Just baste it with butter, squeeze a few lemons over it, rub it with paprika and garlic, add a few bay leaves, pour some Kansas city rib sauce, preheat the oven to 350, put the glove in for an hour and a half should come out super tender and fall right off the webbing.
I understand why ovens or microwaves are really bad, but what about leaving a glove in a hot car? I've always done this with my gloves and it's worked great. I oil and wrap the glove with a rubber band and a ball in the pocket, then leave it in the car for a few days. Afterwards, the leather is always soft and the pocket formed nicely around the ball. Then a little hard breaking in and catch and it's ready to go.
I read 35 years ago to put a ball in it, tie, it and soak it in water overnight. Then put neatsfoot oil on it. My A2000 was broken in perfectly and still is in good shape, although I'm not sure I would do it like that again.
once you're done the break in process try out saddle soap on your glove to keep it nice and healthy. Not sure if this is text book correct but my glove feels pretty amazing after a good saddle soaping
I believe they sell the laces online if you want to do it yourself, but I've had friends who emailed the company and told them to send it in and they fixed it.
I got a new glove for christmas and my friends dad broke it in for cheap. He's made a buisness out of it. Mine feels awesome, he broke it in the old fashion way by playing catch and working it in with his hands. always looking for more gloves to break in.
I would never let someone else put their hand in my glove, it molds to your hand and stretches, especially if his hand is bigger than the person he's breaking it in for
If u are gonna use oil use a hair dryer to warm up the glove open the pores up in the leather and then apply the oil. Really absorbs in and then beat it up tie it up etc
As a kid I would lather it with cooking oil, toss in the oven for 5minutes with a ball and belt. I forget the temp I put. Maybe around 150f. It worked fantastic! lol I wish I never lost that glove =/
When I was a kid a few centuries ago, all the guys would use Crisco. Rub it in and do this a few times. After a while it was like wearing a condom and no mess when I took it off.
+Kaptainkluck 2 I like to use a webgem when I am breaking my gloves because the leather is realy stiff so it form a great shape, its gonna take longer to shape a glove with the webgem if the leather is realy soft or used.
I have been coaching youth baseball on and off thru children and grandchildren since 1985. I have broken in many gloves for my players using Neatsfoot oil and the microwave. It works fine and fast. Just soak the glove in oil, microwave 1 minute, resoak and microwave 1 more minute. Wipe the excess oil off and you are ready to go.
***** I see your point and acknowledge it in theory. However, in actual reality, not theory, I have been doing it satisfactorily for many years. The glove I am using to coach my grandson's tball team was put in my microwave the day I bought it, 8 or 9 years ago, and it is still soft and pliable. I think the fact that I only microwave it for a maximum of 2 minutes total limits the amount of damage done.
I hear ya, but I will say the last glove we baked DID break a lace recently and had to be redone. Perhaps it would have happened anyway, but it broke INSIDE the glove, reinforcing this guy's point. Interesting, but anecdotal evidence.
+Ben Weiss I've done that oven treatment on my glove and I've had it for 4 years and it works perfectly fine and its in very good shape so you're wrong about it lasting 1 season...
I used hot glove (I think thats what its called) and baked it according to the directions, but ended up with a burned up logo and dried up laces on the inside. I had to spend $75 on relacing it, because the laces inside became brittle and broke. I'll never use that stuff again. (Yeah, I know it was stupid.) : )
my friends glove is really brocken in and the way he did it was put a ball in the glove put a rubber band around it wrapped it in 2 towels tightly and then had his dad run it over in his car. it worked but does it do harm 2 ur glove?
The worst is when ballplayers want to return a glove that they put in the oven to break it in. Don't put your glove in the oven, it will ruin the glove.
who he held put there glove in the oven just Stupid. Who oils a new glove stupid again it's already oiled. Step one get a pal run hot water from your bath tub. Put your glove in the pal. Gloves have oil so you may have to repeat this with hot water for a few days so the leather is really wet. Doesn't have to be hot all the time just leave it in the water. take it out let it drain. Now take a large ball and start forming your pocket. You want the ball to hit the figure next to the wed or patch. Stretch out all three fingers to form the pocket. Stretch this as many times as you like. All gloves can be different, spend some extra cash and get a good one. If you buy cheap you will buy again next year. Another trick is take clamps and bend the tips of the three finger over and clamp. The reason for that is so a spinning ball will stay in your pocket. Also clamp the palm of your glove so it will open and close nicely. You now have to let the leather dry, yes tie a ball in it. Dry at room temperature, may take a day or so. keep taking the ball out and foam the pocket and bend the three fingers over, put the ball back and let the leather dry slowly. The only reason I spent the time writing this is some ass hole said put it the oven and you can re string it ( stupid ). Hundred years ago ?? Cowboys would buy new boots put them on and stand in a creek till the leather was wet then jump on there horse and ride into the sunset. Two days later they fit like glove. After you have done all this work on your glove, she is your baby and ready to break some batters hearts. No you don't need to oil the glove after this is done but look at in in the fall. When you do oil be sure to oil the strings. Have a great ball season
+Pat Stevens what advice would you have for my son who happens to be 8yrs old? He left his glove outside last night during a thunderstorm. I panicked when I saw it so I brought it inside wrapped it in a dry towel with a ball inside. Did I mess it up? It's still wrapped as I write this, believe me he learned a lesson on responsibility,in more ways than one if you get my drift...lol.. Anyway, any advice would greatly be appreciated!!
This is nonsense, I used hot glove for my older boys glove in 2005 and my now nine year old has used those same gloves in 2015, 2016 & 2017. typical old school bs, to set in their old ways to move forward. The laces will keep for the playing life off your kid.
"set in their old ways to move forward"....what??? That makes a lot of sense! And what the heck does this RAWLINGS guy know about gloves anyway, right??? Okay look, it is a bad idea to put your brand spankin' new glove in the oven if you are someone who has to watch a RUclips video to learn how to break in a new glove. For a newbie, that could be devastating. For someone who's broken a few, or someone who's extra careful and understands what dry heat could potentially do to leather, fine, great that it works for you. But like I said, for someone who has to watch a video on how to break in glove, the oven is definitely not the ideal way to go.
I always use glove heat. Especially on catchers gloves. Never an issue. Glove heat. Clean. Condition. Oil. It’s better the soaking it in water. That would cause the laces to dry out.
Just baste it with butter, squeeze a few lemons over it, rub it with paprika and garlic, add a few bay leaves, pour some Kansas city rib sauce, preheat the oven to 350, put the glove in for an hour and a half should come out super tender and fall right off the webbing.

