#AskEck What was the official cover story of what happened to Anakin Skywalker when Vader showed up? And how do you think the galaxy would respond if he didn’t need the suit to survive and still remained recognizable as Anakin? Been following you for awhile, glad to see you finally approach 1mil!
the official cover was most likely that Anakin was killed in the purge just like the rest of them, there wasn't a jedi that was ever publicly announced as just missing or alive. They were all killed off to the public eye for trying to overthrow the empire. With nobody really knowing his status as Palpatine's apprentice outside of Maul, he wouldn't be excluded from that list.
To answer the first question: Anakin was depicted as having died during Operation: Knightfall. He was supposedly the last surviving Jedi, having survived everything the clones threw at him, even attempting to protect the Younglings at one point. According to Imperial records, it took Darth Vader personally to deal with Anakin, and it was NOT an easy fight. Vader did manage to win, and slew Anakin, thus bringing the Siege of the Jedi Temple to a close. This reported victory over the Hero with No Fear catapulted Vader to instant status-symbol in the Empire, though it did take some time for the worlds further from the Core to hear about it. It put the fear of God into the Jedi who learned about it, though. Anakin was considered one of the best and strongest the Order had to offer, and Vader killed him. To most Jedi, it meant that you could not fight Vader, you could only run. The second question: If Anakin didn't need the suit. There are three ways this could happen: 1) He won the duel on Mustafar and killed Kenobi. 2) He lost the duel on Mustafar, but didn't get dismembered. 3) He lost the duel, was dismembered, but wasn't burned. The first one would cause ripple effects in the timeline, as it was Vader's defeat on Mustafar that caused so much headache for Palpatine, the Empire, and gave the galaxy room to breathe. If Vader had won, the Empire likely would not have been beaten, at least as we know it. Chances are good that Vader would have eventually overthrown Palpatine and gone on to be Emperor himself. The second scenario would probably lead to a similar result as the first, albeit with a minor setback on the Imperial side. The third scenario would require Anakin to be fitted with new prosthetics, and would be debilitating but not crippling. Vader would still need to undergo rigorous training to regain at least a portion of his lost power, and would likely still wear a modified suit to help with his cybernetics. It would not be nearly as extensive as the original, not needing a life-support system built into the suit just to keep Vader from flatlining. He also arguably would have been weaker than OG Vader, as the constant pain his burn injuries caused fed the Dark Side, letting him tap into it far easier and more deeply than he would have otherwise. At times, his rage in the Dark Side of the Force could surpass even Palpatine's, usually when all his buttons were pressed.

The fact that Palpatine was able to ask Anakin to just shut the entire droid army down galaxywide is a good enough argument to just let it rot. Not reliable if one person could potentially shut down your entire security apparatus.

do you believe the dark side is itself evil or is it like the light often mistaken and misunderstood by people who try to use it and end up thinking in basics instead of being truly one with the force.i personally believe that the force itself is just like anything else and that how you approach and apply it is just as important as the ideas of the force and the force itself.destruction isn’t itself evil just like making something isn’t always good.I’m curious if you or and of the rest of you think this way as i see that there is ultimately flaws in those who use the force but the force itself is just a force if you will.let me know what you all think would like to see a video on this as i believe just like in the real world the answers are far more complicated than that side this side ultimately. 0:38
Several droideka series were re-used as walking support turrets, but that was it, older gene 1 series of battle droids were re-used as utility droid, considering they were in large numbers and it was easy to upload new plans and order into their brains, this made them useful for operating machinery, cleaning and maintenance etc, tactical droids were re-used as traffic control and logistics to help organize, but that was it,
I think another reason potentially is the fact that droids are not really sensitive or connected to the force, whereas if you compel sapient living entities which may not be force sensitive per se but still have a slight connection to it, to commit atrocities in the name of the empire and emperor it may serve to further empower the grip the dark side has on the galaxy.
