So much yes! My parents charged me rent the small amount of time I needed to go back home to save up for my new place and I eventually left before I was ready because it cost me more money to stay with them 😭 Going to help my kids out so much more so they can thrive in life.

I became debt free in February of this year and oh my lord I learned a lot about discipline. My struggle was having to cut back on lifestyle choices as far as my spending habits. However those sacrifices has really helped me learn to save and not live beyond my means. Congrats on being debt free I know that feeling of that weight being lifted off your shoulders. I had to take $7500 in loans this year and literally cried signing the promissory note because it’s something I never wanted to do. This gave me faith that I will find a way through my last year and clearing my loans.
Your masters degree will improve your quality of life/income and the amount of opportunities/networking available to you will be worth every penny. Loans suck but you will pay those off easily once your program is over! They aren’t always a negative thing 🙏🏽

Wow. This made me tear up. Especially from the joy you felt when you told your lovely parents. I watch the Dave Ramsey Show and I always tear up when they scream their debt free screams. I graduated with my Masters degree 6 years ago with over $45,000 in student loans and have only $24,000 left to pay. I will make a video as well once I am debt free. I paid off that much because I worked extra jobs just to get over the debt.

I really, really enjoy your videos. I am a 54 year old that has squandered her entire life. But while everyone else cried about COVID 19 shut downs - I cried a little, too- I receive a divine reset. I now live more intentionally and have set a goal saving $500K by the time I retire at 72. More importantly, I want to find a way to give back to the community. You are my inspiration.

These tips are so smart and I wish I would have really made smarter money decisions after school. I wanted the dream of not going back to mom and dads, get a car, and I feel im drowning in debt. Working hard to be debt free within the next 2 years.
My mom went to Howard and now I wish I had too. Student loans are a scam though. I graduated over a decade ago and still haven't paid anything toward them. Instead, I moved abroad and now I speak several more languages and have so much more life experience, so no regrets! The only snag was getting sick and not being able to continue working. Didn't plan on that!

Congratulations. Have to pay down the principal in addition to the regular payment. Especially important with any mortgage payment. Make regular payments, then additional principle payments. Saves so much interest.
This is amazing ! I have about 32k in student loans as well, but it seems like I will never get it paid off. It's been in deferment for almost 10 years. Will definitely look into forgiveness programs and be more aggressive about paying them down
