Great stuff. There needs to be more interviews on the older generation before their knowledge dies with them. For example, I didn't know that Jamaican national music used to be known as "downtown music" until I heard Eddie speak about it. Sadly, it seems that we as a people are not as concerned with our history like the Western Europeans and North Americans.

I was young wen l came to England to join my parents at ten age but l supposed that if you grew up without knowledge of your ancestors at school in history l do remember history about the Arawaks
But it is typically why a non jamaican came to jamaica to give us sanctuary because we were not given the grandeur of being treated as human being means we had no claims to any wealth and richnessess nevertheless I can say changes may or not come
But as life goes no one is going to live for ever whether we are rich more or in-between
What Seaga is saying he is loosing memories, because the man who responsible for the Jamaican music. Long before Edward George Seaga was a little boy 👦, is Name is Vere John, he was born in Mandeville Manchester, in 1893 .He migrated to the United States in 1924 lived in New York city and, started a talented music show 👌 named the Vere John. He returned to Jamaica 🇯🇲 in 1939 long before a lot of them was born, and is claiming that they are the foundation of the music. Music was playing in Jamaica 🇯🇲 for hundreds of years, but it was mento.Then Calypso came in later,I born come see my uncle playing music and. He is older than Edward George Seaga, he plays guitar 🎸 and Banjos also a singer. I come hear Vere John talented music show, he is the one. Who discovered the Wailers, John Holt, Millie Small, Dobby Dobson, Alton Ellis, Hortense Ellis, just to named a few of the artists. He host his talented shows at several theaters 🎥 Majestic, Palace, and Ambassador in Trench Town. He useto have a show on RJR radio 📻 station in 1960s named the Vere John hour.A lot of people in Jamaica 🇯🇲 especially the majority of the younger generation does not know about Vere John. He died in 1966 the same year Haile Selassie came to Jamaica 🇯🇲, there is a lot of history. Which the majority of Jamaicans does not know about at all, one of the 1st Jamaican to be recorded in the 1950s. Was Harry Belafonte I don't know if some of them Jamaican really know who Harry Belafonte, he was born in the United States new York city of. A Jamaican mother 👩 and a Panamanian father and, came to Jamaica as a child to grow. He grew up in St,Ann where his mother 👩 is from, and moved to Kingston as a young man 👨. Where he started to do music, those days was mento ,he is the same person who sing the songs. Carry me ackees to Linstead market, and Day ho Day ho,just to give you an example. I 1st know Edward George Seaga in 1962 during the Jamaican independence August 6th. I heard that he was in the music thing managing some guys 👦, but the foundation of Jamaica 🇯🇲 music industry is. Really Vere John talented music show, who found Bob Marley and the Wailers and other great artists like John Holt 👍, Millie Small ❤. You can check out about this guy named Vere John and, you younger generation will learned a lot of information 💁♀️.

Him go back as far as mid 50s .I forgot what was its name but it was transitioned into Dynamic Sounds , then went into politics about 63-64. He was the one that statred the national heroes memorial & bought back Marcus Garveys remains to jamaica to heroes circle.