In my head cannon, Palpatine knows better then anyone that droid armies can be turned off and clones can instantly turn against their commanders, since thats exactly how he masterminded the Clone War to last just long enough for him to take power and then end when he got it.
Two What-If episode ideas. 1, if Anakin won and only lost an arm (not strong enough or willing to seize the throne right away), what would The Empire be like if Vader showed the face of the famous General Skywalker? 2, if Anakin died of his injuries or sadness before Palpatine "saved" him, who would Palpatine have used as his main sith enforcer and #2 in The Empire?
#AskEck, If you could design the perfect corvette or similar size combat vessel, what would it look like? Something new that combines all the best parts of the best corvettes. I think a 3D render similar to Fractalsponge's work would be nice. Keep up the amazing work and congrats on nearly 1 million subs!
I'm quoting someone I found on a forum here, these are not my words but it fits Palpatine perfectly. The discussion was why after he was so careful in the prequels to take over the galaxy, he seems to have become a lot more careless as time went on. The answer? He WANTED the rebellion to happen so he has an enemy to fight: "Palpatine's goal is infinite, unending power--so that he can amuse himself without restraint. He wants to be the eternal boy pulling the wings of flies, with us as the flies. And he thinks he's there. He'll happily sacrifice a little power for amusement. Why not? He believes he has infinite amounts of it."
Few things are more dangerous to the security of a state than a large number of unemployed young men. Filling the military with them not only gives Palpatine a tool, but it also keeps them out of rebel or criminal organizations.
Another point: having a heavily automated combat force comprised of mostly droids is also risky, as a Rebel commando team could infiltrate, say, the Imperial equivalent of a Lucrehulk carrier, slice a few bits of code and Gotcha! The Alliance now has thousands of combat units to deploy
Did the Ancient Sith know about the Star Forge? Ajunta Pall alludes quite heavily to the treasure of the Ancient Sith from his era to be the Star Forge, but I have yet to see this referenced anywhere else. I don't believe anyone other than the Rakatta, Revan, and Malak had anything to do with the Star Forge, or even had any knowledge whatsoever about its existence, and yet Pall seems to state otherwise and the Star Map is located within Naga Sadow's tomb, which couldn't have been a coincidence. Continuity error? Plot thread left unresolved? #askeck
#AskEck Should Thrawn have used battle droids in his campaign against the New Republic in Legends? Why or why not? And if he did, what changed might've occured?
Thrawn was a commander who believed battle were won mainly by loyalty and devotion to the cause. He would have hated battle droids except to operate machinery.
@@matrix-5466 but Thrawn had the brilliance to pull it off. If he already had superior numbers at the beginning, he would've easily crushed the battles which were losses or nearly lost
@@Royce0508You can be the most brilliant mind in the world (or galaxy I guess) but if you don’t have capable soldiers or resources, it means nothing. The main reason the CIS lost was because of an incapable army despite having billions of battle droids next to around 6 million clones.
#AskEck The original Heir to the Empire trilogy dropped hints that the Clone Wars revolved around Clone Masters with Clone armies probably fighting the Republic and Clone madness being the main reason they were no longer in use, why do you think this was altered to make the Clones fight for the Republic and mostly drop Clone madness?
Lost stars shows the empire as pretty benevolent until about halfway into the book. They come in and industrialize a planet and the kids see a military parade and want to join.
My problem with this is that, even if it makes sense to avoid using the battle droids in the military, they could have been used to solve another problem the Empire had. IIRC, the labor to build the Death Star was a huge part of the problem with its construction. Although the Wookies were enslaved to meet the need, it opened up all kind of troubles having unwilling labor constructing the Death Star. Using droids as superweapon labor keeps them out of the public eye, security is only a memory wipe away instead of the relatively costly option of killing all the laborers, and droids make greatvmenial laborers.
Keep in mind that the Dark Side feeds on death - all death & any death. Thus even losing his own men, in a roundabout way, fueled Palpatine's power. Of course this only works if those dying were alive in the first place.
