I just want to share my experience. After the "Today's Phrase", he asked me what word I could use instead of "stand" dun sa sentence na "I can't stand that noise, either." Do all applicants have to go through the status "scoring"? I had my 2nd demo today. She said to wait for the result. This time it was a woman named Emily. The first one was sir Francis, he was really prompt and direct. hehe

I just passed my demo after 6 tries, yes that’s right. Anim na beses akong binigyan ng chance ni Native Camp & I’m so thankful sa mga admins and for Teacha Karen cause I applied what she taught in here for my demo. Here’s my experiences sa 6 demos ko. 1st & 2nd (Sir Francis)- pina retake nya ako dahil hindi ako nakasagot about part of speech and gave the directions in a simple manner. 3rd- All is good, answered all the questions and did everything in an organized way except that I haven’t smiled a lot dahil na din sa kaba so sabi ni admin i pass nya sa upper management then ayun, retake na naman. 4th- Sobrang okaaay na talaga like super perfect na sya except that I commit a mistake in correcting the answer of the student. You should really compliment first the answer before correcting it like “ Your answer is good however, instead of saying….” 5th- I thought heto na talaga since I’m pretty confident but then it turns out my mic is not working well and hindi ako madinig ni admin so retake. 6th- AND FINALLY!!! hahahahaa nakakapanghina na talaga ng loob pero I admire Maam Isabella, super friendly niya na admin. She motivated me before I start my demo kaya nawala din ang kaba ko dahil nga I can feel at ease with her. Sana ganito lahat ng admins para hindi ma intimidate iyong teachers. Pag siya iyong admin natapat sainyo, do your best guys! ❤️🤍
@@Feynasia Hello, I’m sorry to hear that. What did the admin told you? I really don’t have the power for them to change their decisions but in my case, I was given a lot of chances because I almost got the demo perfectly.
That persistence and luck! Persistence because you never gave up! You never let failure discourage you. And.. luck because some admins, do not give retake options anymore. As in if you fail, see you again in 6 months. Wow! I'm so happy for you

I failed the first one because of camera issues and my eye contact with the cam or the admin but I took the retake that same day and I was very fortunate to have Melissa as the admin who went to my demo. Hi teach thank you so much po. I just passed my demo lesson today. And sobrang effective talaga ung pinagaralan mo na ung lesson ahead of time and tlagang prepared ka. My first try is retake, dahil nag freeze daw video settings ko (pero di pako nagstart magdemo nun) after nun nagwait ulit ako ilang minutes lang tapos nag enter na ulit sa admin. I did my best to build rapport. And topic ko is Why do you need natto for the barbecue. And reminder to everyone na mag aapply: please review this one 🤣 Sa today's phrase I was asked if which one is the subject from the question "Why fo you need Natto for the barbecue?" I said Natto ofcourse, the she said what about the you here? And naconfuse ako ng sobra 🤣🤣 diko na nasagot ng tama 🙂 I did passed because God is really good. You can do it! Practice is key! Grace under pressure too :) Treat your demo as if it's the last. There are some teachas only give 1 change for retake and those not given a retake at all :(

Unfortunately I couldn't use your tips and "show off" for the demo because they recently announced that they are skipping that part in hiring for now. Congratulations Teach Sadie! I am an applicant, too. Three weeks ago, I took the EPT and passed, but I didn't proceed yet to system check bcuz my camera wasn't working properly at that time. I'll finish the whole process after this holiday season (next week). I'm quite relieved to know that there will be no demo anymore. What about the 5th step which is the 10-minute quiz? Did you take that as well? I'm just curious....thank you teach.
This is crazy! I’ve studied so much but I feel so much pressure and fear that I may get one word wrong and fail. This is insane! For one word or saying even if you’re an amazing teacher? This is not ok
Same thoughts when I applied, though, when I really looked into it and tried to see things on NC's perspective, it's kinda nice they're asking for "perfection" when it comes to protocols/ SOPS because they don't provide employee training or upskilling anymore. The lessons are "scripted", they provide everything, even the step by step lesson plans so I guess they want to check if we know how to follow protocols /instructions even under pressure.

