Top10Archive The Butterfly Knife is actually called a Balisong. It's kind of a Jack of all trades knife. You can use it for combat, or just something practical, like cutting a box open. Lol, I've never even heard of that You Tuber you mentioned. Some other interesting things that were probably more worthy of mentioning, are the Igorot tribes Hanging Coffin's, the Chocolate Hills in Bohol, or the first human settlers of the islands, the Aeta Tribe. There was also the death of Spanish explorer Ferdinand Magellan, Filipino Martial Arts. Other famous Filipino's, or people that are part Filipino, Lou Diamond Philipps from the movie La Bamba, the boxer Nonito Donaire, Ernie Reyes Jr. and Mexipino Dante Basco who played Rufio in "Hook". There also that girl in the movie Ender's Game, Bruno Mars, and my favorite, the only that man was personally appointed by Bruce Lee, to teach his Martial Art Guro Daniel Inosanto. There was also middleweight champion Ceferino Garcia who was the 1st boxer to use the Bolo punch in boxing, and a tough opponent for the boxing great Henry Armstrong. That's not to exclude Cuban boxer Kid Gavilan, who made the Bolo punch even more popular. Lastly, the Filipino hero Chief Lapu Lapu, who, killed Spanish Explorer Ferdinand Magellan. I could list more, but I think that's enough.

+Heanly Hyral most of them ARE facts. another fact about the Philippines. the leader of the UN at the start of the Korean war was filipino, and the 10th bct, a filipino combat battalion, which numbered approximately 1,400 men, faced off against 40,000 Chinese troops during the battle of yultong. during that battle, the Chinese lost 14,000 men, while the filipinos lost 4. also, on the day after the battle of yultong, the British royal Gloucestershire regiment found themselves surrounded by Chinese forces. the 10th bct came withing 2km of their position, but was unable to push through, because the UN forces refused to provide a little extra support. the 10th bct became known as the "Fighting Filipinos" and general macarthur said of them "Give me 10,000 Filipinos, and I shall conquer the world" which is a huge testament to the skills and tenacity of the filipino soldier, especially considering the fact that they fought the battle of yultong in sub zero temperatures with no winter clothing and bazookas that didn't work.

xarchanx Well, look at my comment above yours. I named even more facts, and could have easily named a few more. I'm a Filipino American, born at a time in the U.S., where people were discouraged to teach their children to be bilingual. This made me very Americanized, so Filipino's from my age group made fun of me for liking rock music, and hanging out with a multi-cultural group of friends. So if I wasn't able to speak my parents dialects (Tagalog and Bicolano), I was going to know more about Filipino history. So for a period of time, I read every book that was about Philippine history in my family small library/office. The pre-colonial time period fascinated me the most.

You are apparently missing the context here. Reread and see if it is really offending. Its not even a bad thing or a racist comment he was saying. IT WAS A FACT ABOUT RESTAURANT. Reread please, so you won't embarass yourself here.

***** the most corrupted nation in Asia? Really? What about north Korea,India, Cambodia, Pakistan, Mongolia, Burma, Afghanistan, China, Indonesia and Bangladesh? Every one of the counties I've just mentioned has widespread corruption as well, and some of those countries even violate their peoples basic human rights and the Geneva convention, such as north Korea and, I think, Cambodia during the khmer rouge massacre some 30-40 years ago. Burma still does this as well, and both north Korea and Burma actively persecute Christians and people of other faiths, just because of their beliefs. China also does this. Learn your history before making erroneous and biased xenophobic allegations, ok?

***** I get what you're saying, but christ was crucified by what was then the richest and most powerful nation on earth, so money wouldn't have been an issue. Also, Romans kept slaves so all they had to do was instruct a slave to cut down a tree. The result... Free wood!!! Also, you have to take into account the symbolic nature of the crucifix, which was a symbol of death, and then became a symbol of new life after Christ's death and resurrection

Philippines is the second largest English speaking country in the world next to USA. WE have 7,100 islands, speaks over 100 dialects. A Filipino invented the fluorescent lamp, Filipino engineer invented the rover on the moon, John Schneider (actor), Enrique Iglesias (singer), Lou Diamond Phillips (actor), Sheryl Burke (dancer), Ted Bruski (football player) all half Filipinos.

The Yoyoy was invented by a FIlipino, so we're the back up alarms on motor vehicles that
we're popular in the late 1970's that had different sounds such as chirping birds, dog barks,
Roars of lions, tigers, and even sounds from other farm & wild animals.

Naughty Ballz it can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you look at it. Filipinos speak at least 2-3 languages and even 4-5 languages. It's a good thing....... it brought money and help the economy of the Philippines, such as... South Koreans and other Asians go to the Philippines to study and learn English because it's cheaper than going to the states. A lot of Foreign Companies go to the Philippines for call centers because of Filipinos ability to speak English. A lot of Filipinos are being hired by other countries...nurses, doctors, engineers, seamen, domestic helpers, skilled workers etc. because we can speak the English language. Over 12,000,000 Filipinos are working outside the Philippines because not only skilled and experience but able to speak the language. Because of that, over 25 billion dollars are being sent to the Philippines and that helps the economy of the country. Philippines is now considered one of the fastest growing economy in Asia. I don't really see a negative effect of the country of speaking English. The different dialects/languages that are spoken in the Philippines will never go away because the dialect in each province in the Philippines is always be their first dialect/language to learn. English will only be learn in the school.

How to get the attention of Filipinos in another country:
    1. Yell "MAY FOREVER" and then if someone shouts back WALANG FOREVER then he/she is a Pinoy or shout WALANG FOREVER to get MAY FOREVER response. (Walang Forever=There's no forever/Forever doesn't exist. May Forever=There is Forever/Forever Exist.
    2. Yell PAK GANERN (literally means Pak Like That. Pak is just a sound effect just like BOOM)
Be careful not to get caught by roaming officers for yelling in crowded places 😂

Kevin DC Marikina is a city near-ish to the capital, Manila, so other than the traffic, it shouldn't be too hard to get to! Make sure you buy shoes made by SM or by designer makers because sometimes if you are not careful, badly made shoes there have a tendency to have entire soles come off. (I've experienced this a few times.) Take my advice and buy shoes in stores and not in the palenqke (outdoor/public market) if you want them to last longer!

Good for you Antonio Montana, I'm a widower, 61 that was married 31 years to a wonderful Filipina
woman from Cavite City. Within the next 3 years, I'm planning on returning to the Philippines to live
out my life there as my heart is in the Philippines. I'm of Irish-Norwegion ancestery, and I will only
date Filipina women. Filipina women are more mature than their white American counter parts, are
much better dates, and they are far more appreciative.

Teachers in Philippines teach children to master English in a very young age. They teach advanced English from 5th grade and until collage. Not like in other countries they encourage children to master their own language instead of English. Some student in other countries have high English skills but filipinos have better grammar and better pronounciation than other countries in Asia.
