  • Yamaha's THR100 heads and cabinets embody our drive to never stand still, a sentiment shared by our artists. To capture the sound and spirit of this new line we asked Jeff Schroeder of The Smashing Pumpkins to team up with Yamaha drum artist Khari Parker and bassist Elliot Taggart, musicians he had never played with before, at Minbal in Chicago to see what tones he could bring out of the amp in a studio environment.

While I love the concept and implementation of the new Yamaha THR100hd, I don't see the value in doing a demo of the new rig with a ton of pedals in front of the amp. Sure, that works, but I would have found it much more compelling to watch a session where the guitarist got all of his tones only from the head/cab. The right pedals can make almost any power amp and cab sound great.

I think this video just register the artist experience with it, not a tradicional demo. There is another one with an interview. He tryed to test how the amp accepted his regular pedals in front and after.

Quite like his playing and style. He adds those trippy notes with pentatonic scales and stuff that is kinda what I play like. I just call it space rock jams.

It's a Mike Stern signature model, which is a production model.

You can find the ms311 used sometimes. I wish they would release something like that today, just upgraded but not Mike Stern signature. The 311 was the best looking tele ever. Release that with an upgraded neck, ss frets and keed it in the $800 range like the Revstars