Was it the interviewer/admin who asked you to change the lesson material? Or did it happen by accident? If so, simply change the material from the TEXTBOOK tab and look for Grammar Beginner or Grammar middle
If we teach (this is my 1st time), must we let them know that we have an accent or must we try to sound American? I'm from South Africa so we sound closer to UK ppl than Americans

I just want to thank you so so muuuuch 🥺 I followed all your tips po and prepared to my heart's content. Now I'm studying for the Quiz na 🥰 Salamat po talaga! ❤️ And to add lang po, sa 1st demo ko kay Ms. Jez, she asked me what is natto, meaning of fermented, nutrients one can get from fermented food and examples. Sa 2nd demo ko po, Sir Francis asked me to explain why we should put '-ed' on the verb sa Would you mind 'if' pattern. Just wanted to share these para makapag-prepare din po 'yung iba. Hindi kasi talaga biro yung demo haha. And another tip, if gusto niyo po na matapos agad at di maghintay ng mahaba, be on standby by 9 am. That's what I did and I finished in 1 day. Yun lang po. Those quizzes are like your training to teach :) you will no longer have formal training as everything is just for self-study :) you can take those quizzes for an unlimited number of times until you get a passing score.

both are valid forms of questions: would you mind my closing the windows? (you are talking about the action of closing the windows) would you mind if I closed the windows? (you are talking about the "if" situation of closing the windows)

Hi Teacha, great video. I am still confused with instructing the student on Exercise A,. Do you include Favour/call Permission/call when you read the sentences? And do you instruct them as to how they are going to complete the sentences. Example...... Would you mind (my borrowing the phone) Thank you so much.
Think about it this way, you are making the student understand the concept/idea of the phrase :) so you could say "if you are asking for a favor using the verb "call" you say : Would you mind if I asked you to call him? " then student just says "Would you mind if I asked you to call him? "
I had to retake the demo because of only one issue: my typing skills. I sent incorrectly spelled words in the Chatbox. I guess I'm not used to typing on my laptop .. Probably need to get that extended separate keyboard 😄
Would you mind if I closed the windows? One trap question sa demo lesson po is bakit past form of the verb (closed) yung ginamit instead of the present form (close). Do you mind if I ask you to explain further po the rule behind this? Thank you.
The question starts with a past tense modal verb : WOULD YOU, thus the verb should be on its past tense. If the question starts with the auxiliary verb DO, the verb should be on the present tense.

I never got my TESOL from Akaso because they refuse to give it, so I got mine (another one) from International Open Academy instead. Native Camp doesnt need TESOL :) just 6 months ESL experience

Hi teacha Karen, I have a question if the admin messes up and intentionally does a grammar mistake, when we correct it, should we ask them to repeat the correct sentence twice?

The key is to use Cambridge dictionary :) you can define anything and know all sorts of parts of speech. Watch my video on the Demo Class Trap questions, I'm sure you'll learn a lot 🙏

I'm sorry you did not pass :( the last say doesnt come from the admin, but from Japanese QAs :( you have to retake. Usually your demo is subject for review from our Japanese QAs/admins too :(
I had mt demo lesson this morning and i didn't pass 😔 he said that i have the potential, however i must be more enthusiastic. And look to the camera more often instead of looking only to the screen. I didn't even finish the hole 25 minutes. Is that a bad sign?

