I do love this machine. But like with all new machines, you have to “play” with it to understand the different stitch mechanism settings. The overlock has different mechanism adjustments and threading than the coverhem and chain. The manual is not intuitive, though in depth. The illustrations are almost too small or detailed to be legible. To me, manual needs to read and illustrate for each stitch separately. Even if to say refer to page ? for further settings. It also needs a glossary of words. It would do best to sew each type of stitch yourself, making your own notes. But all in all, it stitches like a dream.
Dear lin but, thanks for your feedback. We will take your comments on the manual and see what can be done in future. Sure it is a good idea to make samples of all stitches and may be label them with your personal settings for the thread-fabric combination used. Unlike a sewing machine, the overlockers have “only” up to 30 stitches, so your sample book will not take an eternity. On the other hand, you could just keep the sewing test samples of your projects and start with them for your personal library. And as with all new gadgets, practice makes perfect. We wish you fun sewing with your b40 FUNLOCK!
These videos are not helpful, guys. I need someone vocally telling me what I'm looking for and looking at. Pointing near 3 different stitches does nothing for me.
Hello Ally Taylor, thank you for your comment. The bernette tutorials do not contain any spoken language because these videos are for different markets/languages. For this reason we use the subtitle function in RUclips. For further information please activate the CC icon on the bottom right of the video. Different languages can be selected via the setting icon. If you are interested in the machine, please visit your dealer, they will happy to help you: www.bernette.com/dealersearch
Some commentary or instruction to what is actually happening/what to look out for stitch-wise, would be helpful. Too much room for interpretation in these “silent movie” style instruction videos.

Please activate the subtitles in the video settings at the bottom right. There you can also change the language.
@@Mybernette Thank you, that makes a big difference. I didn’t understand what was happening without the subtitles.
