulit.
