Although if it *WAS* Cherenkov Radiation that could imply that the slug is accelerated by one or more nuclear blasts, maybe eve in combonation with said magnetic accelerators, getting that beast of a slug up to speed would be challenging to say the least. Heck, with a slug that big it could be a Nuclear shaped charge and just vaporise anything with debris, extreme heat, and ungodly radiation that nothing could survive without breaking down into a cloud of charged particles, ain't nothing in the 'verse that could take that no matter what you make it out of, no need for super scifi materials or exotic energy, just brutal nuclear might
@@p.b.7717 Very interesting speculation on the slug, NGL, and yeah, Pykrete / ice as a ship armor is smart, it's abundant, radiation absorbent, re-useable, and quite tough, apparently during WW2 there was a project to try to make a massive super-carrier out of a giant refrigerated hull of Pykrete both because it could be tough as heck and easy to repair, it's also insulation enough to stay solid for a long time even when heated (thus it would probably be energy weapon resistant too). also if the slug itself still had enough nuclear material in it after launch and compressed it to critical on impact, that would add a spectacular extra kick of damage
@@UNSCPILOT The slug likely is just a cylinder of solid metal. Probably Iron as thats easy to come by in space. They probably use the nuclear warhead to help fire it. Namely by having a nuclear divide (probably a very large fusion warhead) bedded in water. When you detonate the device the water is instantly turned into quickly expanding plasma and the shockwave is absolutely astronomic. The water would explain the blue glow as water is hydrogen, which glows pinkish blue and oxygen, which glows blue. As a funny anecdote. This is why the Americans might also have been the first to shoot something into space by accident, as they created such a nuclear cannon during an underground test in 1957 and shoot a 500 kilo steel plate into the sky with at least six times escape velocity, roughly 240,000 km/h. While its likely it vaporized on its way to space, there is a chance it did survive and is still going somewhere in the solar system.
It's funny how the Guana practically gets SQUISHED by a super large Coilgun, but survives because it wasn't STABBED with a special lance. Other than that, ignore my habit of nitpicking. It's a really good show.
At first, they had only a very limited amount of the material (to the point that recovering a lance was more important than saving pilots). When they discovered how to make it, they naturally invented bullets and guns.

You most probably know this by now, but the asteroid isn't integral part of the ship, but rather a collection of random space rocks, gathered to be mined later and holding onto Sidonia by sheer force of gravity alone. I'm only commenting this because it's one of the most clever things in the show imo.

This fool just better be glad that Killy from Blame! didn't fire his Graviton Radiation Emitter. Aka, Hangun of God. Look it up for a good laugh, you'll thank me later. Here's the in-depth explanation for people who like that kind of stuff, like me: *SPOILER* Imagine a small black handgun about the size of something James Bond would use, only it has the ability to pierce through about 50 Miles (yes, with an M) of solid titanium, then detonates everything along its path without about the force of a 300 megaton nuclear warhead. It's akin to killing an anthill by dropping an asteroid on it or some shit, no exaggeration. Oh, and and it can blow up moons with one shot. The bullet, or beam, also simply looks like a little needle has been fired lol. You can't make this shit up. Technical/Physics based explanation: It's essentially a black hole gun, or singularity generator. Everything in the path of the bullet is literally warped in space-time and essentially imploded then exploded with the force of a supernova. No known material in the universe can withstand it, as it literally warps any known substance (hell, matter itself) into and then deatomizes it with a 100& release of energy. The kickback of the weapon is also so strong that it is like firing a tank, only with your arm. Breaking the main character's arm (who is a super power cyborg) on multiple occasions. Pretty much my favorite sci-fi/anime weapon to date and takes a huge piss on a lightsaber, which is essentially a toothpick to this thing. /epic rang over.
Can we just remember the fact that 15 seconds prior to this clip a girl got consumed alive by that alien?