The creation of Lord Nyax also wasn’t cheap, and even mass-producing something similar (maybe a bionic lizard or something) would still cost a lot per unit, and even more so if it is necessary to find people who will put up with such extensive modifications being done to them (leaving aside that anti-droid sentiment led to people being somewhat averse to artificial limbs, especially if the limbs looked obviously mechanical or otherwise off).
Anything like the droids or clones was always a liability too: Palpatine didn’t want to get order 66ed. Programmed clones or droids could be turned on the emperor, but a dispersed army of individuals with a livelihood and purpose invested in the empire won’t so easily turn.
Probably a combination of conscription being a cheap option for the empire to recruit its soldiers and droid soldiers being seen as evil destructive creatures of war in the public consciousness following the clone wars. When it comes to explaining why the empire didn't make use of droids, except for odd prison and enforcer droids.
I will always be an advocate for imperial droid armies if you add a front line of droids before sending your troops in, your troops will feel safer and be more willing to fight knowing the droids (lifeless beings) are absorbing the natural dangers of being the first ones onto the battlefield they would have made excellent auxiliary forces, ship guards, disposable troops to send in when the loss of life makes no sense there are many other reasons to use droids more than they did, while it would have made things feel less imperial it would have made way to much logical sense.
Nice to see you are a March baby as well. Happy early bday Eck. Edit: 1:48 DAHYUMN! I have never seen a sexy bit of actual propaganda posters from either the Republic or The Empire, in the SW universe. Additionally, 4:45 Yes I completely understand that SW is basically WWII in space, hints the NS selective schools (German: NS-Ausleseschulen) and nicknamed "Hitler's Academy" as some people refer to those facilities, today. Also I suppose it is a point to say "We're not the bad guys, they are the bad guys", same stance Epic FN took in the Apple vs Epic case. Classic.
At the very least, the droid army could have been used as a labor force for the Death Star. They aren’t rebellious, they don’t require food and only require charging for rest. And they’re easily replaceable and you don’t need to subject and entire planet for more slaves.
Simple answer: On a 1:1 basis, none of the CIS' mainline droids were comparable to flesh-and-blood troopers or crew-operated vehicles. B1s are fragile, B2s are slow and so huge they wouldn't be able to take cover which leaves them vulnerable, Droidekas are better used defensively due to their vulnerability when moving and other limitations, Vultures and Tri-fighters were both outclassed by the TIE, etc. At best Commando Droids and Magna-Guards were comparable, but between their expense and other issues it was still better to use people. Add in the political and tactical side of things as you discussed and it really isn't odd that the CIS' battle droids, and battle droids in general for the most part, wouldn't be used by the Empire.
I think it was a huge missed opportunity for the sequels to not show the empire fighting an actual organized military. Imagine if the first order fought the new republic in all out warfare instead of it being yet another story about a band of rebels fighting a larger foe
This idea comes up in a bizarre way in some online discussions, particularly in a Star Wars vs Imperium of Man scenario. On paper the Empire would be in big trouble especially in Ground Combat situations at least to begin with - Space combat, not so much. If the Empire finds itself sucked in to a proper war with the Imperium of man then they need to pull out all the stops simply to prevent the Imperium from bulldozing them. Thing is the Empire can do this (40K fans outraged at the very idea). The Empire actually has the industrial base and though it means drastic changes to the SW galaxy at large. A fully geared up Empire under no illusions that it's in the fight of it's life can mass produce various types of battledroid simply as a stop gap measure while the rest of the military expands and re-equips. Could see some especially super sneaky designs being developed and produced in the trillions to counter the threat of Space Marines etc.
The droids weren't used to avoid a continuity issue. In canon it was to avoid more unrest. Ultimately it would have made far more sense for Palpatine to use both the CIS and Republic forces once he was the Emperor. No rebellion would ever be able to stand up to the combined might. He had both vast numbers and elite troops. He would have enough troops and droids to occupy every planet with huge numbers.
