What a lovely interview with Ms Ann Druyen… I was and am such an admirer of Carl Sagan, I used to watch “Cosmos” with such joy on Television and I also read most of his books, loved “Contact” and the movie based on it, and after watching this interview I now have so much respect and love for Ann Druyen… It is so lovely to hear what a beautiful connection and love was between Carl Sagan and Ann Druyen and they must have had such meaningful and joyous life together ❤️🌷❤️🌷❤️🌷

This is one of the most wonderful conversations. Matt & Ann share so many enriching stories. And the spirit of Carl is in the room. Here’s to the Planetary Society for making this happen.

One of my favorites. I have an original 1985 edition, which I've read twice. On the last page it describes how the book was based on a script for a movie, which is the opposite of what most people think (the movie wasn't as good as the book...) The movie came first, but was finished after the book. Either way, the book is a must read.

From Contact, Part II: The Machine, (on page 161 in the 1985 edition):
"The Almighty Lecturer, by displaying the principles of science in the structure of the universe, has invited man to study and to imitation. It is as if He had said to the inhabitants of his globe that we call ours, "I have made an earth for man to dwell upon, and I have rendered the starry heavens visible, to teach him science and the arts. He can now provide for his own comfort, and learn from my munificence to all to be kind to each other."
-Thomas Paine, The Age of Reason (1794)