Found this vid, commenting for everyone to receive a notification and learn that movie is coming 🕺
It's funny how the Guana practically gets SQUISHED by a super large Coilgun, but survives because it wasn't STABBED with a special lance. Other than that, ignore my habit of nitpicking. It's a really good show.
from what I can gather, the Kabizashi kills the Gauna because of a chemical reaction with the Gauna core instead of any kinetic effect.
I see. Interesting to know.
Taras Shevchenko that's correct. There's a point later on where Nagate kills a gauna by lightly touching it with the tip of a kabizashi.
+itsapainfulworld The Gauna mass surely was destroyed, but the core not. =D
At first, they had only a very limited amount of the material (to the point that recovering a lance was more important than saving pilots). When they discovered how to make it, they naturally invented bullets and guns.
I would love to see a game set in any of Nihei's universes
And hell- about this anime, I love the sounds of the targetting interface
And that is why we do not fire from the hip.
"...it keeps going until it hits something, somewhere, somehow!..."
Ah, Mass Effect 2, good stuff
Someone should dub over 00:21 with Jeff goldblum going, "must go faster, must go faster, gogogogogogogo!
HMC - heavy mass cannon IPM - interplanetary missile
So it's a stupid huge coilgun firing slugs the size of buildings. Sweet.
IMO, that's more than a building seemingly, it's more like a city block... or two.
Seriously love this cannon regardless of the size of the slug
*Doom Slayer has entered the chat*
一つ気付いたんだが、重質量砲はシドニアの後部から射出してるはずなのに、モニター上では前部から射出した事になってるな。
Need the next series!!!!!
Bruh and that’s just the teeny tiny side canon… image that fking brick in the front hole!!! 💀 Death Star and star killer base charging up their laser at sidonia.. mean while Sidiona already done lunched a big ass bring actual is large enough to kill the dinosaurs 10x over at them.. and that’s still not even the main front canon.. 😂
The smoke from the heavy mass cannon made a pp
I just now realized at 0:13 seconds, right when it fires you can see sidonia begin to drift backwards from the recoil of the gun
Im impressed it survived that.
How people want to break their bag of ice cubes.
This show was so freaking cool. Shame it was never finished
It will be finished, a movie is in the works. It will be the ending from the manga.
but really if you read the manga till the end the end had a really random ending
Fanfics might never come to light or if the story would continue
Im planning on Replicating Sidonia in Space Engineera
mechs with linking features to literally rain orbital shells on enemies is something I surely wish was a thing
when you realise, what they fired is just the secondaries (those who followed the manga and anime will understand what i'm implying here"
Because Gauna can be only killed with the lance and the "special shells"
Hmm needs more Dakka
You don't need aerodynamics when you're in SPACE!
Here in the west we are a bit annoyed that this getting a film instead of a third season, what say you Japan?
They better at least have a good version of this scene, or the whole movie would be a waste, wouldn't it?
Still don't get how your Mass Driver video is still going while my Higgs Particle Cannon video from KoS was struck down on day one.
I swear copyright logic of RUclips is nonexistant.
What is is about the extremely satisfying fire sequence of the HGP that makes it impossible to stay up on YT?
I STILL can't find any video of it here on RUclips. Yet other KoS clips are fine!
Yea...Its really good
im here again after watching the last movie 😄
Sir Isaac Newton is the Deadliest Son of a Bitch in Space.
whats the intense song name called? when the cannon fires
Phantom
Its called Eikou No Tsugumori off of the OST.
Earth
Thanks
I bet this is the sibling of bfg 10000 or some sorts
there was a much longer clip that showed the asteroid job leading up this final moment, which was pretty impactful (especially for that character).
Guess it got too many views for youtube's taste :/
when you got that super gawk gawk 3000 combo and killstreak
Someone please tell me what the music in this scene is
"Eikou no Tsugumori" from the soundtrack.
overkill is underrated
Lol they can't kill gauna without kabi
I wonder what the recoil on that thing is like?
