      Correction - seeing how much work is not being done indicates no-one is in a hurry to do anything. It's what happens when the unfortunate party paying for all of this has zero ability to influence speed of operation.

      @johnshinn: right you are!!! The foredeck has several HUGE SLABS, some even are being used as a working platform for Resolve’s equipment and tools!! I wonder if those enormous SLABS will stay on the ship and make the trip to Norfolk for final removal?

      @@samuelcollins1331 They're equipped to remove concrete so why not complete the job? It's surely gonna take a long while though, too long for Captain Andy to keep traveling between Home and Baltimore. However you may be correct in that they wanted to just get the precariouly dangerous lookin part off the Dali so it could make the trip.

      @@JohnShinn1960 I don’t know, John. This debris removal looks a bit time consuming, expensive and brutally tedious. Plus the ship is tying up a cargo container off loading facility. Maybe better to just “secure” the larger debris and leave it on the ship until it sails to a more appropriate location in Tidewater, Va. I fear we will never know unless Andy is there to record whatever they decide to do.

      Imagine for one moment you had to extract a bus that plowed into your house overnight, but you also had gas lines, water lines, electrical lines, etc. you didn't want to cook off and unalive everyone in said house. That is a bit of what the salvage crew is engaged with here. They're not in the way of other ships. There is no time pressure to keep everyone safe and to keep the fatality count to six souls, so they will take their time and get everyone home safely every damn day. Safety first. If someone's cargo sits a few more weeks, no one will die as a result, but rushing moving multi-ton debris can easily end up with people in the hospital. So they are working the many complex, puzzle piece demolition problems as quickly as safety rules and regulations permit.

    • @craig7350
      @craig7350 12 дней назад

      @@OfficiallyUnofficialAlCooper I worked in heavy industry for years, both in demolition, and construction. This is the most anemic site I've seen. And your house analogy... shut the gas, water and electricity off.. 20 minutes. That site is large enough you could approach it from many sides without interfering with each other. And it does effect people waiting for their goods. Bushiness's going bankrupt, lots of distress. Likely its the insurance company that is holding this up, because of the expense of a more multi-faceted approach.

    • @OfficiallyUnofficialAlCooper
      @OfficiallyUnofficialAlCooper 12 дней назад +1

      @@craig7350 You have the far superior knowledge on demolition and construction. I've only ever been a weekend handyman, so I respect your much more accurate assessment of the Dali deck and hull cleanup. My suspicion is the owners of the Dali want it made safe to sail to Norfolk for more extensive repairs, and they're paying for the smallest, least expensive crew possible to remove the rest of the bridge supports and twisted shipping containers. I think Dr. Sal on What's Going on with Shipping had some videos talking about legal declarations the Dali's owners made right after the accident to reduce their financial exposure for the delayed and destroyed cargo containers. But I'm not a former merchant marine or attorney, and I suspect others on the channel can better fill in those gaps of information. Be safe out there, and here's to the salvage crew safely getting the Dali fully cleared of debris and seaworthy to sail down to Norfolk.
