The Final Closedown/Shutdown of Smile TV (Smile of a Child) (WBUY-TV)

On December 17, 2024, it was announced that Smile will cease broadcasting on January 12, 2025. Many of its programming will move to Yippee TV, under the live feed on TBN+ and the standalone streaming service. Following its closure, many of its TBN-owned stations that formally broadcast Smile on the .4 subchannel substituted it with Cannella Media's OnTV4U infomercial channel.

It's weird how this ends. TBN sold Smile's subchannel space off for an infomercial channel? Something isn't adding up here. TBN doesn't air advertising or sponsored programming of any kind. I'm not sure how TBN's licenses are seen from a legal FCC standpoint as they are not a public television station in that they don't receive government grants, but they aren't necessarily "commercial" either in that they only accept funding through private donations, much like a TV "church." I know TBN is considered a non-profit organization for tax purposes, much like a church or other religious organization, but that's not necessarily the FCC's jurisdiction.
All I'm saying is, it is weird that a TBN channel would go to infomercials. Unless this seen here was Smile carried on what is nominally a commercial television station's subchannel in an agreement with TBN.
