Anthony and Tara teach you how to make a very exciting exothermic reaction with hydrogen peroxide. It will also keep your pet elephant's teeth clean.
Experiment Tips:
-Experiment's reaction produces heat, be careful not to touch until it has a chance to cool.
-30% hydrogen peroxide can bleach/burn so be sure to avoid contact with skin and clothing.
-Swirling the chemicals together after combining gave a faster and stronger reaction.
Relight a Match
chemistry.about.com/od/chemist...
A small flint or ember from a dying match placed above the bubbles will re-ignite the match due to the oxygen being released.
All Living things Contain Peroxides
looseinthelabscience.com/downl...
Hydrogen peroxide is naturally produced in organisms as a by-product of oxidative metabolism. Nearly all living things possess enzymes known as peroxidases, which harmlessly and catalytically decompose low concentrations of hydrogen peroxide to water and oxygen.
Exothermic Reaction
reekoscience.com/Experiments/E...
The bottle will feel warm to the touch due to the exothermic reaction. Exo meaning exiting or leaving and thermic having to do with measuring temperature or heat. . So, an exothermic reaction is a chemical reaction where the heat stored in the chemical bonds is released and goes into the environment.

the 2 people on the internet that i love the most
are anthony carboni and tara long
Wow! I just noticed that in the video description it gives you more interesting scientific facts on the subject!
and an hour later the cops showed up on a report that there were people cooking meth in the back yard.......
Thank you Shots of Awe for bringing me to this awesome channel!
Make thermite, but be sure to remove the molten iron afterwards for added effect.
"When i was a kid...." who are you kidding Anthony, admit it, you are still a kid :D
Very cool! You should try the electric pickle (passing AC current through a pickle). Even better if you can do something artistic with the pickles.
Mix dry ice with a variety of different Chemicals or ingredients to see the reaction! Please I love watching your videos! ;)
Where did you buy the 30 percent hydrogen peroxide and the potassium?
My chemistry teacher did this experiment for us last year and it was pretty much mind blowing.
Ronnie mcnutt
In this chemistry experiment, what is the "constant" and the "control"?
where did you buy the 30% hydrogen peroxide and the potassium iodide
For the bigger effect how of everything would I need
It would be great if u put the ingredients what's the pedaseom were can i get it
Where do you even get that percentage hydrogen peroxide
Jetpack! do it!
This was very well filmed!
Yeah, this is one of the best produced RUclips shows I've ever seen.
what if you put a cap on? could you make it explode?
I think you guys need to do more stuff with dry ice!!! :)
Coloured flames! I've done that once in science, it was amazing with the bigger fires!
(I'm french and) I think you deserve more viewers !
How much amount of each one?
Well, actually, "heat stored in the chemical bonds" is kindof wrong.
*Energy* is stored there. That energy is released as heat when you dare to add the catalyst.
Where can u buy potassium iodide
Also same challenge for you to make a carbonated swimming pool it seems relaxing or really fun
How much sodium iodide do you use tho???
Huge last experiment was epic!!!!!! Good experience!:)
That was cool I love science and you guys make it that much more fun
Make a levitating skateboard?
magnetic levitation dude??I can very well make it?Want to know how ? inbox me!
How much of everything do you need!?
this was great, I'm definitely going to try for dinosaur toothpaste
I know they probably said it, but is it safe to use
Awesome video, I love this channel!
I started watching you guys and I love you!!!!!!! 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Can someone please put the ingredient list + the amount of each for this experiment?
jhyih
Awesome!
How much does it cost to get those things? Is it bad for the grass if the chemical touches them?
Is there any experiments related to music? That would be interesting to watch!
3:13 poor assistant tried to clean him up before realizing she's in the shot...
That's not our assistant, that's our boss. She's the best. :)
you guys should try making a "black snake"
all you do is make a 4:1 mixture of powder sugar to baking soda, add some lighter fluid, and light it. Makes some really interesting carbonate structures that smell like burn marshmallows :p
**AND THATS HOW THE UNIVERSE WAS BORN, SON!!**
Try the brown note music experiment
For the final one, how much KI did you mix with the 500ml of 30% H2O2?
Yeah, what's the ratio?
