Fitz and his animal companion will always be my favourite characters as that’s where my Robin Hobb journey began so he’ll always hold a very special place in my heart. Her characters are amazing, one of the best writers of characters imo, absolutely brilliant author.
Yes, 100% agree! Hobb is the absolute Queen of character writing.
I ADORE Robin Hobb. These series are amazing. The Fool is such an incredible character
This was a great introduction video. Next time I try to convince someone to read Robin Hobb I'll sent them here instead of rambling incoherantly at them!
Genuinely love how you love books. This is more a view on what you're doing here overall but so few critics/reviewers are willing to meet a book for what it is without their own ego in the way. I do love Robin Hobb but don't like Fourth Wing but the fact that you can give both a fair shake really says a lot about your quality as a reviewer/critic.
I love your energy! You’ve made me so excited to read this series. As someone from NZ, I was so happy to hear you’re from Aus
Hello from across the ditch! I love NZ! Had my honeymoon there and did a big trip seeing LOTR locations. 🥰
So glad you want to try Robin Hobb. She truly is queen of fantasy. Enjoy!
A fellow Kiwi! Rare in the booktube community ❤❤
I’ve found my new favourite channel.
Robin Hobb, our most beloved queen ! Been watching a few of your other vidéos and thank you for your open mindness and respect ! (It's good to see a male fantasy reader that is not bashing romantasy for the sake of it and gives an actual thoughtfull and constructiv pro/cons arguments!) Anyway, keep the good work and cheers from France!
In the spirit of complete transparency, I watched this to judge you. Not in a bad way, but to see how our tastes match up for your other reviews. Thank the magics, now I know I can safely take your suggestions to the book store!! ❤
Am now reading The Assassin's Apprentice on your recommendation. Thank you, it's fab!
Great Video! I recently bought Ship of Magic and was so excited to read it. Then I looked up the reading order and most people recommended to read the first Fitz Trilogy beforehand. I didn't really want to do that, because a lot of people online are complaining, saying how annoying Fitz is... Now I know, that it's okay to start with the Liveship Traders and honestly, I'm really intruiged by the rest of the books. Thank you so much, I'll give it a try, soon.
this video i think convinced me to start reading this series im really excited for it now LOL, the problem tho is aaaa im discovering TOO many series through ur channel and i dont have enough time to read all of em also nice shirt :D
This is exactly what I needed! I'm going to dive into this series as soon as I finish my current book.
Keep up the hard work 💜
Like Robin Hobb books!! Keep on going with RUclips video and reading!! 📚📖
This is the most incredible intro, I was enticed by Petrik but this was such a nice and just as digestible summary! I’ve started royal assassin after book 1 had me sobbing 😢 so I hope it continues to wreck me as I go on! With cautious optimism I purchased the the live ship trader trilogy so I’m hoping that wreck me too, thank you for the tw warning as well💚 I’ve directed my friend to your dis world video as he’s started the series recently!
Great summary. Definitely intrigued. Way to preach no pressure. Not every series is for everyone.
Thanks for laying this out! I’ve definitely been thinking of getting into Robin Hobb but find it intimidating 😅
Hands down best intro on booktube!
ok you've tempted me, still not sure if I'm going to read it yet but I'm tempted.
Mike, you must be the nicest guy on RUclips. I really enjoyed this. Though I guess Robin Hobb writes other books because I read an entirely different one about a magician's apperntice?
These books are some of my favourites! A massive inspiration in the dnd games I run for sure!
There is also a comic adapation releasing at the moment of the Asssasin trilogy!
I hardly see people talking about this amazing series!
Great video! Especially all the sections, funny too. Been meaning to start this for years but held back by the constant reference to ‘emotional ripping’. Just need to try and see 😊
(Cool T-shirt too 😉)
I love your enthusiasm man! Keep it up!!
I genuinely think the sound is better when you don't use the clip on microphone. Just my thoughts.
Also a great introduction to a series I have heard of but don't know anything about
I started with Liveship Traders trilogy. Then Assassins (Fitz) trilogy. Just finished Tawny Man trilogy. Just wonderful books! Wondering where to go next?
Your enthusiasm for this series is contagious. I’m gonna give it a try.
You are such a joy to watch! Keep up the great work 👍🏽
Love your content man! I do find that your audio is a bit too quite on some of your videos. Not sure if you could turn that up a little in editing but nonetheless great video!
I grabbed the first book last week, and I'm even more excited to start this adventure now.😊
Congrats man. I really like your videos, very refreshing in the booktube scene. Hobb is my TBR for soon, and this video only enlarged my appetite for it 😉
Okay I’m going. To start the series. You convinced me. It’s been on my TBR but now I know the order to read lol
I loved Assassin's Apprentice so if that's the weakest in the series I'm excited for the rest. The book almost made me cry for certain animal companions. Hobb can be so mean to her characters.
Your intro gives me life lol! Love it
The introduction 👌
sold
gonna be my next dive after I finish Malazan
Iv'e been reading them in order and am currently on the first book of the LAST trilogy and after all those books i had no idea what a worriers tail looked like!🤣😅 i thought it was a plait...
You hooked me with the character descriptions, so I gave book one a try… I’ve now committed 27 hours of my life to finishing book 2 of the Farseer trilogy and I have been left DESTROYED. It was so, so good, and it hurt so, so bad. Emotional damage to the extreme with that ending, oml. You were right with the loathing I feel toward the villain character; words cannot describe my disgust. Now that’s some great character writing^^
I’m with you in adoring Robin Hobb’s creative genius. I just finished the second trilogy Liveship and can’t wait to now get back to Fitz next. I have been reading out of order but I do take notes at end of each so I don’t forget. Also I do audio along with print as well for full immersion. Hobb works so well for me because I such a character driven reader…same reason I love Charles Dickens soooo much too.
Yes I absolutely love Robin Hobb. Thanks for sharing your thoughts 👍✌️🙏✨
Thank you so much, loved this. Currently on book 6 ship of destiny. Can't wait to meet Fitz again on Fools Errand. Oliver from the UK Staffordshire ❤️
Love the energy and content from you! Subscribed 👍
If anything to improve, it would probably be a better audio but enjoyed it regardless :)
I'm almost finished Liveship Traders, the hype is real!
Robin Hobb ❤❤❤ so underrated to this day.
Thank you for this The Book Guy! Wow, I love videos like this. Spoiler-Free Introductions.
Also, I'm really excited to read Robin Hobb - I'm currently reading The Way of Eden by Philip Chase, then starting Assassin's Apprentice!
also SUBSCRIBED WOW! Love this!
"It's a very good book" I died😂😂
The books are long but soooo worth it!
I'll be picking up Liveship Traders as soon as I'm finished my current reads. I would've gotten to it sooner but l didn't love Assassin's Quest.
Awesome video are doing any other genre
It’s not about violence so much but secrets, betrayal, lies intrigue and found families
Would you recommend the physical or audio version of these?
That's an amazing question! Now I wish I'd mentioned that in the video.
Personally, I recommend the audio version. Out of the 16 books, I read 5 physical copies and listened to 11 by audio. It's a series that just fits audio really well.
One little warning, the series changes narrators a LOT! Sometimes even changing narrators within the same trilogy. That means they change what voices they do for different characters. A 'gruff voice' character will suddenly sound more normal. It was a little hard to keep track of.