Teacher Francis asked me why we use close in past tense on “Would you mind if I closed the window?” and I didn’t know how to answer that. I failed the first attempt.
Because it starts with a conditional "IF" and you are stating a situation that already happened... like "if i closed the window" ... "If I took you out on a date" you are talking about a situation or event that already happened, that's why you use the past tense. You are asking if the person would mind IF the situation / event takes place
I've watched other vlogs saying that there were really some applicants who waited not just 1-5 hours but even weeks or months before you can finally have your demo due to evaluators' availability. That was a year ago. How much more nowadays.
I hope not months anymore, I think last year there was a time when they went on a hiring freeze. So far, we haven't received any announcements that such thing is happening. Thus, I'm hoping that the 6 hour wait time is the worst case scenario nowadays
Yes, please expect to wait for a long while. Patience is key. best time to wait if at 9-10am window :) they'r available usually from 10am-2pm, 4pm-8pm MNL

I did my demo lesson today and when I finished the lady told me that everything went on fine and when next I come they will take my information but my activity bar is still showing retake demo so am really confuse I don't know if that is how it's normally done or I had to move straight to account information. OMG, I don't think she tagged you as passed :( you should be on the next phase and DEMO should say OK (as in completed and passed). I'm not sure what happened there but you will not be able to proceed not unless there's an OK sign on DEMO :(

The first one was with Francis, was tagged retake coz there was some noise (someone asked me if I started already) and also I was not so prepared after waiting for almost 3 hrs Huhu..so then I retook the demo and it was Anna, she said ,"so far the demo was good, Iyou are very familiar with the class flow and you also use the chatbox....blah...blah", for now I will put you on scoring status for the other admins to check the demo just wait for 24-48 hrs if you see passed you can continue to account info r if you see failed you can reapply after 6months", when I checked it says retake demo again so today I took demo for the 3rd time, and it was Francis again. I wasn't able to go ahead with the class we were just on the intro until phrases...though I was able to follow the class flow with the chatbox but I was just not so happy coz I tried to be prepared and practice but wasn't able to continue, and was wondering if that part could passed since he just cut me off and said that was okay teacher, I will refer this demo to my supervisor I will put you on scoring status. Then he said I can see here you were on scoring I hope you can pass this time", (sighed) I just hope I could make it, I really need to get this.

It's not a silly question. Think of it this way, they don't care how you get the answers as long as you give it in a few seconds like 5-10 seconds. More than 10 seconds would be a red flag because we do not want to keep our students waiting. this is why you must have a reliable internet connection and a reliable device so you can multi-task well.

Hi teach thank you so much po. I just passed my demo lesson today. And sobrang effective talaga ung pinagaralan mo na ung lesson ahead of time and tlagang prepared ka. My first try is retake, dahil nag freeze daw video settings ko (pero di pako nagstart magdemo nun) after nun nagwait ulit ako ilang minutes lang tapos nag enter na ulit sa admin.

This is crazy! I’ve studied so much but I feel so much pressure and fear that I may get one word wrong and fail. This is insane! For one word or saying even if you’re an amazing teacher? This is not ok
Same thoughts when I applied, though, when I really looked into it and tried to see things on NC's perspective, it's kinda nice they're asking for "perfection" when it comes to protocols/ SOPS because they don't provide employee training or upskilling anymore. The lessons are "scripted", they provide everything, even the step by step lesson plans so I guess they want to check if we know how to follow protocols /instructions even under pressure.

Was it the interviewer/admin who asked you to change the lesson material? Or did it happen by accident? If so, simply change the material from the TEXTBOOK tab and look for Grammar Beginner or Grammar middle

Sa 2nd demo ko po, Sir Francis asked me to explain why we should put '-ed' on the verb sa Would you mind 'if' pattern.
Just wanted to share these para makapag-prepare din po 'yung iba. Hindi kasi talaga biro yung demo haha. And another tip, if gusto niyo po na matapos agad at di maghintay ng mahaba, be on standby by 9 am. That's what I did and I finished in 1 day.

Those quizzes are like your training to teach :) you will no longer have formal training as everything is just for self-study :) you can take those quizzes for an unlimited number of times until you get a passing score.

