This is the video I have been waiting for a while, thank you! I am currently use my forte BG for espresso but was considering a df64 with ssp.

Would love to see you make a video going over tips and tricks to aligning the Df64. I did an okay job but i found it hard to get a perfect marker wipe. The upper burr carrier has only three small spaces to shim.

Damn I had a Vario and resold it, never tried the steel burrs.
When I had it I just ground directly into the portafilter with a funnel it worked well, Oh and I single dosed with it, without any mods, and mine had like 0.2g retention max, basically no retention, no bellows and no RDT necessary!
The 1zPresso K series is really nice as well, but yeah the Q2 Heptagonal is a lot cheaper. I've heard others say good things about the version with the Heptagonal burrs, I think the smaller burrs in it might make it harder or slower to grind (For light roast coffee in espresso range) vs the J series or K though.

Tunable grind size distribution is the next step in grinder technology

Another great video. well done buddy. since you enjoyed Q2 shots I think it is also a good place to recommend Lagom mini (especially with new power brick) to have a very similar to unimodal espresso style experience.

Incredible video, thank you. Can you tell the difference in milk based drinks between drinks with shots pulled on the 1zpresso and the Forte/DF64?

Just an update: the newst Vario W+ is basically a Forté inside.

    Many thanks for the video!
Question ... is the tilt base actually effective? is it worth it?
Request ... would you consider making a video on how to align the DF64's burrs?
    Cheers

Good video thanks. I have a setup very similar to yours. Out of curiosity, what profile did you use on the Decent?

Can you test them on filter as well please?
It’d also be awesome if you can include the Lagom mini one day (Obsydian and Moonshine burr)

Can you please explain the output if we brewed a traditional 1:2 shot with the SSP MP burrs ?
Like if you can do a taste comparison between 2 traditional 1:2 shots brewed at a 9 bar profile one with the SSP MP and one with traditional flat burrs and tell as what is the different in taste ?
Or just answer me because I can't find any information about this

As a rule of thumb, the less fines you have, the less body, chocollaty and roasty flavours, and muddyness you'll get. SSPs produce less fines so they will give you thinner, fruity and acidic, and clear (clarity means you should be able to easily make out the flavours mentioned in the coffee bag from the overall roastiness) shots.
The problem is that you need fines for the coffee to come out slower. So, if your burrs produce very little of them, you'll have a very hard time having a 1:2 shot come out at around 30 seconds. At the same grind size, they will extract much faster.

Great video! I just ordered these beans. What brew ratio would you recommend?

I pulled the shots in this video at 1:2.6 using a turbo bloom profile that peaked at 6 bar and finished in 20s. I used 90C water with 40 gh/40kh, but I think a little more buffer could be good. This is a reasonable starting point

Would you recommend a modded Vario with SSP’s over a ODE for pour over?

Great comparison ! Can the Baratza Forte with Ditting burrs or the DF64 grind fine enough for third wave Turkish coffee ?

    • @jkimmakes
      @jkimmakes  2 года назад

I have ground Turkish using the df64 with ssp mp burrs. The grinds become a fine powder and are capable of transferring an imprint of my fingerprint. I haven’t tried with the forte, so can’t verify that is possible. Alignment will be important for this.

Rewrite your title video. It was hard to find this video. Found it after 3weeks of typing Forte Baratza in the search engine. Maybe remove Forte+ and use a space to separate the characters. Enjoy the video, thanks 😊
