  • The black-and-white ruffed lemur can only be found in the rainforest on the east coast of Madagascar. Their name comes from the distinctive white "ruff" around their necks and are known for their bright yellow eyes. They have the second loudest call of all primates after the howler monkey. These lemurs are an arboreal species meaning they spend the majority of their lives in trees. Black-and-white ruffed lemurs are classified as critically endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. They live an average of 19 years in the wild.
