We need research and correct info on how to extinguish a lithium battery fire? The blanket will work on a normal car as it will suffocate the fire by preventing oxygen to fuel the fire. It can only work after the lithium has burned out as that produces its own oxygen. However, the lithium fire will ignite the rest of the car and surroundings. Inside parking lots must be a nightmare. There's other options, but I only understand the copper based foam as copper is an excellent heat conductor and will cool but not extinguish the fire. Like preventing the fire to reach other cells and surroundings. I don't understand how CO2 is working, but all the other options is far more expensive than water

The deluge system will be triggered and then lithium will explode. The carpet has no effect on the lithium fire itself, but the steal structure might start to burn itself due to the heat. The carpet do not cool the lithium fire whatsoever. It is misinformation in the video. It likely work on gas cars. It wasn't the fire that took down the 9/11 twin trade towers, but the heat. Putting a quick disconnect fire hose adapter on the blanket to supply water directly through the blanket could possibly be more effective, especially against larger cyber trucks.
With this invention. It is interesting to me how this was possibly only invented due to electric cars, despite the fact it would also be easily applied to normal car fires. This shows one step closer to adaptation, all we've seen up until now is the world adapting and getting better alongside the cars improving in quality, who's to say it won't continue all the way?

Gasoline cars were meant by the same reluctants as electric cars today. Back then they claimed no one needs to travel faster than four horses. Now can you image traveling as slow as a horse buggy today? As the cars got better new devices were needed to make traveling by car safer like windshield wipers, seat belts, air bags. Just like electric cars it will take time to make them safer, they just need to see what the problems are. If you truly believe that electric cars are worse for the environment it's a mute point. The companies see the need and much people smarter than you decided. And still there will be those too scared of change and what everything to stay status quo because of their fear.