I tried that at my summer camp, but it didn't exactly explode as big as yours did.:)
Does he have an sti??
I'm actually doing this experiment for my school...and I wanted to know if mixing the water with the iodide was necessary?
yes
Make a potassium permanganate and glycerine fire. I love that one.
i wanna see more videos on hard science...
Are you guys in SF?
one day this channel is going to be massive.
Does anyone here have the exact measurements? I have tried twice now just trying to guess how much of each thing they use & it isn't working. My kids were really excited both times (so was I 😉) and then disappointed because it didn't work
was elephant tooth paste originally used as tooth paste for elephants?
can you use it on your teeth?
You should do dry ice experiments
I just had the best idea. Add sodium polyacrylate to the H2O2 and iodide at some point, like just before it erupts. I feel like that would make a snow volcano!
Please, make the font in the videos more legible.
A Ruben's tube would be cool. I mean seriously, dancing fire.
is it dangerous? or toxic? or poison? i mean if it touch your skin, any side-effect? sorry if this too silly but i'm still newbie :|
It's basically a really intense bleach. That bit I got on my arm burned me. You also don't want to ingest it.
tri a combination of salpeter and salt cooked to a hige temp to make a somke bombe
where do you get the potassium iodide
Amazon!
Try and do something really explosive with chemicals that makes a lot of colors and try to get it in slow mo as well with Gavin from Slow mo guys/roosterteeth
You'll get to advertise on his show and that should get some more attention for the show!
I want to do this as a prank. Pretend I'm fixing myself a drink during dinner and suddenly a giant foamy tube flies out of my glass, and I'll act totally confused, creating some sort of hilarious reactions from everyone else. But I'm a little afraid of it totally exploding like that hahah
B careful if you do it this way the hydrogen peroxide could give you a chemical burn if it's not completely used up by exothermic reaction after that's why they have gloves!! Don't play in it have fun.
"I like that initial bit, but then it slowed down and I got sad."
That was awesome!! Science rocks :D
His came out a lot faster at the end because he shook them vigorously?
I'd be awesome if you guys could find out a way to cool beer in like, seconds or what not :P
I'm loving the show! Keep up the good work! :)
Just dunk the bottle in liquid nitrogen for a couple seconds. It might freeze though.
make a steam driven cork cannon that launches a 2 inch wide cork
Elephant toothpaste elephant toothpaste elephant toothpaste elephant toothpaste( sung to the tune of do you like waffles)
I got inspired i'm going to try to do it with my dad and my brother!!
Love this show
I love this show. I really do.
How to get a very fast reaction just like at 2:57 ?
Feels weird watching this after almost 3 seasons of Breaking Bad. The chemistry must be respected \o/
you should do an experiment with Electrolysis, the process of separating hydrogen and oxygen bonds in water with electricity, and fill balloons with hydrogen, and then set them on fire!! Should be fairly cheap to do
Este par si que sabe divertirse. Esas locas ideas son buenas para las fiestas. #Science #HardScience
since you made oobleck... can you make is dance????
make eliphand toothpaste so that is goes at least 2 metres high then throw it and whoa
You should try some things from the anarchist cook book
How does insect spray work?
They soak into their skin and basically burns them.
mercury thiocyanate plz
why is there steam
thermite and dry ice
MAGNIFYING GLASS LASER!
Cool chemistry
can u guys make something mega out of party poppers
Try making dry ice and ice cream with dry ice
Woah! That was cool!
Shoutout to Ms.Papania
probably make a big explosion using something maybe a pop bottle
Do a tron suit with the helmet and disc and the color red
this show fucking rules, that explosion was nuts
3:09 tara with her nose pinched by the goggles looks kinda like emma stone lmao
If you can't find the potassium, just use active dry yeast!
You can get the potassium iodine for about $20 on Amazon. More than enough for every experiment you saw her.
next video make out plz
Make a smoke machine using dry ice
Drink beer & make stuff. Best shirt ever.
Make a staged water rocket or a baking soda+ vinegar one
make a volcano experience please
thats cool With the explosion. That happen's and that is What make's it worthwhile. So awesome
This is awesome :)
3:04 Hahaha That is SOOOO cool! :D
why is it called elephant toothpaste?
They should have a million subscribers