Enough to lob the entire Saturn 5 rocket to the moon, several times over, the entire rocket, not just the capsule and lander, and that's still underselling the forces involved by orders of magnitude
Heavy mass cannon? Isn't that an IPM interplanetary missile!!
Season 3...?wh3n???!!!!?
5/3/2016 nothing has been said about third season :'(
fuvvvvvvk
They are working on this side thing called blame right now which seems to be part of the same universe, possibility for a season 3 is still in the air for sure
And I thought that 12ga tungsten slugs hurt... or that project mjolner packed a punch.
The music of this scene, What it’s name?
Eikou no Tsugumori
Taras Shevchenko thank you 😊
Shit son anyone have an idea how large and long that slug was?
0:25.....I'd say....... pretty big
only thing that see wrong here is the art for the ship where round came from has it set leaveing ship from front but round is shown firing from the rear of the ship but still fuckin epic!
no that cannon is in the rear
+devastator5042 at 0:18 when shows round going from ship on the screen its moveing from the front side not the aft pay attention please.
by how its going the top right of the screen pic should been were round is shown going but instead its bottom left which is front section of the ship.
That image on screen is obviously not the correct scale. It's just a positional marker.
not very good positional marker then
Every time I see that projectile it strangely reminds of a massive pill
More like Yamato in space....Its a fully functioning warship traveling the galaxy....
That's what you called . . heavy
yeah.. I don't think a glass of water and a aspirine is gonna fix that.
The gauna be like, Dafug
Another Asteroid-turned-into-a-ship, eh?
Marathon did it first.
You most probably know this by now, but the asteroid isn't integral part of the ship, but rather a collection of random space rocks, gathered to be mined later and holding onto Sidonia by sheer force of gravity alone. I'm only commenting this because it's one of the most clever things in the show imo.
First or not, it is still a sound concept based on realistic plans, no need to shame them for such a well grounded yet awesome idea especially when it's rarely used or even more rarely used properly
@@Kickiusz that is cool
And get rid of that giant pink thing
Manga feels better i guess
Fire really huge@$$ bullet
Now instead of just the slug, they should shoot a long rod, tungsten kinetic penetrator APFSDS rounds.
This fool just better be glad that Killy from Blame! didn't fire his Graviton Radiation Emitter.
Aka, Hangun of God. Look it up for a good laugh, you'll thank me later. Here's the in-depth explanation for people who like that kind of stuff, like me:
*SPOILER*
Imagine a small black handgun about the size of something James Bond would use, only it has the ability to pierce through about 50 Miles (yes, with an M) of solid titanium, then detonates everything along its path without about the force of a 300 megaton nuclear warhead.
If that doesn't make you want to read the manga Blame!, nothing will. A MUST, and one of the best, coolest, most experimental mangas/animations we have. It has influenced so much and not many people even know because it's so out there and downright incomprehensible in most areas.
+mercilessv If only it were available in english. I truly hope that with the news of a theatrical release we will also see an american distributor who will start publishing it again. #Burninhelltokyopop
I have already completed this Manga. Too bad there's no anime adaption except for some OVA's
Polygon's makinG A BLAME MOVIE WOOOOOOOOOO
Link?
run to the hills
The manga has such better shots of the action. It's absurd how a comic book can have better "cuts" than animation at times. Then again, this is Polygon pictures we're talking about.
SURVIVE THIS YOU SIDERAL FILTH
Amazing anime. Better than Attack on Titan imo.
AoT was inspired by this show back when it was just a manga.
@Truth Troll not sure but eren will wreck them since he can control titans plus they have levi and mikasa there you have tanikaze and tsumugi but they will cause a lot of damage
@Truth Troll im really sorry,i didn't mean to be rude but they have levi tho and i know gaunas are big and have long tentacles
@Truth Troll i think you have a point also have you watch darling in the franxx
@Truth Troll it's really good