your intro looks like something you would see in 1990's cable access.

This was really helpful!! Thanks for sharing👍🌻

oh ask him about it at gamedaygloves@gmail.com

I take my gloves to work. Beat them up when I get made. They get broken in in two shifts.
This is hilarious. Basically telling you forget all the "Wives tales" and JUST USE THE DAMN GLOVE TO BREAK IT IN! LOL
what batting cages would even allow you to try that?
Hi guys, great video, do you mind if I add your video to our website since we have our new brand of super nice ball gloves.
is beating it with a bat the same as this?
I don't think this guy ever tried to break in a Nokona glove. Those things are near impossible to break in.
wrap in a towel to prevent rubber band marks ? WTF, it's a leather baseball glove not a prom dress.
nice vid!! by the way iam going to cal ripken on friday! cant wait
When I was a kid a few centuries ago, all the guys would use Crisco. Rub it in and do this a few times. After a while it was like wearing a condom and no mess when I took it off.
Go play catch in a swimming pool with it works wonders did it as a kid great pocket formation just oil lightly after drying
Also is the true glove guru
Aso*

Dat intro doe
Where can i get the glove you guys have in your hand?
@ItalianStallion220 Its not bad as long as you dont put it in there for too long.
The best way is to have catch and use a webgem to shape it simple
A WebGem shapes the glove, It doesnt break It in
+BYPBTMS37 I know but to keep its shape as you break it in
+Kaptainkluck 2 I like to use a webgem when I am breaking my gloves because the leather is realy stiff so it form a great shape, its gonna take longer to shape a glove with the webgem if the leather is realy soft or used.
bend the thumb and pinky out often

