So impressed with these works of art labeled puppets! Puppeteering has been a political and social force all over the world especially before telegraphs, radio and TV. I’d love to share a martini with Mia Opinion! The artist has such a wonderful day job…oh, Harriet Tubmans shawl! Decades ago my hubby had to drive me all over rural Maryland trying to find her birth place. We finally found it…the farmer who owned the land showed us a tiny sign in middle of a corn field marking the location of the slave quarters in which she was born. He also said I was not the first pilgrim. I complained about the lack of recognition of the birthplace of one of the most important soldiers in the battle to end slavey and to give all women the vote and equal rights via letters and phone calls to various politicians. Those to newspapers were not published nor did I receive any response from the politicians. I planed to raise the issue at the federal level but became severely disabled after an illness. I don’t know if all she has to mark her birth now is still a tiny sign in a cornfield. I hold on to the hope that the farm has not been paved over, that the location is widely known, that directions can be easily found on google, and her birthplace marked by a huge piece of granite engraved with all she accomplished in spite of the country in which she lived.
