My buddy had a basset he got in 1991 I think. It was the best little dog ever. He got it from a fancy breeder. And as a puppy it's ears were so long it couldn't run. It would do 2 or 3 flips and it would just pout and cry. One of us had the idea to use a clothes pin to hold his ears back. That dog ran circles non stop for 20 minutes. Passed out and when he put the clothes pin back on it ran circles again. It was almost 6 months old before it could run free bird. He had thay dog for a very long time. Great great dog he was.
My "Hot Dog" doesn't like his nap time disturbed. His nap time seems to include my stationary presence. Since our move a yr ago he's followed me like a shadow and can't rest if I'm on my feet getting stuff done. He'll be falling asleep on his feet but he won't go to bed without me.
Those 2 cute little guys each have 550,000 nerve endings in their nose..The only dog that surpasses that is the Bloodhound with 640,000... Bassetts would have been used in Police Work if their legs were longer.....I have a Bassett..His name is 'Mr Smootch'
Every basset video of them playing one of them always has to try put the other's entire head in their mouth, take note if you watch lots of basset videos. Healthy looking hounds, nice to see.
Watching that was exhausting, it drained me. I need Gatorade but thr frig is 7 feet away - I doubt I would survive the journey. A nap will help restore my strength. Oh no, I dropped my blanket and I cannot reach my phone to call 911 for assistance! This is barbaric!!
