Thanks for this, being trying to find out what's up with mine for a bit, idle fault occurred the same time as the flexi on the exhaust failed so i thought that was the reason for lean fuel codes, problem persisted after new exhaust, you were spot on though, diaphragm almost completely torn all the way round. You're a gent.
Mine had a little squeal sound which I thought was a belt. On shutting down it did a little high pitched sigh. There was acceleration hesitancy, idle revs up and down and check engine light reading lean. Wish I'd watched this before taking it in, mechanic swapped out the PCV and the car is SO much better now!!
My 2.0 TFSI TT has an intermittent misfire - quite subtle but you can hear it at idle and there's a hesitation/judder under hard acceleration from 2500 rpm. Plugs and coils have been replaced and tested working OK. Got some injector cleaner today see if that helps but not convinced. May have to look in to the PCV
Neil Hutchinson I hope it’s the PCV as they are relatively cheap. See if you have any air leaking from the small hole on the diaphragm when the engine is running. Good luck 😉
Hi Charlie, I'v a misfire on idle, but when reving or driving she sounds mint, I never worked on one of those engines so my first thought was the cam chain. I couldnt see the pcv being the issue, but thought I'd drop this comment for your opinion if you dont mind. Thanks for sharing the video.
Hi Graham, Easy to check if the PCV diaphragm is split my putting your finger over the small hole, should be no air leaking. First I would run a scan for fault codes, and start with basics like spark plugs and try some coils if you have some to swap on for testing. (You can scope them for signal if you have a scope). A compression test won’t hurt either, does your use any oil as this can lead to a misfire. Fuelling and timing faults can also cause a misfire too so they can be tricky to pin point. Hope this helps. Charlie
Cheers for the reply, some good info there. no it doesn't seem to be losing oil, the motor is actually in good nick only for the misfire . . I was going to stick in the autocom but I ordered one of those obdeleven's the other day and hoping to have it by Friday so I'll hold out until then to scan it. Apparently they are the next best thing to vagcom/vcds. I'm hoping it is just the PCV, as the misfire seens to be only in it when idling, but the scan will tell allot. Either way I will comment back on what it turns out to be. Thanks again Charlie.

Ajay Smith bbm 7F30E886 Hi 👋 It is possible this could have an effect on oil consumption but some of these engines suffer with abnormal wear and oil use. Audi did change a lot of engines for free so worth a bit of research.
My Audi A3 not idling properly took it to 6 mechanics nothing worked also when my car is on it just turns off and battery light pops up even tho I changed my battery a month ago. So when I take my foot of the throttle the engine shuts off car runs perfectly fine so only those two problems
Hi It’s worth checking the pcv and diverter valve, depending what engine you have. The valves can stick too, or you could have an air or vacuum leak. Take it to a specialist would be my advise.
In your case you would need to start from the beginning with diagnosis, check for any fault codes, smoke test for any air leaks, make sure the delete you fitted is still secure.
@@giovannimora9134 if that is accompanied by a loss of coolant then you have a issue with coolant leaking internally. Normally the smoke would be there when u Rev too.! Your idle issue could be sticking valves, to check this you would need to do a cylinder leakage test. Or remove the inlet manifold and have a look for carbon build up

How do you check pcv valve at idle with the air box removed???
Hi
On top of the valve is a small hole, check no air leaking from this hole. If air is found then the diaphragm is split and the valve is faulty.
Hi buddy what blocks/settings do i go into to reset engine adaptions ? Ive done throttle body adaption before. Thanks
This account is my dad's ill make sure to tell him to notice your comment and I'll try to get your video for you 👍👍👍
Have you got any links to the pcv valve you used to replace it?
modo I always use a genuine PCV valve, give your local dealer or genuine part supplier a call.

Hello.. would this cause high oil consumption? Due to increasing pressure if the valve isn't working would it push oil past the oil control rings?

Is there any other common faults before I start to rip it apart lol ?
I found the problem it was air mass sensor
I got that issue but it's not that I can hear vacuum leak near the master cylinder
Hi
The first thing to do is run a few smoke tests starting with the vacuum system, hopefully this will show the leak.
Many thanks

Try checking for any air leaks from the pcv or inlet system. The inlet valves can get coked up so may be worth looking at.
