my Dad had this radio. early or late version I don't know. I always liked it. this is the one radio I wish he would have kept. thanks for the video and stay safe.
yeah, I owned two CPI's (circa 2000-2010) and let them go during a divorce & downsizing. These were a clients, good photo op as I now had one of each for the video. 73-Gregg s9radio

I don't recall as they're have been so many radios since then whether I had to deal with the final/driver on the two I owned, but pretty sure I contacted Merit (RF PARTS) way back when getting this info. BTW- Merit worked for the original Palomar Engineering prior to founding RF PARTS. He's been my go to answer-man 4-decades +. 73-Gregg s9radio
That was probably one of the best and most informative CB radio tech videos ive ever watched. thank you for producing this content you just gained a subscriber!
I wish CPI\Motorola came back with new high end am,New s-nfm 8K0 F3E (inc ctcss dcs) & ssb base and mobile heavy commercial grade base, trunk mount mobiles and heavy duty Hts. Did CPI ever export to Europe ? Fab video ,seen the interview too of CPI,well worth a watch. We in UK were aware of these Land Mobile Radios but never saw light of day in UK,only now we seeing them now with the internet what we missed out on! lol Being a RF\Engineer i can appreciate what they have done with that base, very high end commercial grade, loved the PA stage box! Did CPI ever deploy these in emgency services uses back in the day volenteers ,industry etc? I did hear & read Motorola CB had a set for Police Highways in USA used in USA patrol cars to monitor Ch09,was wondering if CPI had these as base stations ? Enjoyed the video, lovely set you have! 73's Rob P UK
Greg, I need some help. I hope you see this...I received a CP2000 with the BC2000 recently, and they were new in the box with paperwork and dc connectors. It receives perfectly, but does not transmit at all. I'm not sure, as it did on the day I put it into service. Antenna SWR was 1.32:1, so I'm not sure what happened. It also had the CPI desk mic, also new unused. What I would like is some help to get it repaired. By the way, excellent video! I will certainly share it.
54 Dallas is a friend of mine. David is really a great guy. When I was in need he was there. He is definitely a better friend than me. Only got love for you Dave. Thank you for being there.
The Stoner Pro & the ARF are probably the only two high-end rigs I've yet to experience. I'm well read on the Stoner, who knows, maybe one will show up for service some day. I'm downsizing and have the blinders on (steering clear of ebay) as I don't need anymore gear. 73-Gregg s9radio
Cpi quality was top notch iowned a cp 400 with home base power supply frequency counter and compression on air box it came with a turmer m+3 power mike it was an awesome performer until a b+e and some one else liked it better than me
Such a cool radio, but you've effectively scared me away from bidding on them when they come up. That recap job is beyond my skill level. The final section with the classic input and output section with pill style transistors is very cool. Unlike the home made amps, you also have the Chevyshev filter section. A real work of art.
No, when these rigs were made in '78 there was not much in common with the US channelized 1-40 & Europe's freqs. Would have been simple, remap the E-prom and retune the radio. 73-Gregg s9radio
On the right hand board near the front I can see some red blob tantalum capacitors with blue glue between them. There are a couple more on the boards. A lot of people replace these types as they have a tendency to short out.
Hey Greg, I need to call you since you don't hang with us on the 440 repeaters these days. I have a CP-400 and a CP-2000 that need some TLC. They both work but may need re-capped and alignments. Kapt Irk (aka: 'Wiskey November 911' from the old days) - LOL
Yea and for a 40 channel PLL synth, rather than the earlier 23 channel crystal socket rigs. For awhile I had an old Galaxy tube rig, surprisingly between or combining solid state and tube tech having crystals.

I purchased a CP 2000 that came with a spare set of driver/finals, they are the B12-12 transistor as the driver and the M9583 final.

Service is tough at my mountain location, try calling 949-497-WIRE (9473) and leave message as it usually goes right to voice mail. 73 - Gregg s9radio

Excellent video sir, and hope to see one like this on a Stoner Pro 40 base which I feel has similar quality! 73's

Do you have a link to the cpi president interview video you mentioned?
I posted the link here in the comments. 73 - Gregg s9radio

love my cpi 2000's
easy to see why 73-Gregg s9radio
Wow, that rig sure did had a lot of engineering thrown into it just for, "if I may say so", a C.B. radio that'll put modern CB's to shame.
You must remember. CB was the iPhone of the 70s.

Awesome 👌
No compression level 2 sounds best
