*"...the good nature of this face...."* Looks can be deceiving. One of Jimmy's biographers reports: _"An ex-fruit picker, Outler couldn't adjust to the two-bit glamour and back room temptations. He kept getting in trouble over women, and in 1967 was accidentally killed in a fight."_

@@IsaacNussbaum Were you there when he was killed? Was his biographer there? Was his biographer there in the back rooms? Who likes judging how it really was? That a poor boy in the city cannot resist one or the other seduction is understandable. The intimate expression with which he sings this song, the lanky figure, the shy movements of his arms, the incredibly beautiful voice and masterful mastery of it ... something like that does not come from nothing, in my eyes there is a mature soul behind it.

Jimmy Outler was picked by Sam Cooke personally to replace him in the Stirrers. Jimmy could and should have had a huge career in both Gospel and Soul but, tragically, his lifestyle led him to an early demise. What he left us, how little it may be, is a snapshot of a huge talent unfulfilled.