It'll only last maybe a season. At the best.
+Ben Weiss I've done that oven treatment on my glove and I've had it for 4 years and it works perfectly fine and its in very good shape so you're wrong about it lasting 1 season...
+Ben Weiss I see señor glove expert replying to every possible comment
1:10 Denny Whitehead or Denny Whiteside?
I just got a nike pro seige 2 now breaking it in
I used hot glove (I think thats what its called) and baked it according to the directions, but ended up with a burned up logo and dried up laces on the inside. There's a warranty with it -_-
Only if you bake it too long. I recommend a microwave. Just make it warm and don't be an idiot and cook it until it's 500 degrees like you did.
+Im Purps thy would laugh at you
+Noodle your a freaking idiot
my friends glove is really brocken in and the way he did it was put a ball in the glove put a rubber band around it wrapped it in 2 towels tightly and then had his dad run it over in his car. it worked but does it do harm 2 ur glove?
you were the first one to comment on this video
What about the hot water treatment?
Works
you got it
can u flip it inside out
No nuking!
Use a sock or a belt to tie the glove up
@onehitwinsit08 r u sure? also would 30 seconds be fine
No, Aso is the glove guru!
Who wastes money at the batting age to catch balls?
catchers wanting to break in their gloves :)
YES
bigturk fred people with 2 kids should make one a pitcher and the other a cather so they can practice as much as they want
daryl dixon touche that's makes sense... But kids are expensive lol
true ,yeah I will pay 10 dollars for the batting cage lol (im only 14 so I got a while)
WHO THE FUCK HAS TO TELL SOMEONE NOT TO PUT LEATHER IN AN OVEN?!?
Their are people who will try anything, They are told that Works etc, You think.?
Lol nothing better than being a catcher that works at a batting cage. (Free batting cages)
Nails on a chalk board voice!
you gotta put the oil on the outside of the glove
@ClubHouseGas would putting your glove in
The glove steamer be bad for it
That shirt is really getting broken in...
The worst is when ballplayers want to return a glove that they put in the oven to break it in. Don't put your glove in the oven, it will ruin the glove.
Or just don't be cheap and buy a web gem mold
That shapes the glove, it doesnt break it in
+Zigor Campos but it helps it keep form while your breaking it in
Sarcasm?
doesnt work dehydrates the leather
What store is this?????????
pound the wrinkle until it stops forming
never get them to condition and heat it !! my mizuno pro LE went to shit after the first season!
First problem with the glove: its not a wilson
I know how to break in my glove, I just need some tips.
Yea Im sure you do.
Why do you have to tell people not to put their baseball glove in an oven. AN OVEN.
yep my husband just ruined my sons glove by over cooking it. Glove is now melted. Out $30
$30? That could be the reason
Josh Tyndall Pleather glove? Plastic Leather...
With a beer belly like that you look more like a beer Guru. I'd watch that video also.
@ItalianStallion220 30 seconds at the most if at all. To tell you the truth the only good way to break in is using it to play catch and thats it

Most of this stuff is correct. Just don't overdo it guys
+Pat Stevens what advice would you have for my son who happens to be 8yrs old? He left his glove outside last night during a thunderstorm. +Pat Stevens that's exactly what I did! Thanks for the info, he's gonna be using it tonight.
+David Nelams hope he has a good game
On the tags it said don't get the glove wet
Just use shaving cream and Vaseline. Then put it in the microwave
i see my glove on the wall, right side black leather brown webbing
Who tells someone to put their glove in the oven... #OurGenerationsDead
oops my glove is in my oven

i hate rawlings gloves, the leather feels really squishy and spongy, even the pro preffered gloves, well thats my opinion, hah
just sleep on your glove a few days
Whatch also if you need help
Half of the video to say "don't microwave". Half of the other video, common sense.
ikr
thats a bunch of bull shit i put it in the DAMN OVEN and it worked perfectly
aso is the the glove guru and wilson is way better
Nokona is a lot better
Heat does not make leather brittle, you sure this guy warrants the title “Guru”??
V
Yes, use it. Plain and simple. All other ways are for wussies.
thats an ugly glove hah
no shit dumb ass
you sir are an idout
