Hi Mark love this album Pot luck true cool songs my friend put down one of my favorite Elvis albums keep up cool video so nice to see you back. Mark love to your family long live Elvis
Hey Mark! Glad to see you back on here brother! Awesome take and review on this great album. I definitely agree during the early 60’s, this is one of great albums right after “Elvis is Back!” 😁👍🏻👍🏻 Great stuff all around 😎 Hope you have a great day and week brother TCB ⚡️⚡️😎
I've always enjoyed this album, Mark. I wish they'd have released and promoted 'Suspicion' as a single instead of waiting two years after Stafford covered it for a big hit.
Hi Mark, so great to see you back buddy! Great video, buddy. Totally agree with you, the 'trinity' of non-Soundtrack albums from this era, are all brilliant!! (and so are the Outakes from the Sessions!). 🤗☝️👍
Hi Mark Glad your back:) This is also one of my favorite Elvis albums too. His voice is terrific on this album. I collect cds and have the US, German, UK., Japanese, Australian cds and love them all:) Have a great day and thanks for this great video Tcb Bill
Thanks Bill- I appreciate you watching! 😄👍🏻 I was actually a but of a late bloomer on this album. My one trip to Graceland back in Summer of 2001, I bought the cd of this wonderful album at one of the many Elvis shops in Memphis, and surprisingly listened to it on the plane ride home for the first time! 😳 I loved it immensely! Have a great day too my friend!
Great to see you back Mark and I totally agree with you: Pot Luck is definitely a great album and in quality very close to Elvis Is Back. I personally would have a hard time choosing between Something For Everybody (1961) and Pot Luck (1962) but the songs are so well crafted. Gorgeous. I believe your inner sleeve is the right one for early pressings. My Pot Lucks (both LPM and LSP) as well as both copies of Girls Girls Girls came with this inner sleeve. The next sleeve is the turquoise Catalog inner sleeve that came with Fun In Acapulco and Gold Records Volume 3 and Kissin Cousins.
Looking Well Mark 👍 Yes a great album ....i have this US 🇺🇸 pressing also .... Suspicion is by far my favourite track on this album ... Although many other great cuts here 🎙 They should have released Suspicion to Coincide with the albums release 😊 ....and not at the later date that they eventually did ! ....But that would have been far to simple! Look forward to more videos.. Cheers 🎙🎶🥂
Thank you Paul! I think the Colonel made several odd decisions with Elvis’ catalog. He made it more glaring with not allowing him to tour internationally. What a wasted opportunity! This would have exposed the Colonel, and he wouldn’t have that. Thanks for watching! 👍🏻
@markselvisforeveryonechann1153 Parker made more than one or two odd decisions 🤡😡 .... I read somewhere recently that Elvis was against having ....Stuck On You as his first single release when he came back in 1960 !! Elvis wanted a more dynamic/ Powerfull first single ! But Parker and RCA over ruled him 🙄 Always makes me wonder if Elvis really had much impact on his own music been released! He obviously didn't as some of the single releases through out his career were odd and very weak to say the least 🎙🎶🥂
Hello, Mark. That cover is actually the very first edition as there is no catalog number (LPM/LSP-2523) on the back side to the upper right corner. That information was entered on slightly later copies. Also, that IS a First Pressing!
Pot Luck, along with Elvis is Back and Something for Everybody represent a very specific period in his career and these 3 albums are unlike any of his other albums. John Lennon said "Elvis died when he went into the Army" by which he was saying his music was never the same afterwards. Obviously he was not a big fan of Elvis' post army output. But his point is true in the respect that Elvis' music was never the same, he was no longer the young rebel who was bringing change because the change had happened, it was dramatic and Elvis spearheaded it. I think, and I could be wrong that these albums represented the singer Elvis wanted to be, where he could really demonstrate the range he had and his for ballad singing. By the time '68 rolled around music had once again experienced dramatic changes and while his music didn't "fit in" with the new scene he did release albums which showed his growth and found their own place. As time went he would have benefitted from having more songwriters to choose from. I can imagine a world where people like Springsteen, Billy Joel and whole slew of other people would have loved to have written good songs specifically for him. These people were heavily influenced by him and would have been honored to have Elvis record songs that were written for him. It was shortsightedness on the part of Tom Parker and possibly lack of motivation on Elvis' part by the mid 70s.
Very well written Thomas. You hit on several good points here. Those 3 early albums I believe represented the music Elvis wanted to make, thus, the amazing qualities of each of these releases. I really enjoy his movie soundtracks but I love his studio albums. I think a lot of his later 60s soundtracks were rushed and the best care wasn’t made to make them sound as good as they could have. Thanks for watching and your thoughts on these fantastic releases! 👍🏻
One of my favorite Elvis albums!
Yep- me too! Love it! 👍🏻
so nice to see you back. Mark 😊
Thanks Steve! I really appreciate it! 👍🏻
Great video Mark, thank you. I always say that Elvis’ voice 1960-63 was like velvet 👌⚡️TCE⚡️

Thanks so much! Something For Everybody is epic too! A real shame Elvis didn’t record more studio albums. 👍🏻
Let’s not get too carried away, Pot Luck is nowhere near as good as Elvis Is Back!!! 😊
Very nice to have you back Mark, looking forward to more reviews

Thanks Gary-I really appreciate that! 👍🏻
Good to see you back Mark. Great Album but not keen on Elvis' hair on the cover. Always loved Gonna Get Back Home Somehow.
Thanks so much! I’ve thought the same. His hair was definitely, different. 👍🏻
Follow That Dream hair. 😊

Nice! Thanks for the great information! 👍🏻
Welcome back, it is good to get medical treatment behind you! Great album, deserves to be better known.
Thanks my friend! I agree. I’ve always felt this album didn’t get the love it rightfully deserved. 👍🏻
