This video says it all you turn on the video and you hear the sirens going off the unrest the danger the sadness, the trauma but yet you are there painting a lovely painting of your beautiful surroundings. God bless you.
Lovely painting. The sky effect is so delicate, so soft. As always, appreciate your friendly running dialogue, and taking us all along on this great painting adventure. The children playing, the birds chirping, the sirens- all part of the energy flow that adds to painting. I learn something beautiful every video. Theres always at least one theme I catch onto that I am in need of , that is priceless. Thank-you!
Always look forward to watching your painting process, sketching in, placements, color temperature, and most importantly your narration. Always enjoyable watching, thank you
This video says it all - your skill, inventive and astute awareness - not only are you a good painter, you’re a really talented teacher. Your ability to verbalize the subtleties of a really complex subject (damn the light coming thru the Cyprus!!) is such a gift. And you seem to have the place to yourself! Very very impressive. Well done Sir Painting Surfer.
Morning Michael. The trees look amazing, it would be cool to see a side by side comparison of the other paintings you've done of this seen. Thanks as always ❤
I do really appreciate your commenting on your painting process as you are painting. It is so constructive and helpful. I think it was a brilliant idea to paint a scene more than once, and maybe with a different color scheme…(maybe mostly warm colors vs mostly cool colors?) Thank you again for sharing.😊
A lot of serenity and peace there. Very, very Oriental in feeling. Just lovely. Keep the dead tree. It's a fallen heron. P.S. It is amazing what a dab of red does (see Turner). I try to get a little red in all of my painting. Lovely. Thanks for sharing.
The simple shapes and bold brushwork make this one of your best works. The red additions echo Turner on ‘varnishing day’ when he brought his paintings to life with a dash of vermillion!
Such a difference once you add red to the scene. I find too much green in a landscape daunting but the contrast of tiny splashes of a vivid colour makes the painting pop withought being garish. Lovely tranquil scene.
I really like this painting - I think you really captured the colors and sense of light. I’m sure by now you have probably made the adjustment you talked about but I would say that if you even brought down the value of the piece of branch jutting off the right, so your eye doesn’t go straight to it, that might be enough.

OMG! I really love this one Michael. Definitely at the top of the list of one of my most favorites from you. Love the subject matter, the thick paint, the colors… do you have any birch trees in your area? I would love to see you paint some of those.
Thanks, glad you like! Birches are used as landscape trees in California but they don't appear in the wild (that I'm aware of). We do have aspen trees in the mountains, which are similar to birches!
Good morning. The scene that we can see in the video appears to have much brighter colours. In your painting the colours are grayed even the sky is grayer and less luminous. Do you do that purposefully or it just happened ? Do you think grayed colours give more energy or depth ? Great painting
Love the composition in this one, Michael! You don't do a lot of paintings that are vertical or maybe you do and I didn't notice. LOL. Some of your cityscapes are vertical. Anyway, beautiful painting!!!!

I love the midtown look. It looks very lovely and you’re realistic placement of the colors and shapes are spot on.❤
I really love this one!!! The red in the trees add a really nice vibrancy ❤
Looks like their trunks! Really cool effect!

The decision to leave the sky flat/neutral was a good one. The eye needs a place to rest next to the cypress tree. Beautiful results!

I can imagine a painting like this having a very serene impact in the space it occupied.

Another winner! Love your paintings and style!
Good morning Michael. Agreed, that bit of red makes a difference 👍🏽 Enjoying the abstract paint strokes 😊
My favorite painting of yours so far. Amazing. As a beginning oil painter, you inspire me. Thanks for your videos. 💚

Thanks, they're Monterey Cypress.