It would be cool to see a film from the view of a man or women who is from a backwater planet who joined the army to help their own home world, you could slowly see just how a good person could be corrupted to see how the Jedi were traitors and or the alien races were below them due to their supposed treachery
I think something that should be taken into account is the idea that the Droid army wasnt actually as large or powerful as its implied to be in some extended material as everything we are given is not really direct information but rather Hearsay. I wouldnt be surprised if the Droid armies number are inflated significantly just so the CIS looks more dangerous thus making the Republic more like an underdog the following are some extra points to consider as well. 1. Battle droids are Highly susceptible to large EMP attacks the Republic had already developed some weapons that could disable entire Droid armies with one drop of a bomb. 2. Hacks.. Droids could easily be hacked to switch sides the Repubic did this a few times. 3. The mass shut down order... This goes in line with the hacking portion but if a enemy discovers the mass shutdown order then the entire military is disabled overnight there is no equivalent to organics. The closest thing uou can get is a virus but that would take Months to sweep through the ranks of a organic military and in that time the Empire or Republic could create a vaccine. 4. The droids army had already proven to be a failure as Quelling rebellious worlds and in many cases even made it worse. The Clones did a much better job and Palps probably assumed that a recruited army could do even better due to inspiring loyalty. 5. Loyalty.. droids fight without really questioning orders which means if a general, senator, admirial, or Moff decided to seize power for themselves they could easily use the droids to do so even if they had some failsafes within their code that can be easily altered possibly even in mass as an individual bcould have access to a factory or multiple factories. Organics if they are ordered to overthrow the Emperor/Chancellor could question orders or straight up refuse the order.
Droids were the enemy. The galaxy had no idea that Palpatine commanded both sides, if suddenly millions of enemy battle droids previously wreaking havoc over them showed up to "police" them, everyone knew immediantly that something fishy was going on.
Viewing the Imperial Navy as more of a police force than a military helps explain a lot of the equipment and vehicle decisions.

do you believe the dark side is itself evil or is it like the light often mistaken and misunderstood by people who try to use it and end up thinking in basics instead of being truly one with the force.i personally believe that the force itself is just like anything else and that how you approach and apply it is just as important as the ideas of the force and the force itself.destruction isn’t itself evil just like making something isn’t always good.I’m curious if you or and of the rest of you think this way as i see that there is ultimately flaws in those who use the force but the force itself is just a force if you will.let me know what you all think would like to see a video on this as i believe just like in the real world the answers are far more complicated than that side this side ultimately. 0:38
2:00 Red-orange Twi'lek is hella stacked, lol.
Congrats on the mil you earned it man.
Happy late birthday, your vids rocks
I kinda always thought up you had it already because your stuff is so good! Haha!
then they try to convince you that 6 million clones(in total) could beat an army in the 100s of billions if not trillions
The clones didn’t beat them watch episode 3 it shows how the war ends
Crazy that you're almost at a million subs, been watching from the start
Congrats, bro!
You made 1m before your Bday! Congrats!!!!
Love watching these, road to one million!!
Subscribed, hope you hit 1 million
Hell yeah! Almost at a million!
How has the channel not hit over a mil the hell
Few things are more dangerous to the security of a state than a large number of unemployed young men. Filling the military with them not only gives Palpatine a tool, but it also keeps them out of rebel or criminal organizations.
Been watching for a while just subscribed because my birthday is march 5th haha. But seriously though you deserve that 1 million
Loved the video as always, truly hope you get that 1mil subs! I know you will get there and I hope for your birthday.
Best Canadian RUclips!!
Cheers
#askeck
Woah! I've been a sub for a long time, crazy were approaching 1 million subs!
Head canon: the Droid Army remnant is in the Unknown Regions preparing for the Yuuzhan Vong invasion.
