  • Learn how to make a handy tool for fast, easy installation of Sonnax RFE accumulator pistons. These popular parts feature a dual-seal design for exceptional sealing and improved durability, which is great for keeping the comebacks away, but does make them a little more tedious to install. To solve this problem, Sonnax recommends making a handy tool from a cut-off section of an RFE valve body to quickly align the pistons, size the seals and then install them. I bought these pistons for my 545rfe when I rebuilt it. I did have a little trouble getting them in but this would've made it a lot easier. I will do it on my next one.

@@jaredmayer3960 the 68rfe behind the Cummins maybe but the 545 behind a gas engine I would disagree.

What a non essential tool to buy. I've built several dozens of these units. I've always used rubber rings on the bottom groove. Never had a sealing or scuffing problem using these rings. I'll spend that money on a stake dinner.
