This video shows the thread going behind the bottom thread guide. However, my manual for the B42 says "make sure the thread is in front of the thread guide located on the bottom of Needle holder for Coverstitch" and clearly shows the thread in front. Which is correct?
Dear Barbara Roshaven, Thanks for your inquiry and for checking our documentation so detailed. The threading video shows needles threading needle bar at 2:15 (blue), 2:47 (green) and 3:15 (yellow). And threading behind that bar at the needle holder is correct. As you mentioned, in the b42 manual, on page 15, the threads lie in front of that thread guide. If you like to follow the manual, that is fine. However, if you like to follow the video instructions, let me assure you that you will not experience any negative impact on the stitch and its quality of settings. But I must admit, you detected a mistake in our video instructions, differing from the original in the manual.
In the manual B48, when threading the 3 coverstitch needles, it says the middle thread should go in front of the final thread guide, whereas the others go behind. Is this correct as the video seems to show that all 3 go behind the guide ?
Dear @lesliefatout4731 Thanks for your inquiry. The first guide after the tension is to be threaded from right to left, the second one from front to back, that is shown at time code 1:01. There is no other threading possible for these two purple guides. The third guide is threaded from top right to left, the fourth from bottom right to left. The wire with its spring inside is threaded from right to left. This is all a bit tricky to show, as the inside is quite tight. But we trust that together with the threading diagram and the instruction manual, you will manage correct threading. And never forget, practice makes perfect. With this we wish you many hours of pleasurable sewing with your bernette 48/42. Kind regards
Hi PB, in this video tutorial, we show you the first steps: ruclips.net/video/MRSD05-MTrw/видео.html& This basic information will help you get to know your overlocker and prepare for your first sewing project.
Hi Eliza. thanks for your inquiry. You may use the same video instructions if you like to sew a coverstitch with 3 threads only, just take the needle out that will not be in use: You can sew 3-thread coverstitch as follows: stitch 22, 3-thread coverstitch wide (5.6mm), left and right needle or stitch 23, 3-thread coverstitch narow (2.8mm), left and center needle. If you have a b48, find details of the stitches in the manual on page 20. If you have a b42, find details on page 14. If your inquiry was about showing you a picture / sewing of the 3-thread/2 needle coverstitch, please also refer to the bernette yellow shirt project video where we used a narrow coverstitch for the neck hem: ruclips.net/video/CLYu9s7Z_JI/видео.html Have fun with your funlock!
For a start, the video is called "b48 + b44 tutorial" it is however b42 tutorial. That is fine by me because that is what I have got - a b42. Unfortunately, the video is not very clear, a lot of the time the instructor's hands are in the way which makes it difficult to see what All in all, I have to say, in comparison to threading this machine, threading my overlocker seems very easy. More and better instructional videos would be welcomed.
The video title is "b48 + b42 Tutorial - Coverstitch/chainstitch" which means that the instructions are valid for both machines (b48 and b42). In the video, it is shown on the basis of the b42. It is not always easy to get everything clearly visible in the camera image. But we will make sure to do it better in the future. You're welcome 😊

You are right, all three coverstitch needle threads go behind the last thread guide before the needle eye.
@@Mybernette Thank you. xx
The video does not show clearly for the chain looper thread how to thread the second guide after the tension discs. Please provide more detail.

Thank you. That threading detail is very helpful!
Is there a tutorial on how to first set this machine up?

Thanks a lot!
It will be usefull If you can show us a coverstitch with 3 wires.