Hi Teacha, great video. I am still confused with instructing the student on Exercise A,. Do you include Favour/call Permission/call when you read the sentences? And do you instruct them as to how they are going to complete the sentences. Example...... Would you mind (my borrowing the phone) Thank you so much.
Think about it this way, you are making the student understand the concept/idea of the phrase :) so you could say "if you are asking for a favor using the verb "call" you say : Would you mind if I asked you to call him? " then student just says "Would you mind if I asked you to call him? "

One trap question sa demo lesson po is bakit past form of the verb (closed) yung ginamit instead of the present form (close). Do you mind if I ask you to explain further po the rule behind this? Thank you.
The question starts with a past tense modal verb : WOULD YOU, thus the verb should be on its past tense. If the question starts with the auxiliary verb DO, the verb should be on the present tense.

A new subscriber here Teacha KAren, I'm still puzzled on how to explain "What is WINDOW or DOOR?" in a Francis level mode. Just in case I'm one of the lucky teacher to fall under Evaluator Francis spell at least I'll have some antidote... ahahha! An answer that he's looking, what is iittttt???. My ideas are way too broad. I'm sure he'll cut me off. :P I hope mapansin ang nagpapansin. lol
The key is to use Cambridge dictionary :) you can define anything and know all sorts of parts of speech. Watch my video on the Demo Class Trap questions, I'm sure you'll learn a lot 🙏

Thing is, if it says for retake or retake demo, you gotta retake :( the demo kasi is subject to approval (pass or fail) to our Japanese admins too.

I'm sorry you did not pass :( the last say doesnt come from the admin, but from Japanese QAs :( you have to retake. Usually your demo is subject for review from our Japanese QAs/admins too :(

Because it starts with a conditional "IF" and you are stating a situation that already happened... like "if i closed the window" ... "If I took you out on a date"
you are talking about a situation or event that already happened, that's why you use the past tense. You are asking if the person would mind IF the situation / event takes place

I've watched other vlogs saying that there were really some applicants who waited not just 1-5 hours but even weeks or months before you can finally have your demo due to evaluators' availability. That was a year ago. How much more nowadays.
I hope not months anymore, I think last year there was a time when they went on a hiring freeze. So far, we haven't received any announcements that such thing is happening. Thus, I'm hoping that the 6 hour wait time is the worst case scenario nowadays

Greetings Teacher. I did my demo lesson today and when I finished the lady told me that everything went on fine and when next I come they will take my information but my activity bar is still showing retake demo so am really confuse I don't know if that is how it's normally done or I had to move straight to account information. Please help me clarify this. Thank You.
OMG, I don't think she tagged you as passed :( you should be on the next phase and DEMO should say OK (as in completed and passed). I'm not sure what happened there but you will not be able to proceed not unless there's an OK sign on DEMO :(

The first one was with Francis, was tagged retake coz there was some noise (someone asked me if I started already) and also I was not so prepared after waiting for almost 3 hrs Huhu..so then I retook the demo and it was Anna, she said ,"so far the demo was good, Iyou are very familiar with the class flow and you also use the chatbox....blah...blah", for now I will put you on scoring status for the other admins to check the demo just wait for 24-48 hrs if you see passed you can continue to account info r if you see failed you can reapply after 6months", when I checked it says retake demo again so today I took demo for the 3rd time, and it was Francis again. I wasn't able to go ahead with the class we were just on the intro until phrases...though I was able to follow the class flow with the chatbox but I was just not so happy coz I tried to be prepared and practice but wasn't able to continue, and was wondering if that part could passed since he just cut me off and said that was okay teacher, I will refer this demo to my supervisor I will put you on scoring status. Then he said I can see here you were on scoring I hope you can pass this time", (sighed) I just hope I could make it, I really need to get this.

Would the admin/evaluator po be giving you enough time po ba to search for the word in the dictionary or would they be sort of impatient po? It's not a silly question. Think of it this way, they don't care how you get the answers as long as you give it in a few seconds like 5-10 seconds.
More than 10 seconds would be a red flag because we do not want to keep our students waiting. this is why you must have a reliable internet connection and a reliable device so you can multi-task well.