@@matrix-5466 but wouldn't Thrawn understand that mass produced droids are much more sustainable than his stormtroopers?
@@Royce0508Sure but having the largest force doesn’t guarantee victory…
@@matrix-5466 but Thrawn had the brilliance to pull it off. If he already had superior numbers at the beginning, he would've easily crushed the battles which were losses or nearly lost
@@Royce0508You can be the most brilliant mind in the world (or galaxy I guess) but if you don’t have capable soldiers or resources, it means nothing. The main reason the CIS lost was because of an incapable army despite having billions of battle droids next to around 6 million clones.
"It's all about branding." - Galactic Empire
Ayyy just seeing this vid now but congrats on making a mil before your bday
Wait there were multiple force users using battle mediation at the battle of endor?! I demand a follow-up video!!
We need a video talking about how the empire was actually the good guy. That would be fun.
1:46 this poster is so funny lol
Keep in mind that the Dark Side feeds on death - all death & any death. Thus even losing his own men, in a roundabout way, fueled Palpatine's power. Of course this only works if those dying were alive in the first place.
George simply forgor
I think I remember in one of the Last of the Jedi kids novels in legends the empire did make use of the Droideka
#askeck if you could choose any Star Wars character to get their own show who would it be and how would you like it to be done.
You should do a fanfiction of what would happen in the prequel era if The droids and clones swapped roles (Jedi using Droids and sith using clones.)
They should implement exceeded combat droids for remote areas that usually need constant logistical needs if they are operated by organic staff
I guess it's a good thing that I don't have a question to ask since I apparently wouldn't be able to get it answered.
The galaxy had just been traumatized by droid armies, Palpatine didn't want to feed the resentments he created any more than it suited him.
This guy is infinitely better than Star Wars Theory and yet he has less than a third of the subscribers, that has gotta change!
Somewhat off topic but Lost Stars is still in my top 3 Star Wars novels of all time.
Happy birthday!
To shorten the answer, Palpatine wanted to keep a good reputation.
When it comes to explaining why the empire didn't make use of droids, except for odd prison and enforcer droids.
you hit a million whew
Easily one of the Empire Videos ive ever seen
I liked the cross era mod he had for the intro. I wish these kinds of mods were in the OG BF2
I will always be an advocate for imperial droid armies
if you add a front line of droids before sending your troops in, your troops will feel safer and be more willing to fight knowing the droids (lifeless beings) are absorbing the natural dangers of being the first ones onto the battlefield
they would have made excellent auxiliary forces, ship guards, disposable troops to send in when the loss of life makes no sense
there are many other reasons to use droids more than they did, while it would have made things feel less imperial it would have made way to much logical sense.
That fucking Catain America style Vader poster, "He Can't Do It Alone!"....
Classic.
the game he is playing in the background: is that the EA remake/reboot of the old Battlefront games?
At the very least, the droid army could have been used as a labor force for the Death Star. They aren’t rebellious, they don’t require food and only require charging for rest. And they’re easily replaceable and you don’t need to subject and entire planet for more slaves.
Cmon yall we gotta get this man to 1 million. ❤
Add in the political and tactical side of things as you discussed and it really isn't odd that the CIS' battle droids, and battle droids in general for the most part, wouldn't be used by the Empire.
i'm insane i thought it said WHy the Empire didn''t use TRILLIONS of free BATTLE TOADS for a sec
Eck gonna reach 1 million not on his birthday but on May 4th, just you see
We share a birthday on the 6th with Michelangelo, the person not the turtle.
I think it was a huge missed opportunity for the sequels to not show the empire fighting an actual organized military. Imagine if the first order fought the new republic in all out warfare instead of it being yet another story about a band of rebels fighting a larger foe
Do a video on why the Halo CSO Super Carrier is amazing
Happy birthday mine was yesterday lmao how interesting
#AskEck What is your favorite/most powerful faction in Star Wars canon?
