  • In this video, we show you how to install the stage 1 lift kit from ICON. Taking the OEM suspension out and installing the new. Also the height difference you gain with the ICON stage 1 vs OEM. For a more level ride height I would suggest getting the coilover wrench from ICON so that you can lift the front a bit more than how it comes out of the box. Overall an easy install and rides nicely. As always, after any suspension modification, you should get an alignment. Thanks for watching! Link for lift kit is below.

    Great job, one of the better install videos I’ve seen. Keep up the great work 👍

    I currently run this kit on my 5th Gen TRD OR. The ride is more firm than factory but not stiff, even with the front adjusted close to max height/pre-load. I went with bilstein 1.5 -2” rear lift coils instead of the 2” icon. A slightly shorter spring which gave me near exactly 2” of lift in the rear, opposed to the 2 1/4” that the icon 52700 2” lift spring gives as mentioned in the video. Overall, happy with the ride height however if I were to do it again, I would spend a little more money on a higher end setup, something like kings with remote reservoirs, or even the Icon Stage 2. This is a great entry level setup, but if you’re anything like me and are getting into overlanding/off-roading you may outgrow this setup rather quickly. And reselling used suspension components isn’t easy. Cheers!

      Good feedback! But I'm sure this kit wont be on for too long. Not because its a bad set up but because we are constantly trying new products that we offer on our website. The icon stage 1 kit is definitely a great entry level kit if you want a adjustable coilover.

    Nice simplified video. Not to nitpick, but I'm skeptical you'll get it aligned without new upper control arms. Also, you need to extend your rear bump-stops, add longer rear end links, and fix that track bar (panhard ) angle with an extended bracket. Lifting a vehicle is a slippery slope...

    Still doing a lot of research here - thanks so much for the vid. This install doesn't look too hard and you explained it super well without unnecessary information.
    Are the sway bar spacers effectively a front differential drop? Also, do the front coilovers rub on the factory UCA's?

    • @yotaxpedition
      @yotaxpedition  Год назад

      No rubbing on the UCA's. The sway bar spacers are different than a diff drop. The sway bar spacers are to relocate the sway bar forward a tiny bit to avoid hitting the new coilovers.

    Great install vid. I have a 21 4runner off road w/kdss. Is there a trackbar needed to complete the install? Looking at an icon stage 4 kit, and just buying a separate trackbar to avoid hitting the higher priced stage 6-8 kits w/trackbars included.
    cheers

      ** stage 3. and ahhh yes, jumped the gun without reading the comment replies. Saw the rear trackbar 54200 needed, and no spacers up front. 🤘

    Would I need a differential drop kit for the front and a new track bar correction panhard kit to return the track bar to its original horizontal design for the rear?
    Would be recommended to add new upper control arms that work better with a lift kit? I'm thinking about buying the Icon stave 1 but want to make sure that I won't run to any issues down the road.

    • @yotaxpedition
      @yotaxpedition  4 месяца назад

      Diff drop isn't necessarily needed. Track bar correction and upper control arms are always good to add after a lift kit to just help with alignment and ride quality.

    I’m installing the same icon lift kit and also ordered the trd skid plate from yoda xpedition but the pre installed front bolts on skid plate are too short with the added spacers on mounting brackets!! What do I do?

    • @yotaxpedition
      @yotaxpedition  Год назад

      Hey Seamus, we had to add spacers to our TRD skid plate on the 2 front holes and get longer bolts. The bolts we used were m10x1.25 60mm long.

    Work with kdss? Also is there a need for diff drop kit? Or high angle cv boots?

    • @yotaxpedition
      @yotaxpedition  Год назад

      This kit does work with KDSS. Just don't install the sway bar spacers that come with it (those are for non KDSS). You will be fine with out a diff drop. The CV boots would be a better route

    • @yotaxpedition
      @yotaxpedition  10 месяцев назад +1

      We have no experience with the RC Vertex kit, though they look nice. The ICON kit we've had on our 4Runner now for probably 8-10 months and we have no complaints. Went on a few offroading and camping trips and it performed well and also rides nice on the road.

    • @yotaxpedition
      @yotaxpedition  Год назад

      Correct, but the Icon kit in this video will work with kdss models but there is a few other steps to the install. Do not install the front sway bar relocation brackets and you need the 54200 track bar as well.

      The total cost for the kit is going to run around $2000. But we currently have this kit at 15% off for black Friday. Quality is good, and installation isn't bad. I personally would also get the coilover wrench to go with it to make the front level with the rear.
