I sincerely enjoyed this interview with our late Honorable Prime Minister, Mr. Edward Philip George Seaga. I have personal gratitude for Mr. Seaga because I was one of the first recipient of the H.E.A.R.T employment program which he implemented in 1982. I graduated Secondary School that same year and as a result of this Program, I immediately got my first paying job working for a construction company in Spanish Town as an accounting clerk. That seminal job provided me a lot of valuable business experience, knowledge and confidence which is the foundation of my financial comfort today. In my humble opinion, Mr. Seaga has contributed more to the development of Jamaica than any other Politician. May he deservingly Rest In Peace!

If Seaga was given more political latitude Jamaica would have been a developed country at this point...the country was growing at 6-12% gdp during his reign. However we allowed skin color to detract us from progress...Jamaica lost a brilliant mind and a man that could have made an even bigger contribution to our country.

RIP The Rt Hon Edward Seaga, no politician are saints, whatever fault other said you have(and you might have, I was not in your inner circle) I can only speak of what i can see outwardly what you had done, but you Mr Seaga has not done anything worse than who were before you, or after you. Mr Seaga took a country that was pretty much bewildered about putting basic food on the table because they were no where to be found, and let me go back in the store and get items that I took for granted. The Jamaican dollars worth something back then, he was a excellent Min of Finance, he open free zones that women and men could find a place to earn a living. And so many things that he put Jamaica on the world map for, but a lot of people choose to forget all the positives. The last politician that was in my civics book when I was going to school. The last of one of the framers of pre and post Independence. Baby Grange I know you are older than me, because I had a class with you, teaching young teenagers how to dress and carry themselves but you still looking good. RIP Mr. Eddie you were born in the states and you could have chosen to go back and make a life there but you chose to be a public servant in Jamaica. Thank you sir.

IT DEFINITELY FEELS LIKE A LOSS.
IT TRULY FEELS LIKE JAMAICA HAS LOST ITS MAIN BODY GUARD..
    I FEEL SCARED NOW REALLY.
IT FEELS AS IF THERES NO ONE HERE TO FIGHT FOR OUR IDENTITY AND OUR RESPECT AND IMAGE.
HE TOOK OVER FROM BUSTAMANTE, AND HE DID A GREAT JOB..
HE CARRIED THE BATTLE FOWARD, AND DESPITE HIS LIMITED SUCCESS AS PRIME MINISTER, BUSTA WUD BE PROUD OF HOW HE CARRIED ON AFTER HIM..
THE 1980 ELECTION HAS AFFECTED HIS CAREER, BUT, YOU CAN SEE CLEARLY HIS PASSION HIS WORK AND HIS DEDICATION IN THE WORK HE DID AFTER LOSING THE REIGNS.
MR. PATTERSON, THROUGHOUT HIS 18 YEAR TENURE AND AFTER, HAS NO LEGACY TO REVERE OR REMEMBER.
WHAT HAS HE DONE FOR JAMAICA AFTER POLITICS??
    WAT HAS SEAGA DONE?
EVEN TILL THE DAY HES DEAD...

Ignorance is JAMAICA'S biggest downfall. They loved Manley's beautiful speaking even though he wrecked our economy. You notice that most PNP supporters vote based on family traditions and not on issues. Its only after hungry reach them in the 1970s that they decide to vote out Manley. They had no interest in economic development so they had no interest in Seaga.

Now looking back none was perfect.I can say terrible things that were attributed to both and also good things about both but I believe the lasting legacy of PM Seaga was in the area of culture and for PM Manley was in the area of Social justice. Both were very bright men.Lets put away politics and pay tribute to our now deceased PM.

Just by the nature of the comments to my earlier posts it is clear that the politicks from the 1970’s have deep and far reaching impact on much older Jamaicans and indirectly on the younger members of society. Some, many, are in support the murders and some, probably those who lost love ones, are against it. Obviously it is difficult to express your mind, especially on a controversial topic as politics without fear of retaliation, so lot of people not really saying what they truly feel. If you are one of them just leave a like and make me do the talking. If the USA left Jamaica to choose their own destiny we would be a much better, peaceful, loving, kind, independent, educated, prosperous nation. More life, I and I a Jah, Yahweh, Elohim greater than great so no bangerang can arm I.

Listen to the interview and study all that he did for Jamaica who was doing better than Singapore when he was Minister of Finanace, look at Singapore today amd look at Jamaica. Mr. Seaga was a visionary, but Jamaicans did not see the vision, they wanted a populist for their leader and they got a few, one of whom introduced the free mentality to Jamaica. The violent in Jamaican politics were on both sides, so if you want to accused one, think about the others also. Look at the party that was in control of Jamaica for over twenty four years and tell us about the progress they have made in Jamaica, under that government, we see poverty, crime, and lack of opportunity for the people of Jamaica, today we have a prime minister who is trying to make life better for the Jamaican people, and I hope this time around Jamaicans will choose pragmatism over populism.

What is the real concern? It is not where he was born, but the passion that he had about being an agent of change in a place where he was raised up and call his homeland. He may not have made the best decisions, but he certainly made a huge impact on the country.

I am no expert but it seems Seaga is alot like Dudus or other community-based crime boss. He charms and bribes at the microcosmic level and wreak havoc at the macrocosmic level. Those who are unaware of the big picture are thus deluded into viewing him as a hero or Robinhood-like figure. No. This is a common strategy of crime bosses to recruit and maintain support for their macro-criminal operations

I mean no disrespect but most of you are surely misinformed and brainwashed. Please do your research on this man you call a hero and you'll truly understand the corruption, violence and negativity he brought to Jamaica. Please, I beg of you to educate yourself and stop being so ignorant and naive. Who knows where Jamaica would have been today if this man didn't introduce corruption, violence and crime to the Jamaican culture. I completely understand that people are trying to pay their respects to the dead but the elder Jamaicans need to come forward and speak the truth about what this man has truly done to our beautiful and innocent Jamaican culture. Due to his erroneous political contributions this man has single-handedly tainted and divided Jamaica and Jamaicans. I don't care for politics!! I only care about the hearts and minds of the Jamaican people and it's about time we stand unity and not divided. This tyrant has destroyed our culture and we let him get away with it. Wake up Jamaica!
